Drove by KI today on the way to and from family's house for Easter and saw the new entrance (it looks great) and Tropical Plunge's stairway appears to be most of the way complete. I did not see any rides testing, though.

I think I would consider it, depending on the price increase! Although I could/can always get UDF Homemade Brand Ice Cream in my hometown (or even down the street!), and that's one of the things that makes Blue Ash, Ohio special, just as great rides, good shows, and LaRosa's pizza make KI special!

I love Homemade Brand Ice Cream from UDF and Greater's is just ok (imo); why not sell both? That would give me just one more reason (in addition to Starbucks, The Bat, Banshee, etc.) to love the park that much more!

Skull Island: Reign of Kong
MDMC01 replied to MrBestDayEver's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So, they revealed the scary monsters that you'll find on Skull Island... at least one of them has me like "nope"! You can see for yourself below: It's like they're trying to make this as frightening as possible! -
I just saw the video, that thing flies up that airtime hill and through the next curve!

I'm glad that you enjoyed TT. As a former crew member at that ride, I'm kind of partial to it. It was the first Arrow designed using a computer, so that's why its transitions are so much better than most. (As far as I know it's the only "traditional" Arrow looper that was.) As a fan of Arrow coasters, I quite agree about the magical sound of the Arrow lift. I never knew that about Tornado; good to know! Tennessee Tornado is also one of my favorites at the park. IIRC, the first time I rode it, the last time I went to Dollywood, I rode it 5 times!!! EDIT: The 5 times was the last time I went to Dollywood, back in 2012.

Thanks for posting that link, I've poked around there a few times, reading up on Great Adventure's history Also, Jumpin' Jack Flash looks a lot different than Slegehammer (this is expected, considering it was a prototype). I think that a Jump2 in Action Zone would be sick (as in awesome/cool)!

As I've stated before, I don't usually play the games when I'm at the park, however, I may give this system a try just to see what it's like.

Well, La Ronde (a SIX park) does have a year round Haunt, so... Also, it gives Haunt enthusiasts a little bit of Haunt goodness until the appointed time comes around. I know that I most likely plan on being at the park on the night of Friday the 13th to try Blackout (as I have not yet experienced the maze).

As did SFGAM...

I can see how this will be great for making the park money. Those who were at the Great Wolf Lodge meetup 2 years ago saw how crazy I went in the arcade with all those games- and that was just one segment of the resort! Making games more "accessible" is a good idea, and just think, that money can be put towards things like the next coaster or preserving the atmosphere of the park!

I actually like the train colors, they look cool. However, one would think at least one train would be red as Storm Chaser's rails are red.
-
Just saw the webcams... wow, that's a good size clearing in Rivertown! Also, It looks like one Bat train is on and most of Delirium's seats are in place. It's hard to tell because the view is from so high up. Can anyone confirm/am I correct in my thoughts?

When your 2016 ride count Word doc is put together and you start to get super excited for Opening Day! 25 more days!

I went to both KD and Carowinds in 2001 and back to Carowinds in 2003. At KD, I'd recommend Anaconda, Volcano and Avalanche (Berzerker was the only other ride I rode there). At Carowinds, I remember Afterburn being really fun and I also liked Hurler back then. I'm hoping to make a trip back to Carowinds (most likely in late June) to ride Nighthawk, Fury, Drop Tower and more. I'd also like to see Cirque Imagine while I'm there; it opens June 18th. Have fun!

You know it's the offseason when it finally feels like Spring outside (sunny but chilly)... 26 days!

Can riders ride slingshot and skyflyer solo?
MDMC01 replied to Blackhole6670's topic in Kings Island
I do agree that Slingshot is relaxing, but not that relaxing, Terp! Also, @malem, yeah, I was told that when I rode last season, but I forget what the crew stated was the reason for the change. -
Can riders ride slingshot and skyflyer solo?
MDMC01 replied to Blackhole6670's topic in Kings Island
I think Single Riders may have been allowed on Slingshot in the past, but when I rode last season, I was paired with a Slingshot employee as there is a new policy that does not allow single riders. -
Hershey is amazing; if you go, ride Storm Runner, Lightning Racer and Great Bear (those were my favorites at least; ymmv). Ride Skyrush for the credit (but again, ymmv). Dorney is pretty nice; they have a lot of fun coasters like Talon, Thunderhawk, Possessed, Hydra and Steel Force. Meteor is terrifying, but amazing. Hershey's Wild Mouse is better than Dorney's, imo.

I saw that too but via Screamscape... hmmm, I smell an RMC transformation maybe... -
VR coming to 9 Six Flags Coasters
MDMC01 replied to marth555's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
True, I guess I was thinking in the mindset of those who go to park multiple times a season such as myself (or that it's the guests who will automatically understand over time, ultimately, it's up to the ride ops to disseminate and explain the process and make the transition smoother over time). And yes, it will take ride ops some getting used to; hopefully load times will decrease as staff adapts to the new procedures. EDITed for clarity. Another EDIT: I have a solution for the cleaning issue; rotate out pairs of VR goggles. Pair A could be with the riders one cycle while Pair B was being cleaned and vice versa. Or would this slow things down even more? -
VR coming to 9 Six Flags Coasters
MDMC01 replied to marth555's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've been following this thread and it's interesting that VR is making slower load times for triple D. It sorta makes sense though because guests have to get used to it. Have we heard anything about how the other SIX VR experiences are faring?
