  1. What was the problem with Gwazi? Was it poor design, poor construction, or poor maintenance? Or was it a combination of those, or something else entirely? (Terpy's probable response: "Yes." I'm too lazy to rephrase. )
  2. ^^ "Recently redundant"? That's an interesting way of putting things.
  3. Let me guess: A revamp of the fountains will be announced before opening day? It's a stab in the dark, but your thread bumps tend to mean something important...
  4. Great report! Here's the two group photos that were only on my phone: Friday night in the waterpark: Saturday afternoon at Golden Corral:
  5. That article I can read. It is not blocked by a paywall. Yet the other one is, and without an apparent reason why. Color me confused.
  6. You won't find it. The thread was deleted fairly quickly. LOL!
  7. Once again, I am unable to read an Orlando Sentinel story because it is locked behind a paywall. It is not a case of hitting the limit of free articles for the week/month/whatever; it simply cannot be viewed without a premium subscription. Clearing all cookies from that domain does not allow me to view the article (as often works with free article limits).
  8. That was last year. Seeing as how I don't consider the Banshee Construction Progress thread a "true" 2014 thread, since the majority of its life was in 2013, I would have to say that my favorites have been the Where's Goble thread (yes, I enjoyed that), and the Thunderbird speculation thread. On the latter, I may be biased, since I was present at HW for both the original "uncovering" of the journal and the announcement itself. Dishonorable mention goes to the Kentucky Kingdom thread, and all of the screw-ups that were discussed in there this year. Every time I would load the forum list and see that that thread had the last post in the "other parks" section, my first thought was "what did they screw up now?"
  9. This was announced on Facebook this evening. Sparkler has been moved over between Thunderbird's launch track and vertical loop, and will now be known as Crow's Nest.
  10. Do I spy a large trim brake at the top of the drop? If so, *sigh*
  11. It's been "pretty complete" for a few years, and they keep saying that it is "opening next year", but it never does. In short, I'll believe it when I see people riding it, and not a moment before.
  12. "66 Hours to See": http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2014/12/07/66-hours-see/ Argh! What could it be this time?
  13. An 890-square-foot apartment, with no yard to maintain, etc. would be "luxury" to me. I currently live in a HOUSE that is only 864 square feet and needs repairs. Perspective. One person's trash is another person's luxury.
  14. ohiocolts would probably be happy to give them back their old one.
  15. Top right on the KICentral theme, bottom right on the IP.Board theme. And yes, it is broken and has been for a long time.
  16. There are three things that are certain in life: death, taxes, and spam.
  17. Banshee, hands down. The new flying scooters may top Banshee, but a proper judgment cannot be made on that until they actually open next spring.
  18. The park has been reasonably active on Facebook, pushing $60 season passes along with a couple posts from IAAPA. Oh, and this shot from Monday: (Source: Kentucky Kingdom on Facebook)
  19. Houses start at the low, low price of $1.8 million: http://abcnews.go.com/Lifestyle/photos/inside-walt-disney-world-resorts-homes-sale-26969450/image-26969852
  20. According to its page on the KI website, it is officially located on International Street.
  21. As of last December, Great Wolf Lodge had one of those in its arcade, with the same two coasters. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work right.
  22. IIRC, there is another clothing store up front on the other side of I-Street, between Photo Memories and Girl Space.
  23. HW PR director Paula posted this on the HoliWood Nights Facebook group: Simply beautiful.
  24. And depending on how well the employee is trained, you may not need a season pass at all. On my one visit, I walked up to a drink station and asked for a regular (21 oz) drink cup. The employee rang up a $1 souvenir cup refill and handed me a large (32 oz) cup. I looked at the employee with an obvious "huh?" expression on my face, and she assured me that that was correct. Incidentally, that was my one and only encounter with the food and beverage department, as I did not eat at Kentucky Kingdom due to my short time there (~4.5 hours). I wonder how rampant problems like that were and if they made any appreciable impact on the park's bottom line?
  25. I see Diamondback's rider count dropped by over a quarter of a million. I wonder if the new seat belts had any impact on that?
