  1. On the topic of food trucks, KI had a food truck set up this past season in the waterpark near Breaker's Bay that sold ice cream and pizza. I also remember seeing a LaRosa's food truck one year in the food/vendor area at SpiritSong.
  2. (In reply to Tuskin) I think so, only because we've never had an full circuit inverted at KI before (and no, Flying Ace doesn't count as it's a family coaster). Some could say the same for Diamondback (the park's first "true" hypercoaster), but we did have a wooden hypercoaster back in the day
  3. I've ridden both Superman (at SFGAmerica) and Firehawk and I'd have say that I like Firehawk more, only because I've ridden it the most (it's been about 5-6 years since I rode Superman that one time) and lately it's been a really fun ride.
  4. I'd say Banshee's announcement was a pretty big highlight (if not the biggest highlight) of the 2013 season. Although I was not able to make the announcement due to a prior commitment, I remember hearing an announcement of a "Special announcement at 10 PM" over the loudspeakers while sweeping in Planet Snoopy and getting so excited about what was to come. When I think of 2013, I think of these highlights (in order of occurrence): Opening Day, finding out about Banshee, KIC Day (with the Banshee and Haunt Tours- I still have the lanyard from that day!), working Haunt, going through my first Haunt maze by myself (and Blood Drums), Closing Day (especially the amazing ride on Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown in about 40 degree weather!), and the great times I've had working as a sweep and attending the park as a guest this season. I feel like I've grown a lot this season and I've enjoyed getting to know more and more KIC members as the season has gone on.
  5. That batwing looks huge! Approximately 4 more months till Opening Day...
  6. To me, KIC is a great place to be! In all seriousness, though, KIC is a diverse group of amazing people united by our love of roller coasters and amusement parks (especially Kings Island- hence the name of the site)! And to answer BB1's question, yes I do get some industry news here, but I mostly come here because we have interesting discussion topics and I know a good number of members on the site. Happy New Years everyone!
  7. Great trip report; that was a great day
  8. 9 days till Christmas! :)

  9. ^^ (in response to Voicetek's post on faith responding to Thrill Biscuits post)(Sorry, the quote function didn't work for me for some reason...) Amen! MDMC, avoiding a one word post
  10. I'd planning on going to Kentucky Kingdom, Six Flags St. Louis and Silver Dollar City next year. EDIT: The SFSTL/SDC trip may or may not be happening...
  11. I really like that idea. We could also have decades themed contests, where you have to ride all the rides that are in their still in mostly their original condition from a certain decade. For example, rides like this from the 70's would include riding Racer, Beast, and the Carousel (Woodstock Express wouldn't count because it's no longer yellow as it was when it was Scooby Doo). I did this once for rides that were in their original condition (name change ok, no repaint) from 2001 last season (August of 2012). It was about 20 rides (mostly flats) and I was exhausted at the end.
  12. I just tried KIC on Tapatalk on my new smartphone and I officially think I like the desktop version of KIC better

  13. ...you listen to certain songs and it reminds you of the park (I can think of at least 3 that remind me of this year's Haunt )
  14. You're thinking about the cool trips to theme parks that you're going to take next year (I know I am!!! )!
  15. That switchback coaster seems cool; it sort of reminds me of a tilt coaster or a pipeline coaster like UltraTwister
  16. Hey all, I just read on Screamscape that Behind the Thrills is conducting a poll this week for the best theme park website of the year. The best part is that our awesome site that is KIC made the list!!! We currently have 0.78% of the vote (tied with Carowinds Connection and Inside the Magic) so don't forget to vote for KIC!!!! Link is here: http://behindthethrills.com/2013/11/thrill-weekly-poll-best-theme-park-website-of-the-year/
  17. Check out Lightning Run's new trains; they look pretty awesome! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=671283452905830&l=f76816b38f
  18. Great trip report so far; I really like all the pictures!
  19. Ok, so after re-watching the video, I'm totally pumped to ride Lighting Run (I was originally "meh" about it)
  20. After looking at the map and new coaster, this is pretty cool and I wish Kentucky Kingdom all the best. Honestly, I think my favorite part of this is that capsule drop slide (Deep Water Dive) as I've never been on one before. I'm excited to ride Thunder Run and somewhat excited about Lightning Run (who knows, it could be awesome), but I think this park will be more focused on the overall collection of rides rather than just focusing on the coasters.
  21. So, I just looked at the webcam for the first time and WOW they've got a lot done...zero-g/barrel roll is officially finished and the drop into the valley (?) looks almost done Oh, and random question, was it known where X-Flight/Firehawk would have gone in the park had it been installed in 2001 instead of 2007?
  22. I don't think this has been mentioned yet but on KI's site, the ride's name has officially has been changed from Flight Deck to The Bat: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/rides/Thrill-Rides-12-14-11-44/Flight-Deck... however, the URL remains the same (Flight Deck).
  23. I just clicked on a link on Kentucky Kingdom's Twitter page and got this: https://soundcloud.com/kentucky-kingdom/mystery-ride-sound-2 Hmm....
  24. I really think Rita looks cool with the Dark Forest re-theme... I really like the faded colors and those vines on the entrance sign give it an awesome jungle look that almost reminds me of Tomb Raider for some reason
