Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
MDMC01 replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I'm not on #teamgiga, but... if those green track pieces end up being a B&M Giga that comes to KI, I will be super pumped for it! EDIT: Even if the green track pieces don't end up going to KI, I'm intrigued to see where they end up as they look really cool. -
The Streak was one of the speed slides that made up the FastTracks speed slide complex that was around in KI's WaterWorks days. Rendevous Run is where The Streak, Thunder Run, The Plunge and White Lightning were from 1989 (?)- 2003. EDIT: But the slide information on which TP slide is fastest/slowest is good to know as well.
-
Thanks for the info, good to know. To add to the current conversation, I did not ride The Plunge. However, I did ride The Streak (far left slide, if you are looking straight at the slide, towards the parking lot) and that was a little frightening as I thought I'd fall off the side onto the pavement below. Also, did not know that The Plunge was once sponsored by Nestea.

Reading these reviews is getting me pretty pumped to ride this Sunday (I was originally on the fence due to the possibly extreme crowds as the complex is so new- I was thinking TP will be packed while the other slides will have little to no lines). I do have one question, mostly for ride tracking purposes: Is each individual slide within the Tropical Plunge complex named (like with Snake Pit at Dorney) or is it just "the green one, the blue one, etc."?

So... did Mr. Trump ever take Kentucky Kingdom up on their offer? In other news, I hope to be travelling down to the Kingdom very, very soon!

Lightning Racer. Hershey Park. You gotta do it! My only other GCI experiences were Thunderhead and Wildcat (Hershey). Thunderhead is weird (my first rides was amazing, my second ride was to side-to side, and my latest Thunderhead ride (2012) was insane in the back!), and Wildcat (Hersheypark) is just good (as in, just ok). However, Lightning Racer is incredible! #teamlightning! -

Someone may have carved that in the eraser dust left over from the previous day, who knows*? -MDMC, who hasn't yet seen the #100reasons board and would love to see it in person *as in, it may not be a clue... -

So, at first I was like "Really"? and then I read the backstory and it sorta makes sense. But hey, new paint! -

When I get up to The Point (hopefully this summer...), Valravn will be my first dive coaster as well. I'm also intrigued to ride Rougarou and Wicked Twister in row 12 (to compare it to Possessed in the same row) and of course, Millennium Force and the best coaster in the wild wild west- Maverick! -
Malem, your comment made me . In all seriousness, I think it was Stashua's classification, I just went along with it lol. And alas, I could not find the Handi-Snacks. I went to 3 stores (the $5 store in Coney Mall, Coaster Connection and Convenience Corner at the front gate) throughout the day to look; they must not have them this year (they had them last year at least in Soak City, a Snoopy cart and Convenience Corner). However, I settled for some Nutter Butters in Action Zone (from Coaster Connection) around mid-day and they were quite good. Also, Invertigo was down earlier that day for some reason (as well as Drop Tower due to wind), but the station valley happened a little later in the day, around 6:00/6:15ish.

On a similar note (and to illustrate how times have definitely changed), I see anti-smoking commercials from truth.org all the time on TV. EDIT: I applaud the relevancy of these commercials (talking about how smoking affects pets, using memes, etc.) as I am a non-smoker.

I could see something like this being a part of a new area, not as the main attraction. However, I still think it'll be a coaster of some sort. -
Last time I was at the park, someone did just that in line for Adventure Express (bold and italics for emphasis).

