  1. Yea I can't see how this isn't a win-win. TCM gets some new programming (and new advertising dollars) while WDW gets a refresh of an older ride.
  2. I never said it was the "end" of animation, I just said that right now the whole climate of the industry is different than it was back in the 80s/90s. Is this good or bad? I guess we'll find out. All I know is that studios are laying animators off or hiring them for temp positions (some of them anyway). And they can do this because there are so many animators now that they're happy to have the work. Yea but... (I use that way too much) that is how it is in almost all media fields. Newspapers, TV, News, etc. 20 years ago a news production staff was filled 8-10 or more people. Now you can run a whole production staff with 1 maybe 2 people. Animators are getting laid off, but the biggest difference between Pixar and say Dreamworks (or others) is the quality of the story. I dont think it has anything to do with animation. Ice Age 3 compared to Toy Story 3. The ability of the story to be told has more to do with the inability of a company to make money versus the art being used.
  3. Then again, everything happens in cycles.... In 10-20 years, what ever corporation is owning KI may deem that wooden coasters are super cheap with a great ROI....
  4. No offense Skyrider but you are making some very broad and obvious points. Of course if it's priced right with things people want then people will come. Not to mention that the likely hood of cold and miserable day/nights would be higher in November/December than in September/October.
  5. see if it were to come back as that, then you would have my attention as a paying customer. I dont need to go ride rides at KI, but I would need something to drag me out on a 30 degree night. A unique experience would be awesome. I just feel, that overall Christmas is hard to target to people to do things just because it can get so so cold out.
  6. Agreed, but most shuttle coasters I have encountered have not been worth the long wait (for me).
  7. Not sure my opinion on the above debate, as it sounds like both could be plausible, so I will leave that in ya'll's hands.... Here is my opinion on Winterfest. What could KI possibly offer than would make it interesting/worth it for families to come to it? When you look at the Zoo stuff, the zoo exhibits are still sort of open. You may not see some/most of the animals, but you can go into the cat house, see the bears, etc + see the lights and experience everything. When you go to KI, would it be just the lights? For me and my family to attend, there has to be something more than just the lights. Ice Skating would be a nice start. Include people walking around with Christmas carolers, a meet and greet (w/ Photo option) with Santa. See some Reindeer and maybe 1 or 2 shows would be great. If its not all of the above (at least) then I feel that no matter the price its almost not worth it to me as my Zoo pass works for the lights there....
  8. It looks like right after the first big drop, there is a switch track. Probably used to bring it back into the station... These are nice, but holy cow talk about poor poor poor people moving.....1 maybe 2 train operation? 1 sitting on the lift hill?
  9. Could this be a blessing in disguise? Maybe the parks in their current state go ka-blooey, but maybe a reorganised, better run, with even better animal care will emerge from this?
  10. Not to mention the Gatekeeper keeping only a certain amount of people in the ride station..... I dont get the assigned seats thing. Just let people into the station and allow them to fill in the gaps...
  11. Personally I think it may be B and D
  12. I loved the era I grew up in which was the Nick/HB hybrid area. However, taking nostalgia out of it, the theme of the land was what I enjoyed the most and looking back on miss the most. The kid bumper cars were themed to look like Flintstones cars, the carousel had actual characters you could ride with or sit next to, the music played matched the area, and each ride had a different characters "theme". I enjoy the peanuts area and can see the theme coming through in places (Snoopy vs the Red Baron versus Dick Dasterdly's biPlanes) but in others it lacks (carousel and bumper cars). Put a Snoopy statue for the kids to ride on the carousel, have a fiberglass Charlie Brown, Linus, etc to sit next to on the ride. For the bumper cars, you could theme them a few ways (great pumpkins that bump into each other, doghouses, etc.). Thats what I miss, is the little nods to each cartoon. The Jetson Orbiters was one of my favorites....
  13. While Blackfish hurts.... I havnt seen much in the way or marketing on national TV.... Not to mention that people are not as amazed as they once were by animals....
  14. Played the PS4 game in the KI arcade. Played 5 times to set up a way to win the key. Had it all set up and then.... Nope I mis hit and messed up my entire plan....
