  1. Blue Streak, especially in the front row, is a great ride. I am firmly in the 'this looks awesome' camp as far as Gatekeeper goes. $30 million total investment is a very large chunk of the cap-ex budget. Add in the cost of of CGA's new woodie and that could very well be over half of what CF spends for 2013.
  2. Why does every ride have to have El Toro's airtime or Dragster's intensity to be worth riding? Was Wild Eagle the most exciting thing ever built? No. But it had a great first drop, great location, was extremely reride-able, and was just plain fun. Isn't having fun the whole point? I don't think many people would say that CP got worse with this addition.
  3. According to a couple posts over at TPR the website http://www.cedarpoint.com/Gatekeeper/the-ride was briefly active today before being taken down again. Looks like we may have a confirmed name.
  4. I suspect you those that are speculating that this is some massive ride are getting a bit ahead of themselves. Perhaps that rocket is blasting off to a planet full of peanuts.
  5. I think you would find that that is far from the only reason.
  6. He was speaking of their flyers, not all of their models.
  7. Wasn't that picture just a mock up that some CP fan made on there own? I remember seeing that before but I thought it turned out to be fake.
  8. So they can sell more Flash Passes. Or charge an extra $15-$20 for the privilege of adding a ride on said new ride to the passes they have sold. Or both.
  9. I have absolutely no way to confirm if there is any validity to this but the odd rumor floating around enthusiast forums has been that they are getting an El Loco coaster (i.e. Steel Hawg at Indiana Beach).
  10. With the topper track the top three layers of the seven layer track are replaced by steel, the bottom four layers of the track are still wood.
  11. The top layer of track on all wooden coasters is steel.
  12. Probably, it has topper track, not the all steel I-beam track that Texas Giant got as part of its redo.
  13. Apparently the ride layout was briefly available on the silverdollarcity2013 website before being password protected. According to the picture there are two barrel rolls in the valley near the end of the ride.
  14. I would vote for D too. The two parks compliment each other well in terms of rides and the atmosphere (not to mention the food) at Dollywood is hard to beat.
  15. A poster over at SDCFans has posted that there is a roll down in the valley. Also that the ride will have trains made by Gerstlauer and will have OTSRs. Again all rumor at this time but the announcement date is the 9th so we don't have long to wait.
  16. Wow, betwixt? I don't think I have seen that one since high school.
  17. Its gonna take a while to take it down, and it is doubtful a replacement, if one is indeed going in, would be ready before 2014. Why announce it now when you can use it to boost season pass sales next year?
  18. Personally, I would love to see a floorless there.
  19. I have to admit that Mantis wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be when I rode it for the first time, but it certainly is no Millennium Force, in my opinion. To each his own though, thats one of the great parts about this hobby.
  20. Don't get your hopes up. There are other ways KI might make a splash next year.
  21. X-Works doesn't mean anything. Its just what B&M puts on the labels these days instead of the client name. One of the pics has a label stating it is a station element. EDIT: Also the "SC" in the part number is for their sitting coasters (including floorless, which do not have their own designation in the part number). So it is either a sitting coaster or a floorless.
