  1. I'll give my $.02. I'd first like to say that I'm pleased to hear that CharleytheDinosaur's friend had a good time and is eager to try more coasters. When talking about how riders passed through coaster milestones at KI, I progressed through these as such: Beastie (Woodstock Express), then forwards Racer, then Top Gun (Flight Deck)/Adventure Express (this was roughly around the same time), then Son of Beast (with loop) and finally Flight of Fear (Reptar/Flying Ace and backwards Racer were somewhere in there as those were my first invert and my first backwards coaster, respectively)*. By the time I'd conquered Flight of Fear, I thought I could handle anything (the first Vortex ride didn't even seem like a big deal!). Finally, for everyone out there; do NOT force people to ride rides. Showing them coasters and trying to get people to go on them is fun, but forcing someone to go on something they don't want to (or having a possible rider fear that someone will force them on a ride they don't want to go on- trust me, I know!) is never a good idea! *I wrote the old names as the rides were named this way when I first rode them. Also, Volcano (at Kings Dominion) was my first launched coaster (occurred after Son of Beast) but I didn't include this in the list because it's not at Kings Island. EDIT: There's one more milestone I left out... Firehawk was my first flying coaster.
  2. Just got back from a short trip to the park; rode everything in AZ/Oktoberfest except for Invertigo, Slingshot and Skyflyer :)

  3. Great job Shaggy; you rock! And about the trying the "coolickle", probably not. I'm not a fan of pickles.
  4. Happy National Roller Coaster Day everybody! :)

  5. I've got two, the first of which just happened about 10 minutes ago: You might be a KI addict if you accelerate your car to the proper speed limit and immediately think of Flight of Fear (actually, the force of the acceleration was more like Backlot than FoF ) You might be a KI addict if the sound your wheelbarrow makes reminds you of Son of Beast's lift hill (as I've thought many times while working in the yard!).
  6. I was actually thinking about this today. Since Banshee is a darkly (as in spooky) themed female ride, I think it'd be appropriate to mostly play music from hard rock bands with female lead singers such as Evanescence, Flyleaf, We are The Fallen, and Halestorm (there are probably more hard rock bands with female lead singers, but the four I mentioned are all I can think of at the moment). Specifically, the following are a list of songs that I think would be cool in Banshee's queue line: Sweet Sacrifice- Evanescence My Last Breath- Evanescence Haunted- Evanscence I get wicked- Thousand Foot Krutch Falls Apart- Thousand Foot Krutch I’m so sick- Flyleaf Red Sam- Flyleaf St. John- We are the Fallen Tear the whole world down- We are the Fallen Through Hell- We Are the Fallen Salvation- Skillet Not Gonna Die (plus the cool intro -for those who have listened to Rise, you know what I'm talking about...)- Skillet Comatose- Skillet Falling inside the Black- Skillet Not Strong Enough- Apocalyptica
  7. I am very encouraged that Thunder Run's rehab is progressing so quickly; bring on 2014
  8. Well, I am totally pumped for Banshee; bring on 2014! While walking through the park yesterday, I was picturing how the ride would look from different places in the park (such as the Parking lot, I-Street and Coney) EDIT: I also really like the Banshee's screech; it reminds me of Rodan's screech from the Godzilla movies!
  9. I may be in the minority here, but I like Action Zone just the way it is and don't think it should be re-themed too much. And for me, Banshee just adds to the awesomeness that is my favorite area in the park!
  10. Banshee it is... so pumped for this :)

  11. Oh my gosh... this looks awesome and a lot better than I expected... I saw the layout and I'm like... we have a batwing (the pretzel-loopy thing)!!! This is gonna be awesome!!!!
  12. I'm so pumped for 10 PM... Bring. It. On!!!!
  13. A little more than 24 hours 'till the big announcement... who's ready? I know I am :)

  14. A little more than 24 hours 'till the big announcement... who's ready? I know

  15. I was actually thinking about the possibility of KI adding some carnival-like flats yesterday when I was watching Shake, Rattle and Roll. I think most of the "crazy flat rides" (as I call them) would do well in Coney Mall but I think you might have to coax some people (like me) onto some of the crazier-looking ones. On that note, this might be up for consideration as it could pay tribute to the old Wheel of Fortune ride: .
  16. Thanks Dane , I will definitely be following along Thursday night as I will not be able to make it to the announcement.
  17. I'd like to slightly change my list... (old list is above, new list below; changes are in bold.) 1. Invertigo 2. Flight Deck 3. Racer 4. Flight of Fear 5. Beast 6. Diamondback 7. Adventure Express 8. Firehawk (because my last ride was quite amazing! ) 9. Woodstock 10. Backlot 11. Vortex (because the last two rides have been rough) 12. Flying Ace
  18. Candy: I'm not much of a sweets guy, but I like Smarties, butterscotch Dum-Dums and Cherry (I think this is the right flavor? The wrapper is red. ) Starburst. Dessert: Vanilla Ice Cream from UDF is really good
  19. I've been on both Superman at Six Flags Great America (B&M Flying) and Firehawk (Flying Dutchman) at KI. I don't know that I can accurately compare one to the other (as I rode Superman 5 years ago (can't believe it's been that long!) and I rode Firehawk almost two weeks ago), but I will say they are both unique in their own ways (that being said, I don't know that I have a favorite between the 2). I will say, however, that Superman's pretzel loop reminded me of Firehawk's vertical loop.
  20. I know we have Firehawk, but I think it would be really cool if we got something like this! If so (theoretically speaking), I wonder how a new flying coaster would affect Firehawk's popularity/ridership. 4 more days!
  21. 4 days till the announcement! :)

  22. Hey all, here's my $.02 on the new coaster: What I'd like to see: Floorless, launched or even a Euro-Fighter What the coaster type will probably end up being: Invert or Giga (though I really wouldn't mind an Intamin Giga). ...but I'll be happy with most anything we end up getting. In other news, the announcement is in 7 days!
  23. I do wear a fanny pack to the park and used to wear it with me on rides, but nowadays I keep it in a locker once I get to the park.
  24. If it wasn't for Kings Island, I don't think we'd have Outlaw Run and similar coasters. I say this because maybe Son of Beast's loop influenced Rocky Mountain Coasters to try other inversions on wooden or hybrid wood/steel coasters.
  25. So excited; saw this on the 2014 thread and checked out the tweet to confirm! This is gonna be awesome!
