  1. Honestly, I don't think they'd been building a giga so close to Diamondback; but maybe I'm wrong. I'm also sort-of crushed that WWC's queue will be different but the new Tombstone entrance did pique my interest (I told myself I'd go through it next Haunt... looks like I won't have to wait as long to explore the new path! )
  2. Again, I say... nope. I will gladly skip CCMR and ride Iron Dragon VR-Goggle-less, thank you very much!
  3. Good stuff; I went to IOA in the early/mid 2000's and had a good time. Since I being a hardcore coaster/theme park junkie would be a few years away for me (I liked rides/coasters, but was still a little hesitant), I only rode 3 rides: Hulk (which I was a bit nervous about, but I loved!), Spiderman (which terrified me then because of the unexpectedness of it, but I feel like I would love it now) and Bluto's Bilge-Rats Barges (which I loved!). I've heard good things about the two Harry Potter areas, and from what I've heard/seen about the Forbidden Journey ride looks disorienting and terrifying (I mean, the first major element whisks you away on your back, c'mon!). And Butterbeer sounds like it would taste good. Might have to go back there sometime! Back to the trip report- did you get to try Forbidden Journey, and if so, how was it? And as for Posidian, I didn't do that either because I was too scared, but I think it's like a walk-through attraction thing with special effects.
  4. ^You got me! I thought D-Back's Opening Year and Fast Lane were a year apart, but it's all good; time flies sometimes!
  5. Agreed. SRL was sadly abused, which is why we can't have nice things! Anyone on here know of any other KI rides that had Single Rider Lines?
  6. In a perfect world, I'd like to have KI have Wendy's (honestly, the only large outdoor attraction that has a Wendy's was a zoo I went to one time (either Louisville or Columbus?)). But honestly, Food does need to step their game up in some ways. I was on I-Street Skyline one day at open (Noon) and there was already a line forming soon after I'd gotten in because there was only one person making food and one person taking orders. Also, even though Dollar Days is a huge hit, there's got to be a way to streamline people a bit faster. Even though I worked in Food for 5 years, I don't really have any suggestions to make the processes any better (more people out on Front Line, I suppose?). The food itself is pretty good, though, from Auntie Anne's to Starbucks, to Skyline's hotdogs (with no poppysead buns like in the water park!), Subway and LaRosas's pizza.
  7. Diamondback used to, but then Fast Lane happened the very next year. SRL was the reason why I only waited 10 minutes for D-Back on Opening Day 2009.
  8. I do appreciate the rotating list of rides of ERT (which I'll be able to partake in this year! ); but why not The Bat? I'd love to start my visit with that!
  9. As for Chick-Fil-A being crowded, I got my mom a salad on the way home from work the other night and the drive-thru line had a line of a few cars and the inside was pretty full as well (then again, it was around 6 o'clock- dinner time for most, but still). And I was impressed by the "how may I serve you?" greeting. -MDMC, not a huge Chick-Fil A fan (I'm a picky eater ), but glad to see it doing great business!
  10. Just wondering, what maze(s?) are/were you in?
  11. I worked at the park in Food for 5 seasons and Park Services for 3... I highly recommend a job at the park if you are on the fence about it. Park Services was my favorite as you got to walk around the park and it felt like our department was really a big team! I mean, yes it's cool you get to go to the park for free when you are off, but just walking around the park assisting guests was really cool for me. To quote Shia LaBeouf "Just do it!" lol
  12. KI having an RMC would be pretty cool; again, I wouldn't have to drive far to ride one (I've actually never ridden one, I'm thinking Goliath @ SFGAM will be my first) ! Also, it would be really cool if the RMC "gate coaster" on my RCT2 KD scenario became a reality.
  13. And I saw how that turned out this summer... In all seriousness, I know CF and Intamin's relationship has been strained over the past couple years, but those things (Impulse Coasters) are a blast (pun-semi intended... haven't been on Volcano in a while)!
  14. They may be a bit dated, but I would love KI to have an Intamin Impulse... this way, I don't have to drive 5-8 hours to ride one!
  15. A soccer game, really? They take all this out for... a soccer game? There's gotta more to this. One guess I just thought of is shuffling around Tombstone Territory's entrance/exit as the soccer game will now be taking up what used to be the queue. This may open up the area by Madame Fatale's (where the start of the line was this year); hmmm... Also, another question is how big is the soccer game and how much room will it take up? So many questions.... And also, I don't think another Haunt could fit in this space, unless they do away with Tombstone or rework/revamp it somehow... this next Haunt season should be very interesting... -MDMC, rambling with speculation
  16. Wha...? No, but seriously, It would make sense to relocate a Coke Freestyle marketplace there as the train station depot is frequently closed. But if they are demo'ing that because it's sometimes closed, I wonder if/why they wouldn't demo Paradise Island, which is almost never open? Hmmm... the plot thickens...

    Funpix

Well, I watched the video and I'm not as apprehensive about this as I thought (I originally thought the random security camera taking your picture and buying them idea was Big Brother-ish (especially if you didn't know where the cameras were); but if they are only having select FunPix locations, that makes me feel a lot better). In addition to the issue previously mentioned, the video cleared up a lot of other issues/questions I'd have with the system. I won't buy one, but seems like a good idea for those who want them.
