  1. Another user posted a similar picture of the available land (I forget who it was) and methinks that'd be a perfect plot of land for a twisty GCI... -MDMC, just thinking out loud
  2. Exactly! I thought the soccer game would be going where World's Greatest Funnel Cakes once stood. Hmmm.... -MDMC, who thinks 2016 will be a season for speculation!
  3. As I posted a few days earlier, excellent article on a very intriguing and innovative Y2K coaster... lately, I've been thinking about any operational wooden coasters that are similar to SOB in some way, which is why I'm looking forward to riding Boss!
  4. Just took a look at the Banshee webcam for the first time in forever and wow! I also see a certain bright orange coaster peaking through... Is it April yet?
  5. This is exactly why I refuse to watch any Fury POV's on Fun TV or Youtube (and also why I won't be riding Firehawk until my Carowinds trip this year for Stealth, er... Nighthawk)...
  6. This seems a bit relevant since this is a Kings Island thread... http://www.themeparktourist.com/features/20160302/31662/son-beast An excellent article on the rise and fall of an innovative Y2K coaster from our own bkroz. -MDMC, who is going from 0-SOB in just 1 post (Also, If this belongs in a different thread, please let me know ) EDIT: Also, 43 days until Opening Day!
  7. Rivers of Light looks really cool; I especially like how their thought process is about a show that makes sense within the context of Animal Kingdom... I'd love to get down there someday!
  8. More thoughts after reading the articles about this... I'm glad you can opt to ride without headsets, but for Fiesta Texas, New England and Magic Mountain, I'm like, why??? for their respective VR coaster choices. Interesting choice choosing Steamin' Demon at Great Escape, though! And this might make Six Flags America a better place (maybe?). The only VR coaster that might be remotely cool would be Dare Devil Dive at Six Flags over Georgia, but I think I want to try without goggles first!
  9. From that picture, Diamondback looks like a red Intamin coaster, a bit like Millennium Force!
  10. If I end up going to SFSTL, I definitely know which coaster I'm skipping on the way to 100!!!
  11. 45 days until Opening Day 2016!

  12. Hey Reptar... er, Flying Ace is still green!
  13. Was it on Cartoon Network and called Brainrush? -MDMC, trying to be helpful
  14. A few thoughts on the prizes. Even if you are a Pokemon fanatic like I am, never get the Pokemon prizes (at least not a Squirtle); they are so stiff! However, I do remember my parents won this huge Taz plush with a UC shirt on at game in Coney Mall back in the day and it was in my mom's classroom (she was a teacher) for many years; good times! Normally, when I go to the park, I'm there for the rides first and then some of the shows; I rarely play the games. Also, if/when I do play games (whether at a carnival or an amusement park), I play something based on the prizes I'd get, not necessarily the game itself. Obviously. the game itself is important, but the prizes are the first thing I look for.
  15. But Nighthawk isn't at any of those parks! As I think he's previously stated, he wants Nighthawk to be his 100th coaster. Thus, I think what he means here is that doing SFGAM, Holiday World, and KK would push his credit count up to 99, so that when he does visit wherever Nighthawk is, it can be the first ride of the day instead of having to postpone it to later in the day while the credit count is built up with other coasters in the park. You are correct Sir Goble! By going to Kentucky Kingdom (and all the other places I mentioned), I will have my coaster count to 99 so that I can make Nighthawk #100. 101 will most likely be either Fury or Vortex... whatever comes first!
  16. Yes, I know, that's a really silly reason, Terpy In all seriousness, I may try to get a trip down there sometime this summer; I thought about my answer a bit after I posted and was like, well, I've ridden Flying Ace (at 2 Cedar Fair parks, no less) and that's same restraints as an regular SLC I suppose, minus the inversions. So, yeah, if it's now or never, I'd love to ride Thunder Run one more time and experience a Breakdance EDIT: Also, did not know that about Chang/Twisted Twins, good to know. Another EDIT: Just thought of another reason to go; if I do SFGAM, Holiday World and Kentucky Kingdom, I can make Nighthawk (#100) my first ride of the day.
  17. Gotta hand it to Kentucky Kingdom, they've always had a diverse collection of coasters, from Chang, Twisted Twins and Greezed Lightning under SIX to The Runs and (soon to be) Storm Chaser now. Although I will likely not venture down there this summer (I'd prefer my first SLC to be a non-modded version, just to see what it's like)), I'd likely to return in 2017 and am interested to see their coaster collection grow once more.
  18. Good stuff; Valravn looks amazing and totally dominates, sort of like how you can see Banshee from pretty much anywhere (like the unique view from Coney Mall). Dragster and Raptor's new paint looks cool too... this makes me really pumped to go to The Point this summer!
  19. @IAmABanshee: Well, Greg did say something about next year for the Tropical Plunge announcement, so.... -MDMC, who knows nothing, but just (possibly) adding fuel to the fire....
  20. Only 53 more days until we can all ride The Bat, Banshee and other favorite rides at KI! :)

  21. They have 1998 KI map on sale on Citigraph's site... really considering buying it as it's only 5 bucks! Also, thanks for posting the info on these types of maps, bkroz!
  22. You know it's the offseason when a ride on Backlot Stunt Coaster sounds tempting due to the nice weather... I say this because I'm not one to frequent that ride often...
  23. I've looked back as well, and let me add Storm Runner's launch (and countdown) to the mix here... also, Great Bear and Skyrush's in-station spiels are amazing (the ride- Skyrush- itself, not so much...)! Oh, also, the ejector air from the first hill after Thunderhawk's first drop was pretty unexpected. And the first launch on any S&S launch tower (Dominator @DP, Power Tower at Cedar Point) is pretty awesome!
  24. When fully puling into someone's driveway reminds you of The Beast's first drop lol (hands up too!) * And also, when it's nice enough to go to the park, but it's not open yet. *Maybe that first one would go in the "You might be a roller coaster enthusiast if..." thread, but it still works here..
