Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
shark6495 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
That’s the part that makes me laugh the most. These people are like I don’t want science experimenting on me…. Well we’re finding out the death ratio of unvaccinated versus vaccinated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

So we were taught with hipaa it’s medically identifying information Name Date Soc security Telephone Address Medical record numbers Photos Bio metric identifiers Etc I have not been able to find the report but if she didn’t give any of this info it does not seem like a hipaa violation…. Maybe over sharing but not hipaa Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
shark6495 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
I mean yeah if you have the resources to run double and triple blind studies against control groups then yeah do your own research. Heck I applaud you if you’re doing your own research. Other than that, then I’ll trust the scientists doing peer reviewed studies around the globe. And yes we made need a third booster. Doesn’t mean the science is bad. It means science is changing. What does this all mean for parks? Who knows. But if a park says mask up or don’t go… that’s up to you to decide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks

The issue with “had COVID don’t need the vaccine” is yes most research points to that in the short term (less than about 200 days) you are good. After that the vaccine shows longer ability to remain in the body to fight off future exposures. Hence the reason we are looking at boosters as the virus mutates we may need more boosters etc. The issue with 50% of the pop not taking the vaccine they are exposing those that can’t take it, are vulnerable, or the ones the vaccine doesn’t work for. So then they’re decision to not vaccinate exposed others who might not be able to (unless they mask but they usually don’t) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I don’t disagree with this completely but just want to add… the theming does add something to the rides for the kids. I’ve seen my middle kid have to ride things with snoopy because he loves the peanuts movie and the has a stuffed snoopy. (Very similar to the way he and my oldest react at Disney seeing themed rides - we need to ride dumbo or Nemo or etc). However my oldest (8) gets nothing out of the current PS theming as he never really liked the peanuts ride. However if there was a teen Titans go or Ben 10 ride….. Also as a parent to a fresh third kid (10 months)….. I’m looking forward to the day where all 3 kids can walk into the park and enjoy rides…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which is something that shouldn’t happen with proper management or leadership. The little things can add up. Yes maybe they were taking a shortcut and didn’t want to go get the right test dummies. But … if you can’t take the time/energy/money to use the right testing then what else are they or are they not short cutting? Maybe it seems I’m blowing this up more than it should be but usually in a company if you short cut one thing, there’s a culture of short cutting a lot of things…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What new attraction would make the best sense for KI?
shark6495 replied to dropdasher's topic in Coming Attractions
The park has many holes and it really depends on which demographic are they trying to bring to the park. Show me the low impact rides that KI has that brings grandma and grandpa to the park to spend money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
No that’s fair and what a weird comment chain for me to break my current lurker status for. (Us old timers....). No I think you’re right. It’s for sure a factor but I’m not sure it’s the driving force and if there is a decline in parks in the future I don’t think an unattended minor rule will be a driving force either. Too many variables to make anything make sense!! Aaaa! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think comparing malls and parks are a bit unfair. Malls were also hit by the rise of online shopping and the increased popularity of outdoor malls. Plus many anchors going bankrupt hurt as well. I personally don’t see a youth policy being hurtful to the parks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pretty much this. They continued to grow the rides profile which made more folks want to visit but they never did much on the infrastructure side and paired with baffling inability to communicate intents with the local government the whole area wasn’t ready for a massive park. It’s been a while but the majority of the Sixx time, wasn’t the road in just a two lane through the woods? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Things that need to be addressed by 2030
shark6495 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
This list is very similar to the one I created back when we needed changes for 2010 and then 2020... which means the park is going the opposite direction (IMO). - Parking lot: I thought when they redid the entrance we’d get an entire make over. The entrance looks great. Then it’s the Wild West. Is it gravel? Is it a festival lot? Is it the original blacktop from opening day? - Bring back the charm: the park continuously slides towards vanilla and corporate all over the place. From music to restaurants to rides. It feels very cookie cutterish. Which is why when something does open it feels very unique and fun, till everything goes back to the way it was. Even during Paramount we got characters walking around. Nothing now. - Kids area: look I get that Snoopy is beloved by many but for kids it’s very dated. I’m not saying bring back Hannah Barbara (even if they are starting to come back - Scoob). But with Charlie Brown moving from over the air to Apple TV that’s just another barrier for introductions of characters. And I get it, it’s expensive and probably not worth it. -Entertainment: we need more and in more dedicated areas. Maybe even more spontaneous entertainment. For a family with young or old , thrill rides do nothing -Booblasters: how is this still around? It’s lasted longer than Phantom (both as the scooby ride and in its current formation). It’s objectively worse. Overall park employee training and engagement: it’s gotten better the last few years but for some folks getting to KI may only be a once in a lifetime experience and there are at times where it still feels like a bother to employees to be there. Lastly—— Identify the parks identity: KI has gone through an identity crisis the last 10-15 years. It’s gone from a premiere park to a secondary (or tertiary) park in the profile. That’s fine. But the park doesn’t have an identity. Are we a charming one Older style park, are we a thrill seeker, are we a theme park, unsure. I’d love for it to go into the charm of a theme park but as it sits right now it feels about 33% of each of those. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
What if Geauga Lake never closed?
shark6495 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
100% this. SIX spread that park to thin. It was not near any major highways or byways and was difficult to get in and out of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Double post because it’s been years since I’ve been here: Because our parks got bought out. Americana/LeSourdeville Lake was turned into an RV park/now whatever it is. GL got purchased by big investors. Even it’s concerning that KI and CP are intertwined for their futures. GL had maybe a snowballs chance after six left but that chance was diminished when CF bought them. KK is stills trudging along and growing. GL could have done the same if they were not in CPs backyard Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Didn’t want to create a new topic This fits in here: https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2020/10/aerial-footage-of-former-geauga-lake-and-sea-world-ohio-parks.html?fbclid=IwAR3vijz93gfHP3NF8f7nR8HYcWtWTnDXJAE2p3QEasZMa4YhmUhelR7z9BA Also hello! Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
shark6495 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
I think you all (the people who don’t think it’s a big deal) are missing the point either purposely or on accident. 1: It has a higher death rate than the flu 2: it’s a vascular swelling disease. Which means that if you don’t die then you have a higher risk of organ failures and strokes. So it’s not just the death rate but also the “we don’t want people to have life long illness because of this” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Coney Island Cincinnati to remove all rides
shark6495 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Coney Island Central
I think these two situations are not alike at all. Coney is still easily accessible by major highways and is part of a major city area. Many go to Coney for the pool while the rides were a great bonus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

With the trams it’s not always going to be best for people who can. It was always a way to help people who have trouble. You have kids and no stroller? Doesn’t matter if it’s 2 rows or 30 it’s a long haul. If you are older and need frequent breaks but didn’t park in handicap, the tram helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What if King Cobra weren't torn down?
shark6495 replied to ThrillKingsFitzy's topic in Kings Island
I think it was left if I’m right? Where it turned right and you could look down and see Adventure Express? It was the first and only ride where I have grayed out on it. Almost a complete black out. But man it was fun. I hated the bicycle seat though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
We’re here we just don’t participate nearly as much as we did. For reasons you mentioned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Let’s not forget that to get to GL is/was a nightmare as well. CP is no easy drive either. But GL was way way worse. We take for granted that KI is right off a major highway. Just a few miles north from a major interchange as well. A lot of these parks were local parks that grew and people visited. KI was planned (very well IMO) from the beginning. It was time that eroded KI (loss of its hotel, camp grounds, golf course....) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
