If you listened to the interview of Brian kosmac on "In The Loop" he explained why the ride has so many problems and it is hard to fix. If the sensors are off even a millimeter in the station the ride can't not operate. Everything shuts down (I believe) Aligning those sensors are really hard. Kosmac said it was hard to tell why this problem is so frequent and they still have not figured out the problem.

If they would have a camera up close in the line it's not like they would have those "idiots" on tape But I do remember The Diamondback webcam on Vortex a few weeks before opening day showing it's new paint job and I also remember it showing The Racer.

I am one who has gotten beat more in any ride on The Beast than SoB They are both rough. Son of Beast really hurts my tailbone and back except when I ride in the front seat. The Beast when I ride in certain seats hurts my ribs and my sides but I still really love it. -

That is so stupid no one has ever died on Diamondback. Diamondback has never had any accidents at all. -

Terminator Salvation at SFMM is also built to withstand earthquakes but I wouldn't consider it an engineering marvel. SOB took existing technology to a new level much the same way KK and TTD were when they opened which IMO they are. You wouldn't consider Terminator Salvation and Fireball a engineering "marvel"? I sure would. I don't know of any other wooden coasters that can withstand strong earthquakes. The last wooden coaster I would ride after a earthquake would be Son of Beast. It is true that Son of Beast, Top thrill dragster, and Kingda ka set a new level but I wouldn't put them on my reliable list either. -

The builder cheaply constructed it? Well I hope your kidding. The ride cost 15 million dollars in 2000 now it would be around 20 million. I have seen pictures of Son of Beast in the middle and it does look amazing but the engineering was poorly done. -

Not so sure if it did but I think it did collaspe during a storm. The ride is still "weak" and it is finshed. -

In my opinion Son of Beast is not a engineering marvel but some structures do fail like you posted. A good exmaple of wooden coaster that is a "engineering marvel" is Fireball at happy valley. It's not huge and it's not small. That ride was desinged and engineered to withstand powerful earthquakes. If you look at the contruction photos of the footers and structure you will see what I mean. -

I totally agree. It is a megastructure but a engineering marvel. Not really. The ride has had to many problems to be a engineering marvel. -

The ride Had nothing to do with his death. Wasnt he revived later afterwards? He had a heart attack when he sat down I believe and the ride was opened later the next day. -
Wow Kosmac said Son of Beast is boring and thrown together. I really didn't see that coming.

I will be too!

I'm not able to open up the rider safety guide. Can any of you download it? Everytime time I try to open it I get get this. Couldn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn't recognize.

I wondered that too at first until I looked at this. http://www.sixflags.com/overTexas/info/News_TexasGiantTrack.aspx To put it back it back as the worlds top wooden coaster. -

http://www.oxfordpress.com/news/oxford-news/son-of-beast-wont-open-this-season-607408.html They contacted more then just Intamin. One was turned down and I have not seen any other news on it since then. I wouldn't doubt if they contacted Intamin about about the steel track and I wouldn't be surprised if Intamin turned them down. Besides why would they want to spend 10-15 million on Son of Beast? Not knowing if it's going to be the right fix. -
From 5@5. I remember seeing it since 08.

I'm guessing they moved the entrance back so people don't walk into the entrance. On opening day I was riding Adventure Express and I looked over at Son of Beast then I looked again and noticed there was a older lady and a child walking around by the first drop and I was just dumbfounded by this. I had no clue why people were back there. -
I was just looking around on a website and I found a cool podcast most of you might like. Some of you probably even listen to this. Not sure if it has been mentioned on here before. http://seasonpasspodcast.com/ You can listen to it on Itunes for free which is what I did. There is actually a episode of them interviewing Korey Kiepert from the Gravity group but it's about a hour long but totally worth it! #99 I thought this episode was very interesting. He explained how he grew up loving roller coasters and how he enjoyed designing roller coasters. He also explained how the Gravity Group came together and how they came up a name for there group. There is a lot more then that too. Enjoy!

Just because they are similar in weight it doesn't mean it would work. Like i said before...
