CoasterMania! questions
jcgoble3 replied to jcgoble3's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There's no pedestrian path outside the park to get between the main lot and the resorts, so it sounds like you would be going to the admissions window at the resorts gate. Or perhaps the beach gate, if that's open early. The issue is that it limits it to "open" admission booths. It seems to me that it wouldn't make sense for CP to bring in enough employees to staff the windows at every gate that early for relatively few people (compared to the general public that won't show up until closer to 10:00), hence why I asked. I'll be there on Thursday as well, so I can check with Guest Relations that day if needed, but I was just looking for a basic idea here. Thanks. I wasn't sure if they would go all the way around to the main gate or if the marina was as far as they would go. -
So this year will be my first year at CoasterMania!, and I have a few questions. Where do I go at CP to register that morning? I assume I have to go to the main gate? If so, what's the best way to get from Hotel Breakers to the main gate, preferably without having to move my car from the Hotel Breakers parking lot? Will the resort shuttles be running at 7am, and do they stop at the main gate? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it opens at 11:00 AM each day. I could be wrong on that, though.

Thank you for expanding the poll. Country now has a vote.
-
I am mildly offended that country music is not in the list, and I refuse to vote "other" because country is a major genre and should not be lumped together with who knows how many minor genres. It's certainly worthy of getting its own voting option if whatever the hell "Jamaican" is gets one.

Incredible report! Thank you for allowing me to "experience" the Tokyo Disney Resort through your detailed report, as I will probably never be able to do so for real myself.

Reading your posts is not a problem. Divining what they mean, on the other hand, is often a challenge.

On Friday, May 3, I overheard them telling someone else in the Reds Grille that they were not selling alcohol until 5:00 pm due to all of the kids in the park for the Education Day. Which I think is a smart move.

As I said, the guy who asked me about KIC had a nametag that said _____ and IIRC identified him as a supervisor. That fits with what you said, since _____ would be a common shorthand for _____.

I would guess that Friday will be less busy. Why? The Bradys are a one-day event; everyone that wants to see them must come on Sunday. On the other hand, the military free admission is for the entire Memorial Day weekend, and since Friday is a work/school day for many, I would imagine that most will wait until the actual weekend to take advantage of the deal. Now, this is purely a guess, and I could be way off, so take it with a grain of salt.

Great report and photos! Was he by any chance a supervisor named _____ If so, he asked me the same question Wednesday. I asked him if he was on here, and IIRC he said that he just reads KIC a lot. This is an awesome description of the ride!

Which one? There's several of those commercials, and I find them all equally annoying. I agree with tjpavlik, though. The Gold Pass deadline is approaching.

I was only comparing actual perks/discounts and lack thereof between last year and this year, not speculating on possibilities, but if you want to go there, I'll bite. The answer is... complicated. Let me explain. With FUN Perks, I had the opportunity to work toward significant rewards such as discounts on Fast Lane and season pass renewal. So I would have eaten in-park no matter what, because I knew that I was working my way toward something that I would really enjoy and/or benefit from. With a flat discount, it would have to make the LaRosa's meal not just equal or lower in price compared to Waffle House, but lower by enough of a margin to warrant eating something I'm not in the mood for over going to Waffle House and getting something that I am in the mood for—because while I do limit my spending on KI trips, I am usually willing to spend a buck or two more to be more satisfied as long as I have the money to do so. So would the discount have been sufficient to cause me to eat a less preferred meal? Let's see here. I spent exactly $11, including tax and tip, at Waffle House. I'd have to look at the LaRosa's menu again to refresh my memory on the exact prices. For the sake of this discussion, let's assume roughly $8 for the entree + $4 for the drink (because while I'll get the free ice water throughout the day to stay hydrated, I can't stand eating a meal with plain water); that makes $12 less 20% = $9.60 + 6.5% tax = $10.23. That's a bit of a savings, but not much. So the answer is that I would probably still spend the extra fraction of a dollar to get something more to my liking at Waffle House. Funny, because I've advocated several times on here for the park to put in a flat, across-the-board discount on food and merchandise for gold pass holders. Call me a hypocrite for not wanting to take advantage of said discount, I guess.

*makes a mental note to stay away from Beech Bend* Thanks for the report.

Example of how FUN Perks would have kept my money in the park: Yesterday when I was ready for dinner at 6:15, I had planned on doing either Hank's or I-Street Skyline, only to find that both had closed early. I already had Panda Express for lunch, didn't have the money to do the Reds Grille, and eating outdoors was not a reasonable option because of the wind that would blow my napkins, etc. away. That left only LaRosa's in the Festhaus, and nothing there looked interesting. Had FUN Perks still been around, I would have picked something from LaRosa's anyway, but without it, I bailed and hit Waffle House instead.

Nice photos. You have an eye for detail; I didn't see any of that new stuff in FOF. Glad to run into you this (actually yesterday now) afternoon!

What do Cedar Point overnight accommodations have to do with Kings Island's Dinosaurs Alive?

Great photos! Thanks for sharing!

I don't have kids, but some of the parents on here that have experienced that with their own kids can give you tips on getting him to maximum height (posture is important!). The one thing I will point out is that rather than being measured at every ride, when you arrive you should go to the height measurement station just inside and to the left of the front gate. They will measure him once and give him a color-coded wristband indicating his official height, and that can then be shown any time a ride op questions his height (or more likely, the ride ops will see the wristband and not even ask).

I rode it around 1:15 today. Later in the afternoon, I heard a random guest say that it had a rollback earlier; I can't verify that claim, so take it with a grain of salt. EDIT: The previous edits to the Wikipedia article were well-meaning but just misguided. This is either a drastic overreaction or simply pure vandalism, and it took nearly an hour for someone to fix it. This is why you should not trust Wikipedia for information without verifying the sources and the edit history.

I'll echo those who said Surf Dog. It packs a fairly big punch for a "kiddie ride".

Just wanted to let everyone know that I got a tip from one of the ride operators on Dodgem today. He told me that the cars are not all the same speed. The two fastest cars are the bright yellow ones, number 35 and number 9. I drove car number 35 today, and the difference in speed compared to other cars was definitely noticeable, at least to me. Try one of them out!

Interesting. Thanks. I'm going to bed right now, but I'll see what happens with BLSC when I'm at the park tomorrow.

I'm referring to these two edits: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Backlot_Stunt_Coaster&diff=555151395&oldid=548639219 http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Backlot_Stunt_Coaster&diff=555158030&oldid=555154366 Click "Next edit" on each one and you'll see that I "reverted" (undid) both edits. All I'm trying to do here is find out if BLSC was down at all today and if so, for how long, so I can better prevent further edits like this.