  15. That said, Auto-spiels get really old really fast, too. While at SFGAm, I got very, VERY sick of the wannabe Mr. T giving the auto-spiel for X-Flight. I'd be all for an auto-spiel in a normal human voice. Theme the rides, that's fine, encouraged even. But don't theme the auto-spiel. The results are usually nothing short of irritating. Alright, stunt team, listen up... I do appreciate a themed auto-spiel if it fits in with the ride. Sometimes they would get old for those of us who marathon rides, but think of the better options a themed spiel would have. Adventure Express for example. The same voice that talks about the missing train and closed run could also be the same one to give the spiel inside the station....
  16. Not to mention that it's at most a 90 second walk from the car to inside of the Junction....
  17. I wouldn't mind a random TRUE fact being thrown into a spiel. Or an honest interaction with a guest during a spiel. But I don't ride rides to hear the spieler I do it to have fun on a ride. I have said it a million times, the best spieler I had was from TTD who interacted with guests, did the safety thing, and was genuine. Imagine a Bat spiller saying something like: Enjoy Bat, please keep your arms, legs, and all other body parts in the ride at all times. On your way up our (height) incline look out and you can see our greenhouse where KI grows all our plants. Enjoy your ride... Or soar over our former Lion Country safari... Etc
  18. I don't mind a building like a secondary arcade being used, but what worries me is that part of the park already lacks a lot of stuff that with the arcade being gone it will appear even deader...
  19. So sitting down and watching the new Smurfs 1 movie (with NPH) it would make an interesting dark ride experience. Especially how they transport them selves back to the NY area. The taking of the wrong turn, the dipping, the diving, the water fall, and being sucked through a giant Vortex.... Dont know why but it made it seem like the perfect ending to a dark ride....
  20. The new Drop Tower may be nice, but I think the point is WHY. In the first year of reopening, why even risk putting that weird/horrible memory back into people's minds.
  21. Anything that makes KI a fantasy come to life is good for me. I see the bigger picture now that I have a son. It doesnt really matter what the costumed character is, as long as there is a one. It doesnt matter about the name/history of a ride as long as its enjoyed in fun. The magic when we (Older people on here 27 and up) were kids included seeing cartoon characters come to life. It was walking down I-Street and hearing music. It was looking at the front of buildings. Getting a blue ice cream cone or stopping to get fudge. It was riding a ride and measuring yourself against peers and siblings. When you walked into the park, you forgot about the outside worries. KI has been doing this. From making the entrance look great with the brick pavers to the remodel of the area around Banshee. Maybe it lacks a "theme" per say but it does create a magical illusion. Seeing these structures on I-Street get some love is also a huge improvement. Honestly, how many "gift shops" do we need side by side on both sides of I-Street. Honestly, I couldnt tell you what was different from one store to the other. The additions coming to Planet Snoopy are wonderful. The more I think about it the more excited I am becoming. I will get the opportunity to make memories with my son. These Eagles are not the original but the Woodstock Gliders serve the same purpose. A ride that can be enjoyed by many. I am slightly disappointed by the destruction of the Kid Stage area near the back. As I have said, it was a wonderful place to watch a show and cool down in the shade. Plus the Charlie Brown show was great. My son loved the singing, and the crew always were super nice to the kiddos. The only thing I would have loved more about this announcement would be if they mentioned a return of a kid friendly show in the kid part of the park. This past year, it was nice to see the Peanuts crew out and about on the stage in front of the Eiffel Tower. But during the day with all of that heat, sometimes the kids (and parents) need a shadey kid orientated show....
  22. It's pretty obvious were I got this (for all those playing at home it's a little thing I like to call Facebook and on a page titled: Kings Island)Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk Not sure how your screen grab of your phone is obvious where you got it.
  23. No plans for a kid centered show? Similar to the Charlie Brown Hoedown
  24. Your question was answered in the two posts above yours. One would assume that a patron attending Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens is expecting to go to the park and enjoy themselves in a safe environment. Nobody should ever go to a theme park expecting to be trampled, no matter what event they are holding. That's just ludicrous to even suggest. Edit: Got bumped to the next page Im not sure I have every gone anywhere (or will be going anywhere) where the expectation is to be trampled by others. Unless I am going to the Running of the Bulls. Thats fair, but unless its marketed that way. I went to the Haunted Hoochie. They let you know that the actors can and will touch you, they will say things to upset you etc. The moment a park does that, may be the last time they have well behaved crowds...
  25. Back in High School (10 years ago) we had a few dances there. It was a great experience. But as for weddings, not sure.