The POV looked pretty cool... on a sidenote, I've always wondered why there are no Vekoma Motorbike coasters in the US? I mean, I know there are some from Zamperla (Steeplechase- Coney Island, Pony Express- Knott's, Motocoaster- Darian Lake), but I think Vekoma Motorbike coasters have a better design and a more elongated layout. That being said, I haven't been on any type of motorbike coaster, so I don't know how they ride. -

If that picture is foreshadowing the end of #Yoloflume (referencing the ride on RFYLCB in cold weather on Closing Day 2013), I'm really glad I rode it Saturday EDITed for date correction (thanks Malem) -
Hey all, I went to the park yesterday for quite a bit of time and had a blast; here is some highlights/impressions from the day: -On the average, lines were not that terrible for a Saturday -Invertigo valleyed in the station while I was in line... I got out quick! -Diamondback was... fun! (and I got a good view of the Banshee Brew festivities!) -I did ride RFYLCB and it was enjoyable, so I'll miss it a bit if the rumors of its demise are true -I rode Shake, Rattle and Roll for the first time since the re-paint and it was fun -Delirium may be my new favorite flat... Drop Tower is awesome, but Delirium just feels great, especially on a hot summer day -WindSeeker is magical at night, and Adventure Express is crazy awesome at night as well -I rode the train and saw some branches near the fort; I also saw wood near the train's first bend out of the station. -Rode Beast with a first timer who loved it! -Met up with some KICers briefly at the end of the day, which was fun. All in all, it was a good day!

Dang, KIC, back at it again with the Decoding speculation! Seriously, I come back after a day or so of not keeping up with this thread and 5+ pages have sprang up in my absence. On a related note, I feel like the (imo, well-deserved!) Banshee hype was almost like a PR/social media test (or, at least KI's first major go at a social media word-of-mouth campaign) and things are going to get even more awesome for Project 2017. -
I'd like to chime in and say that when I rode AE on Sunday, I noticed that the snake hissing sound was on (I'd never heard it before, so it was nice) and the first lift did have its sound effects. I was also able to hear the full "Now you will pay" speech in the final lift, which was nice as I don't think I've ever heard it in full on the ride (However, I did notice the "jungle" sounds on the first turn after the station drop did not play for some reason). Also, I will say I heard some strange humming/voice noises in Flight of Fear's saucer which I can only assume are alien sounds, plus there were some really cool lights in there as well. In fact, a letter on the guy's shirt I queued behind kept turning red and then disappearing into the rest of the young man's blue/black shirt due to the changing lights- it was really cool! Other than that, I noticed Beast's containment area signs in line on Opening Day, which provided a nice touch.

Adding to the Snoopy/Diamondback ERT discussion, my first ride of the season was also in Planet Snoopy during ERT (specifically Woodstock's Gliders), thanks to some peer pressure at breakfast

So, before I left today, I went up to the Tower to see what I could see (per the Twitter teasing) and it looks like the site was extended from the last time I saw saw it (granted, I was on ground level on Opening Day and I hadn't seen an aerial view yet- only from the train and the teaser signs. Also, thanks for posting those pics Magenta Lizard (the ones showing work going on by the Fort), I didn't realize the work went back that far; this just shows how big this project is. On a side note, the rest of my trip was fine, Delirium was a nice, relaxing, ferocious breeze of a break from the hot sun. -

Maybe this #10thwonderoftheworld thing could be referring to the 10th US installation of a coaster type, like 10th US installation of an RMC, or maybe even a coaster that will have 10 inversions (though maybe not by Intamin). Also, if we are teasing the #10thwonderoftheworld, maybe there is a reason Cedar Fair kept the Centurion trademark around... -MDMC, just speculatin' -
Hollywood Nights was pretty good, with one unexpected song that blew me away! And like others, I am anticipating Origins. When walking around the park for Opening Day, I noticed the shows seem to be starting earlier this year, especially with Origins starting in mid-May; If I recall correctly, Cirque Imagine didn't start each run until June- Am I correct on this? Also, I'm pretty excited for the "return" of Off the Charts.

Interesting thoughts, however, I thought of something else I would love to see at the park and could be a possibility... a Mack Splash Battle! The one at Dollywood is so amazing! I don't think the stakes match up, but that would be cool to see sometime in the future. I also thought of another possibility a few days ago; what if we get the first RMC T-Rex coaster? -MDMC, who is not on Team Giga PS: Sky Roller is/was an interesting idea and could be a possibility, but how do you theme that to lumberjacks?
