  1. Haven't updated this in a while; 45 days until Banshee awakens from her slumber! :)

  2. I voted "Other" because all these elements make for a great coaster. Yes, Maverick is my favorite because it yanks you down the drops and around the turns with blazing speed, but I think theming also has to count for something too. Mystery Mine may not be the tallest and fastest, but that second drop with the really gives it a nice touch. There are also other factors others than those listed, such as nostalgia, which is pretty important to me (which explains why Adventure Express, The Bat, and Vortex are my most ridden KI coasters and also why I love Firehawk so much!) and location. Location explains why Gatekeeper is so visually appealing and why The Beast is so great at night! So yeah, I hope that explains it well enough! EDITed to add blurb about location.
  3. I voted for Intamin because my favorite coaster (Maverick) is an Intamin, but honestly, both companies have really good rides. On Intamin's side, we have Drop Tower, Millennium Force, Volcano, Disaster Transport and, as I mentioned previously, Maverick. On team B&M, we have Banshee, Batman (SFGAM), and the Incredible Hulk, plus Kumba looks cool and though I've not yet ridden one (that will hopefully change this summer...) floorless coasters have always seemed cool to me. So, in the end, I guess it doesn't really matter to me as there are good rides that have been made by either manufacturer.
  4. I never stayed at the KI resort, but I did go there once for a 2-day church retreat in 5th/6th grade. I think I won a CD or something. Anyway, the thing I'll most remember is seeing the buses come to KI from the resort.
  5. I voted BGW/KD because those are the first two (of three) stops on my Edge of the Millennium Tour this year. Also, although I hear that NJFTP is awesome (and looks cool on Roller Coaster Tycoon 2), the biggest pulls for me to go there would really only be Nitro (since it's a retro B&M hyper) and Batman (because the one at SFGAM was awesome). Also, Hershey has Lightning Racers and Storm Runner, so those would really be my pulls for me to go there. The choice is ultimately up to you, and whatever you choose, you have to be happy with your decision. Hope this helps.
  6. If I left Ohio, I'd miss being near my hometown of Blue Ash, Kings Island, and Maverick! Oh, and #13 FTW (for the win); from Maverick to Banshee to Millennium Force to The Beast, we've got some of the best!
  7. Haven't seen the movie; but from the video, that Avatar area looks like it'll be really cool!
  8. Wow, thanks! I was just thinking "it would be cool if there was an Action Zone time-lapse" after seeing that Rivertown gif, and then I scrolled down and there it is!
  9. I haven't officially made a decision on my favorite KIC thread, but I must say that the Decoding 2014 thread was definitely one to remember. I remember having to catch up a few pages (anywhere from 3-5) every time I got on the computer. Good times!
  10. When you write a poem about the offseason for a class and consider your next poetry assignment to be about The Bat (1993, not 1980's). EDITed for date clarification
  11. Interesting video. Honestly, I'm thinking a Soak City expansion in 2016 and maybe a new coaster in 2017 along with some new flats. Also, not a fan of the proposed GCI location... I think a certain butcher and his family might have something to say about that as well...
  12. Good stuff; thanks for sharing! I'm totally loving that Blood Drums is playing in the background!
  13. I voted for Action Zone, Waterworks, Soak City, Pre-Diamondback Rivertown, Hanna Barbara, Nickelodeon and Tower Gardens- Paramount years. Action Zone is one of my favorite areas in the park and I was little when Paramount's Action Zone was new. I voted for both Waterworks and Soak City because while I grew up with Waterworks, I was (and still am) very impressed by the new Soak City paint job. I also voted for pre-Diamondback Rivertown because Swan Lake was pretty cool. Regarding the kid's areas, I voted for Hanna-Barbara and Nick because I grew up with a mixture of both. Finally, voted for Tower Gardens during the Paramount years because the walkway with stars was cool and the waterfall actually worked back then! EDIT: Just to add: although Boomerang Bay might have been more themed than WaterWorks, I picked WaterWorks because nostalgia.
  14. When you repeat the Kings Island closing announcements/Haunt closing announcements when the establishment where you work is closing for the night (like I did tonight!) And for those wondering, I don't believe they do employee yearbooks anymore (I've worked there 2006-2010; 2013-2014), or if they have, I don't know anything about them...
  15. In no particular order: 1. Disaster Transport (Cedar Point) 2. Tomb Raider: The Ride (Kings Island) 3. King Cobra (Kings Island) 4. Son of Beast- with loop (Kings Island) 5. Catapult (Six Flags New England)- this thing looked awesome. Yes, I know I could go across the pond and ride Slammer at Thorpe Park, but still...
  16. So, there's some construction going on at the park that supposedly has to do with #KingdomSeven (Tweet from Kentucky Kingdom's Twitter page, which links to a picture on their Facebook page) EDIT: I hope I embedded this tweet correctly...
  17. 70 days until KI re-opens for the 2015 season :)

  18. I voted a few hours ago and here's what I chose: 1. B&M, specifically I was thinking of a B&M Floorless at the time I made my decision. 2. Nope. 3. 1990-1999 (probably early/mid 90's or so...) 4. Scooby because I never rode Phantom Theatre and I have fond memories of Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle.
  19. Don't know how I feel about this as I rarely use my phone at the park, which is why it's hard for me to meet up with other members. Seriously, though, I've only used it a few times to get on KIC and Twitter and that's pretty much about it. I go to enjoy the park on my off days and take in the park unattached from my mobile device. I understand some people use their phone for the app and to take selfies and whatnot, but as Terpy would say, I guess I'm not the target market. That being said, I really don't have much of an opinion except for that I guess its good for the park. EDIT: OK, I just realized I also use my phone to take pictures while in the park, so I guess I use it more than I thought. But again, taking pictures doesn't require the internet as I don't immediately upload them to Twitter/Flikr/KIC. So, my point is still somewhat valid.
  20. I just voted for the new slide complex's name. I picked Hurricane Heights because the logo looks pretty cool
  21. When you constantly think of great questions for the "This or That?" thread
  22. Touche! I guess what I meant to say is I'm not a fan of deep-fried food items that are either not normally deep fried (such as Oreos, Twinkies, etc.) or excessively deep fried.
  23. Deep fried anything sounds like bad news to me! I will say that Cedar Point's cheese fries are amazing; there was so much cheese that I had to eat my fries with a fork!
  24. Happy February everyone; just 76 more days until Opening Day 2015! :)
