OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
In my opinion Son of Beast is not a engineering marvel but some structures do fail like you posted. A good exmaple of wooden coaster that is a "engineering marvel" is Fireball at happy valley. It's not huge and it's not small. That ride was desinged and engineered to withstand powerful earthquakes. If you look at the contruction photos of the footers and structure you will see what I mean.

Do they still have problems? Not that I know of and I doubt they do.

I totally agree. It is a megastructure but a engineering marvel. Not really. The ride has had to many problems to be a engineering marvel.

The ride Had nothing to do with his death. Wasnt he revived later afterwards? He had a heart attack when he sat down I believe and the ride was opened later the next day.

I wondered that too at first until I looked at this. http://www.sixflags.com/overTexas/info/News_TexasGiantTrack.aspx To put it back it back as the worlds top wooden coaster.

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
http://www.oxfordpress.com/news/oxford-news/son-of-beast-wont-open-this-season-607408.html They contacted more then just Intamin. One was turned down and I have not seen any other news on it since then. I wouldn't doubt if they contacted Intamin about about the steel track and I wouldn't be surprised if Intamin turned them down. Besides why would they want to spend 10-15 million on Son of Beast? Not knowing if it's going to be the right fix.

New Inverted Coaster?

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
I'm guessing they moved the entrance back so people don't walk into the entrance. On opening day I was riding Adventure Express and I looked over at Son of Beast then I looked again and noticed there was a older lady and a child walking around by the first drop and I was just dumbfounded by this. I had no clue why people were back there.

The season pass podcast
I was just looking around on a website and I found a cool podcast most of you might like. Some of you probably even listen to this. Not sure if it has been mentioned on here before. http://seasonpasspodcast.com/ You can listen to it on Itunes for free which is what I did. There is actually a episode of them interviewing Korey Kiepert from the Gravity group but it's about a hour long but totally worth it! #99 I thought this episode was very interesting. He explained how he grew up loving roller coasters and how he enjoyed designing roller coasters. He also explained how the Gravity Group came together and how they came up a name for there group. There is a lot more then that too. Enjoy!

Just because they are similar in weight it doesn't mean it would work. Like i said before...

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
That would just make the track even heavier and dangerous. The first accident was when a ride support snapped because the trains were to heavy. Hybrid tracks for Son of Beast will not do much good. and around 8 layers of wood is lighter than a hollow box made of steel? i think they would be similar in weight. It would still not be the safest I would think. If the ride had a steel track it would just put more stress onto the structure which is a major problem. Vibrations travel faster through steel then wood and that would transfer to the structure causing even more damage. I got this off of coaster force. It sais the weight of the new track is said to be about the same as the former track. I'm sure it weighs more then your probably thinking.

Opening Day Weather
actually, the park will be open ALL three days, the rides may or may not be operating all day, but i honestly find it but MAYBE once a year you could go a WHOLE day with no rides open at all... id bet youd get multiple rerides all 3 days, at various points in the day... If there is not a thunderstorm rides will not close down. If there is just rain showers through out the day, all rides will run with one train with a few exceptions. Diamondback will run two but is actually quite painful in the rain. I think I remember there was another ride that ran two trains in the rain. It's hard to remember it was like a year ago when I played hookey for the last three days of school And no I don't think they will close the park if there are severe thunderstorms. They have a few safe places in the park where people stay like Flight of Fear, The crypt, restrooms, and shops.

Boo Blasters On Boo Hill
I thought that too but they do chant Oooga Booga. Which would work perfectly for Boo Blasters

Boo Blasters High Score
Oh jeez that's a lot. How often did you ride it last year?

Diamondback Restraints
I rode Diamondback once Saturday in row 8. For some reason Diamondback did not feel the same. I don't really know how to put it but the ride seemed kind of stiff. Last year Diamondback went through non stop testing (seemed like it). This year the ride only had to go through 100 cycles during this off season. Diamondback probably had well over 1,000 cycles before it opened in 2009. This year I would say Diamondback didn't even have 200 cycles during testing. This would have a huge affect on the trains. In a few weeks the trains will be broke in more and probably feel the same to me.

Boo Blasters On Boo Hill
I don't remember hearing a sound track I guess I wasn't paying attention. I agree a instrument track would be the best. I actually played this piece in my percussion ensemble called Death by Oooga Booga. It's really creepy. It is has a Africa feel to it but it would fit it perfectly in my opinion. There is actually chanting at the end of it. Here it is http://mp3s.sheetmus...17350114_00.mp3 If that doesn't work here is the link. http://mp3s.sheetmusicplus.com/soundclips/17350114_00.mp3