  18. Ok, so right after they said Will called The Legend the Y2K Coaster, I was like "I have to ride this!" (and it looks pretty darn cool too) And apparently, It's going to be better than ever! Only 5 more months... EDIT: Also, I got excited when I heard GCI is doing the trackwork!
  19. As did I Malem, I actually started to wear my coat to work this week because it was so cold. You know it's the Off-Season when you want to go to Kings Island, but you realize it's January.
  20. So, my thoughts are these. Do I want them to get rid of Action Theater? Maybe, if they are not using it for much else than Urgent Scare (then again, I've never done Urgent Scare, so I don't know...). Realistically, Will they get rid of it? Probably not, because Urgent Scare. I would really like it if they had a really high gate sealing up the entrance to the theater sort of like the new Slaughterhouse has near Beast (yes, I know Sam's place was a custom-built structure and US made use of an existing one, but still...) And yes, I did like this poll As for AT memories, I remember 7th Portal and Spongebob. I know I mentioned this on here recently before, but Stunfisk (a newer Pokemon) reminds me of that fish that interrupts and goes "Hey, is that my patty!".
  21. Sweet... also, didn't see the links to the answers to the other questions... good to know that AT is taking the time to field so many questions about the experience. Because even if those people wary of the experience still don't ride Galactica, or choose to participate in that new(millennium) old-fashioned way of riding without goggles, that fact that AT responded to their questions will make them feel better about the park
  22. That would be awesome... but, I see no tweet... I'll take your word for it though! EDIT: I couldn't find the original Tweet, but they did answer it as an answer to the following Tweet:
  23. Man, I was really looking forward to riding Air (normally) in like 5-10 years... seems like most of the first time/unique coasters I've wanted to ride have been altered in some way (Air is the first B&M Flyer IIRC), Medusa/Bizarro (first floorless), Son of Beast, Stealth (first flying- I'm really pumped to ride it, but still, it does fit the criteria), Big Bad Wolf (first successful suspended coaster), King Cobra(first stand up)- the list could go on and on... But at least Superman (SFNE) is coming back from the dead. And we still have Millennium Force as well, but still... EDIT: Also, there is no point in cosmetic upkeep if it's just a coaster with VR goggles, might as well put it in a parking lot- smh... Also, not saying I want BBW back or SOB necessarily, it's just that the interesting ones go under the knife eventually...
  24. Here are my Top 5 memorable experiences I've had on rides at KI. In order, they are: 5. My first ride on Son of Beast -It was the year 2000 and I was making my way to Top Gun, like I normally do. My step-dad really wanted me to ride the big, looping wooden coaster next door as I had never ridden a looping coaster. I' was scared, but I obliged. I thought the first drop out of the station was cool and the rest was history (the loop wasn't even that bad!). 4. My first (and only) night ride on WindSeeker -I don't remember the day, but I got a night ride on WindSeeker and it was downright magical with the lights and music playing. During the day, the ride is "meh", but at night, it's pretty spectacular. 3. The mini-Helicopters with my cousin -Long before my cousin Ryan and I embarked on The Edge of the Milleinium Tour this past summer, we went to KI on a rainy Mother's Day one year and rode the mini-helicopters (Now known as Woodstock's Whirlybirds; don't remember what they were called then). For some reason, we couldn't stop laughing for most of the ride and had a blast, even though my phone took a beating from the rain shortly afterwards (the rain seeped into my fanny pack!). 2. That crazy Bat (1993) ride on Closing Day -It was Closing Day of this year and I was exiting The Bat when I thought I saw Gator. One of his friends yelled down to him and I found out it was him. I then raced (I was walking fast, guys!) to catch up with him and ended up riding with him. We rode in the back and I usually ride on the inside (closest to the exit), but on that day I rode on the outside (closest to the entrance). I got probably one of the most insane Bat rides ever that day! 1. That foggy midnight close- Vortex/Beast -It was the last midnight close of the season of 2014 (I think?) and I got off work @ 10 PM. I went back into the park and met up with the group. That night, we rode Vortex and Beast in some pretty deep fog. It was pretty cool racing around in the fog on Vortex and The Beast was downright surreal. I remember climbing The Beast's second lift and seeing 2 bright lights at the top. I then asked "Are we on Planet Earth anymore?" Again, it was pretty surreal. Honorable mentions include the following: The Coaster for Kids night ride on Racer (I rode Red, C4K peeps rode Blue), smooth rides of Flight of Fear, and some fun Dodgems rides this year. EDIT b/c I accidentally put that Son of Beast was my first wooden coaster... yeah, no. My first wooden coaster was my first coaster ever, The Beastie.
  25. This. Thank you for saying this wonderful statement about not following cultural expectations as they can leave you broke and unsatisfied. More on topic, though I've never been to Disney (when given the chance, I chose to go an Island of Adventure) but I'd love to go to Animal Kingdom/Magic Kingdom someday.
