OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
Fear the Four replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
That would just make the track even heavier and dangerous. The first accident was when a ride support snapped because the trains were to heavy. Hybrid tracks for Son of Beast will not do much good. and around 8 layers of wood is lighter than a hollow box made of steel? i think they would be similar in weight. It would still not be the safest I would think. If the ride had a steel track it would just put more stress onto the structure which is a major problem. Vibrations travel faster through steel then wood and that would transfer to the structure causing even more damage. I got this off of coaster force. It sais the weight of the new track is said to be about the same as the former track. I'm sure it weighs more then your probably thinking. -

actually, the park will be open ALL three days, the rides may or may not be operating all day, but i honestly find it but MAYBE once a year you could go a WHOLE day with no rides open at all... id bet youd get multiple rerides all 3 days, at various points in the day... If there is not a thunderstorm rides will not close down. If there is just rain showers through out the day, all rides will run with one train with a few exceptions. Diamondback will run two but is actually quite painful in the rain. I think I remember there was another ride that ran two trains in the rain. It's hard to remember it was like a year ago when I played hookey for the last three days of school And no I don't think they will close the park if there are severe thunderstorms. They have a few safe places in the park where people stay like Flight of Fear, The crypt, restrooms, and shops.

Let's burn highly toxic treated wood. Brilliant! -
I thought that too but they do chant Oooga Booga. Which would work perfectly for Boo Blasters
-
Oh jeez that's a lot. How often did you ride it last year?
-
I rode Diamondback once Saturday in row 8. For some reason Diamondback did not feel the same. I don't really know how to put it but the ride seemed kind of stiff. Last year Diamondback went through non stop testing (seemed like it). This year the ride only had to go through 100 cycles during this off season. Diamondback probably had well over 1,000 cycles before it opened in 2009. This year I would say Diamondback didn't even have 200 cycles during testing. This would have a huge affect on the trains. In a few weeks the trains will be broke in more and probably feel the same to me.

I don't remember hearing a sound track I guess I wasn't paying attention. I agree a instrument track would be the best. I actually played this piece in my percussion ensemble called Death by Oooga Booga. It's really creepy. It is has a Africa feel to it but it would fit it perfectly in my opinion. There is actually chanting at the end of it. Here it is http://mp3s.sheetmus...17350114_00.mp3 If that doesn't work here is the link. http://mp3s.sheetmusicplus.com/soundclips/17350114_00.mp3

People OUTSIDE KI Say The Darnedest Things
Fear the Four replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island
Today in gym people were talking about how they want to go to Kings Island. This kid said "my grandma works at Kings Island she could get us like 30 free gold cards!" The other kid said "Dude no way can I have a gold ticket!" I could not help by laughing at them as I walked out the door. -
I think it's a wheel thing I believe when DB opened it had break in wheel nylon (harder louder faster) as the ride bearings break in the ride gets faster so to slow it down they change to polyurethane (softer quieter slower ) they left one set on the sound was awesome but rumor has it complaints from the neighbors caused them to go all polyurethane for the quiet sounds just a guess ? Welcome! The ride has ALWAYS have had polyurethane wheels. EDIT: Sorry but the ride also has nylon wheels with it too. It's been awhile since I saw that and forgot. Mentioned by Brian Kosmac in this video... I believe this was before opening day. It has been mentioned a few times earlier in this topic that the weather does effect the roar.

It just seems easier to me to leave everything but my car keys, phone, season pass & credit card in my car. But you can get that stuff wet either or take the chance losing it on Firehawk. One thing I also noticed was they look out the old lockers by Viking fury and replaced it with a "arcade". I don't know if that this was mentioned.

"Guests of Exceptional Size" - an idea!

They weren't running for people during ERT either last saturday. -
Your right I was actually on a backlot rollback yesterday :-) but I heard that Flight of Fear braked on the launch.

It has nothing at all to do with wheels. There are wheels on the trains that have never been changed and there are wheels that were changed a week ago. There is no say how long wheels can last. They can either last for years or last for a few months. If there is not a reason too change the wheels they won't change them. Could you get a different roar from a different type of wheel? Does B & M even offer more than one type of wheel for their trains? I believe most steel coasters use polyurethane wheels. They usually last longer. The roar really does depend on the weather. Not the wheels.

Weight is not a issue for me at a amusement park for me. But I do have high blood pressure which does actually scare me. Last time I checked it was 160/80 and I'm only 15. The last thing I want is to have a heart attack on a ride...

Hey they answered my question about Viking fury!

Why so pessimistic? If it sucks so much don't go!!! The b*tchiest post I've seen! I agree. You should of prepared your self more knowing the high was barely going to reach 60. Kings Island can not control rides valleying. Yes Kings Island should approached the leak in the ball totally different. Why you didn't ride much I don't know. Some days you have to suck it up and wait to ride. It was the first day not everything is going to be fast. Your complaining about Diamondback? What really sucked about it?
-
It was the weather... wait until summer time and you will be able to hear from Great wolf lodge. EDIT: I was beat to it.

It seemed like 90 percent of the rides were closed at some point.
