Can't speak for Dollywood or any other ropes course except for the one I worked around and near at camp. The lines had to be checked daily, crew had to be over 18, waivers signed, etc. I can see how it would be expensive to maintain for an amusement park.

Haha I do get weird looks at the school I work out when I am reading case studies haha

So I thought I would be funny and do a quick image search for Shamu wearing clothes, to go with the discussion. The results page was even better than I could have expected https://www.google.com/search?q=shamu+wearing+clothes&client=firefox-a&hs=vTv&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Yl81VL-AEMH38AHT2oHYCA&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=609

Yes and no. So when you swallow the Epiglottis closes off sealing the air way (so we dont choke or drown every time we eat). Honey, cough drops, lemon water, etc. These can all be used to help sooth a sore throat from talking to much. When we talk to much we dry out our entire pharynx (the blue, purple, and red areas on the above pictures) because we are pushing air up and out of our lungs. Think about turning a fan onto wet paint. It eventually dries, and could crack or peel. So by drinking we are soothing these structures. So when we are drinking things they are not actually touching your vocal folds, but are actually soothing the walls up and around the voice box. Water works because it is absorbed into the body and makes all tissues (brain, throat, vocal folds, skin, muscles, heart, etc) more plump, malleable, and able to handle some stresses. Lemon and other citrus can cause more irritation just because of the acid. Think if you have a small cut on your hand and peel an orange. It would hurt. But honestly, if you are drinking water w/ lemon, honey, oranges, etc its the water that helps. The rest is for flavor or the soothing properties on the walls of your throat. The following IMAGES ARE Medical and MAY BE CONSIDERED GROSS. DO NOT LOOK IF YOU DONT WANT TO (I dont know how to hide using the spoiler key) This is the normal operation of our vocal folds/chords. They are closed (stopping air) and vibrate when we speak by pushing air through them. The following image is of a damaged vocal fold, possibly from over use As compared to a healthy one and a dehydrated one

Here is what I tell my speech therapy clients when we are concerned about voice: Avoid the loud scratchy coughs. These strain the voice more. Do smaller coughs to clear mucus from the throat. Water, water, water. The more water you can get into your body (before the vocal stress) the better. This allows the voice organs to stay plump and useful. Vocal rest. After using your voice in a very rough manner (see haunts) do not use it the next day. Whispers actually cause more damage. The whisper has the vocal folds taunt and cause them to hit more often. If you are attempting to be loud, the go to manner would be to tighten the muscles around the neck and vocal folds (voice box) to create a louder sound. This actually will cause more damage. The proper way would be to use diaphragmatic breathing exercises (breathing using the stomach muscles versus the chest) to increase sound levels. Your lungs are the power source. Avoid the following: C affine, smoking, dust, inhaled irritants, whispering, and clearing the throat. I am a licensed and accredited speech and language therapist. If you would like more information, please see ASHA.org to find a therapist in your area who could give you more specialized information....

Disney Fastpass+ at Walt Disney World

Disney has been a leader in theme/amusement park operations. Some of their stuff works brilliantly, while others fail. There is a reason this is being tested in Florida versus California. Disney feels this is the best way to make the day better for most people in the parks, while also improving their bottom line. When Fast Pass was recently renovated, it was not to ruin a few people's days but to help make everyone's days better. Maybe the fun of the park for some people is the walking around and picking and choosing which ride to go on. Some people enjoy having a set schedule and following that. If you can tell me, Joe Customer, that I have to schedule my rides for my family, but can guarantee that once I get in line, I will be able to get my ride in less than 60 minutes, I think thats awesome. I think back to the Harry Potter Ride. We waited almost 2-2.5 hours to ride that ride the first time. It was awesome, but that was a long long wait for 1 ride. If you would have told me, that I could have scheduled the ride for me to get in line at 1230 and by 130 I would be riding it, that would have been awesome. That would have been another BUtter Beer I would have drank. Or another ride on Jurassic Park. Maybe we would have spent more time at Lunch and ordered a desert or another drink. Personally, I enjoy that the regular old line is now called "Stand By." For a long while, Parks seemed to cater to the enthusiast. Bigger rides, quicker lines (for Pay), etc. It seems like a set up like this it may be tailored more towards the family. -
I still applaud the girl who got me good in the Bayou area. I was looking at some dudes make up job and was laughing and having fun. As I turned to walk farther in she appeared out of no where and got me so so good She said nothing just appeared and stood there haha

Disney Fastpass+ at Walt Disney World

A few things: Facebook trending is not based on amount of mentions but by a number manipulation in a program. Most people post negative things on the internet. Usually complainers post and very rarely do positive reviews get posted. No proof that the people complaining have any clue about what happening other than what they have read. Things change.... Life's tough baby brother, get a helmet. -
Easy way to take care of your voice is water. Water helps keep the whole vocal tract moist. If the vocal folds become dry it can lead to damage/pain.

Great read! Glad you had a great time. (Next time break that Big text into paragraphs

Are we talking about marketing or the creation of the haunts?

So wait. The employee had the gun? And people wonder why there are not as many concerts at Timberwolf? -
Ha... I chuckled a bit. Reminded me from when I was a kid and would "smoke" during the really cold weather and my exhale looked like smoke....

Went up last Sunday during the little haunt event. All rides in the park were operating except for Viking Fury and I believe Scrambler.

On Friday the Undertaker was talking to a group of girls. One said you are ugly and he jumped at her and said "I have on make up, what's your excuse!" Lol

1. If the park markets this as a way to avoid getting scared, and people scare you... I am sure there will be a long line of very very angry people demanding to talk to managers. So Im going to guess that you will not be scared by an actor while wearing this. 2. people drag friends to come with them to these things even though they are not haunt type of people. 3. some people enjoy night riding their favorite coasters and rides. So maybe they ride while others go to haunts....

On the way out last night, around 10:15/10:30, KI police were responding to something just near the drop off area. On the road side there were 3 police cars, 2 life squads, and a fire truck. Looked like a van was catywombus near the sign. Hope no one got seriously injured and maybe we should say a prayer for them

They are like on the same side of the park when compared to the water park

Does a place like Disney constantly replace and remake their animatronics or is it a constant Maintenon thing? ( I'm think Pirates, presidents, etcetera)
-
Maybe I'm naive but..... If you over state a wait time and it's less than that you have a very happy customer base, versus going the other way
-
Well could the unreliable creaky ness of them be attributed to poor upkeep?

We left as the rain opened up right around 10. We went with a group through Corn Stalkers. The whole group entered and went right, which is not part of the haunt. We went left and had some of the truly best scares of the entire evening. Haunt is very well done. Great details great scarectors, everything.
