Will Kings Island bring back a Campground?
IndyGuy4KI replied to AdventureExpresser's topic in Kings Island
I have to agree with you, If it's a place that you can't put a tent, is it really a campground? My wife and I do a lot of tent camping, so Camp Cedar is out of the question for us. -
Kings Island will celebrate its 50th birthday on Friday, April 29th 2022 and Kings Island wants you to celebrate with them. On their birthday, Kings Island will have special guests who will participate in a re-dedication ceremony. Park guests will be invited to enjoy a very large 50th birthday cake when the ceremony ends. The first family to enter Kings Island 50 years ago on April 29, 1972 were Taryn Harrison, Tamara Hitson, and Heather Hitson (all sisters.) They will be performing the ribbon cutting. Alton Fitzgerald White a former Kings Island performer and critically acclaimed actor best known for playing King Mufasa in Disney's The Lion King on Broadway will sing the National Anthem. Speaking at the ceremony will be: Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted Kings Island vice president and general manager Mike Koontz Cedar Fair Entertainment CEO Richard Zimmerman City of Mason Mayor Barbara Spaeth Founder of Kings Island Gary Wachs President of International Theme Park Services Dennis Speigel This ceremony is a once in a lifetime event. Since Kings Island first opened in 1972, their guests have known Kings Island as a place where unforgettable memories are made. Everyone has a story or memory about a trip to Kings Island, and this season is about sharing those memories and making new ones. KICentral admin will be there to capture as much of the historic day as we can, and we hope that you will be there as well to enjoy this special time in Kings Island history.

Coney Island Cincinnati to remove all rides
IndyGuy4KI replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Coney Island Central
So we get rid of a great collection of classic rides and throw in some inflatables. I guess throwing a patch on when a hole gets created or replacing a blower is cheaper than maintaining those rides. What happens when they go floating down the Ohio River? I almost think they would be better off with Morgan RVs who ran Indiana Beach into the ground. -
Choir or band?

I really want the 50th anniversary Polo, but seems they don't sell them.

Water, lots of water!
-
Yes, it has been for some time. You are right. Looks like @DonHelbig needs to have the website guys add the FL badge to the ride on the website.

Can't have enough ERT!

So I missed seeing these trash cans. Anyone get a picture?

This past weekend Kings Island opened for the 2022 season with the start of its 50th anniversary season. To say that Kings Islands is off to a great start is an understatement. The park looks absolutely amazing and the 50th anniversary celebrations and season will be one that KICentral members will be reminiscing about on the forums for years to come! Coming into the park you are greeted by multiple banners on the light poles and the new 50th anniversary sign at the turn styles. After walling in you get a new 50th celebration sign. As you see all the details that went into this season, you can't help but wonder if you missed something that was freshly painted or was an added touch to just make the season that much more special to celebrate 50 years of Kings Island. One of the highlights for KICentral members on the forums was the added theming on International Street, and don't just look at eye level, there are more details on the second floor of the International Street buildings that you won't want to miss! Let's not forget the much anticipated look of The Racer with its new red, white, and blue paintjob gleaming in the KI skyline! We can't think of a better way to celebrate The Racer's 50 years at Kings Island. We also have to highlight the restoration of The Grand Carousel and its organ, which sounds beautiful while taking a spin on the PTC classic. You will be amazed at all the different buildings and rides that got a fresh coat of paint as well. The last thing that I want to highlight is the new Sweet Spot made in house treats. You will want to stop and give them a try on your visit in 2022. The 50th anniversary season is off to a sweet start, and all of us at KICentral feel this is going to be another wonderful year that you will not want to miss. Stay tuned to the forums to keep updated and discuss the season with fellow Kings Island enthusiasts. We look forward to celebrating with you this season at Kings Island! Here is a look at the almost 300 pictures I took on Friday and Saturday.

I hope to get the around 300 pictures I took between Friday and Saturday. Uploaded to KIC later today. I will post a link once it's up.

I wonder if this will be the VIP area?

I thought I had posted it on KIC, but I guess I just posted it on our Twitter feed.

They have been there for a few seasons now. Not sure of their purpose, but I don't think it is teasing of any kind.
-
I am pretty sure the answer is no. I think they should at least be showing the ride wait times even if there is no other "interaction" going on with them. It would be nice if they were a little more accurate, but I think most people understand that the wait times are estimates. only. If they are 10 to 15 min either way that is a pretty good gauge. It is hard to know if a ride is going to go down, a slew of FLP riders show up, or other issues happen after they were updated. I would rather they over estimate a little so if I get off 10 to 20 min earlier than I thought when I got in line I saved some time I did not think I had.
-
Yes, they are going to finish it.

The Oreo brownie parfait is absolutely amazing. My wife and I shared one on Friday. On Saturday I went in and bought one for each of us because the first one was so good, and I wanted one all to myself.

The Amusement Park Railroad Thread
IndyGuy4KI replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That is so cool, thanks for sharing. -
Take your email confirmation, when you get to the turnstiles you will show them the barcode on your email confirmation and they will give you a physical pass there and take your picture. Then you can add your barcode number to your mobile app.
