Of course, the 2015 additions more than make up for it. Juke Box Diner's menu options (burgers, chicken tenders, hot dogs & fries) are offered in plenty of other locations. My guess is that they want to reduce crowds there by having dining plan customers go elsewhere.

BUSCH PARKS: BLACKSTONE, now what?
malem replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^ The last time I looked, it was cheaper to buy gold passes to both Carowinds and Kings Dominion than to buy a single platinum pass. Adding BGW would certainly be one way to increase the value of a platinum pass such that the price makes sense there. Perhaps more significantly, they could be completely sure that another buyer wouldn't, for example, install a giga coaster at BGW. As for BGT, one factor in favor of a Cedar Fair acquisition might be the expansion in Charlotte. A second park in the southeast would help balance the regional revenue picture. If the Busch Gardens parks are acquired by another US park chain, I still think that SIX is more likely than FUN. As Terp mentioned, they have a more favorable debt load (thanks to bankruptcy), and they have a national footprint which the Busch Gardens parks would compliment. FUN would certainly want to make sure that SIX didn't get the parks cheaply. One thing I still do wonder: what would Cedar Fair call the parks if they bought them? -
^ I actually do see the problem in source mode; I normally keep the editor on this site in its default mode. Considering that it's affecting multiple browsers, it's probably a CKeditor bug exposed by the browser updates. This certainly isn't the first time that FCKeditor/CKeditor has been slow to become compatible with new browser releases.

^ It also works for me with Firefox 36 and Chrome on Windows 7. Does text wrap here: http://ckeditor.com/demo ? Perhaps a hijacker (eg. adware/spyware) is modifying pages, or perhaps a Windows component used for displaying text is malfunctioning in some way.

^ Word wrap works for me, with Firefox on Linux. Try clearing your browser cache.

Cedar Point Winter Chill-Out
malem replied to malem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Cedar Downs isn't going anywhere. Since Cedar Point started moving employee housing off the peninsula, there has been speculation about the removal of the Cedars dorms (formerly the Cedars Hotel). -

^^ The beach is on the other side of the peninsula from the area being opened up. With respect to trees, are you referring to that area (formerly with Good Time Theater, Cedars dorms, Turnpike Cars, & Dodgems) or to the area getting a makeover near Wicked Twister and Gatekeeper? -

^ It could be both a hint and a diversion. Such as how Cedar Point dropped a "Banshee" hint in 2012. Or Kings Island's "The Bat" website "leak" in 2013. Or it could mean nothing at all (eg. Ride Sally Ride!), or it could be entirely on point. Not knowing is part of the fun. Regardless, it seems to be doing what it was supposed to do: get people talking about Cedar Point. I think it depends on the rider's height. I like Maverick but can only do two rides a day because of how much my head bangs. I've tried different rows/seats, leaning forward, pushing backward...it just doesn't not hurt. I'm 5'2" so I struggle with OTS harnesses. I'm too short to push my shoulders against the top like my taller friends. I'm happy with the harness system on Gatekeeper and Banshee as I can ride with no pain. I'm looking forward to the new Maverick restraints! Leaning into the turns solved that problem for me. I didn't enjoy my first ride on it at all due to the restraint, but it's now my favorite roller coaster at CP after learning to ride "correctly". Amusement rides shouldn't require a special technique to avoid discomfort, so it's good to see that they're addressing it. Maybe DiamondAceExpress will give it another try. -
Cedar Point Winter Chill-Out
malem replied to malem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^ It's still a go according to Tony Clark via Twitter. (https://twitter.com/tonyclarkcp) He said that a weather postponement would be announced by 5pm Thursday. It looks like northern Ohio will escape the worst of the snow. Hopefully those attending from elsewhere in Ohio are headed up this evening, ahead of the storm. -

To those driving up, stay safe and leave plenty of travel time! It looks like most of Ohio will see snow tonight and through the day tomorrow. I had considered buying a ticket for the 8:30am tour and getting back to Columbus by early evening for my prior commitment. That would not have been a good idea with this forecast. -
Theft and impersonating police officers... it's really a shame that the culprits weren't arrested. After remotely erasing data, I probably would have given them the code - so that they could keep producing evidence against themselves. For the future, plastic bags work well to protect valuables in your pockets on water rides.

To me, it sounds like cheap encouragement to stay through the end of the season.

Could KI (and other Cedar Fair properties) finally be getting WiFi?
malem replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
^ With ubiquitous mobile data plans, I would be very surprised if there were access charges. Would it be free? Of course not. Forms of "payment" might include: Tracking your movement within the park Tracking your repeat visits (if not already a season passholder) Upon connection, directing you to sponsors' websites, KI's mobile app, KI's website, etc Cash, if you want your packets in an Internet Fast Lane* *As Terp might say, no trademarks were harmed with this post. EDIT: And no virtual queue systems were involved, regardless of the forum's capitalization filter. -
Kentucky Kingdom was prominently featured on the front of a Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch advertising insert last spring.

If you want to disagree without comment, just +1 an existing rebuttal. Having a combination of upvoting/downvoting is useful for filtering a firehose of content, such as on comment sections of news stories. In a community discussion thread, responding as to why you disagree is much more useful than "downvoting" it without comment.

^ The "site staff" have repeatedly said that they count on this community moderating itself Certain people were upset by some trademark abuse here in the past, so this site instituted a zero tolerance policy of sorts on that subject. It's really a minor issue; properly capitalizing names isn't hard.
