When do you think Kings Island will receive a Giga?
SonofBaconator replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in KI Polls
I think there's a duration of time after a new ride debuts where people want something new. I'd say with a park like KI, that duration is 3 years. In my opinion, the 3 year formula works perfectly, take the gap between Banshee and Mystic Timbers. 2014- Banshee's inaugural season 2015- Banshee's second season 2016- Prep for new attraction 2017- Mystic Timbers inagural season If you apply that to 2020 you get this 2017- Mystic Timbers inaugural season 2018- Mystic Timbers second season 2019- Prep for new attraction 2020- Giga It takes about 3 years to plan a coaster according to Greg Scheid and I think we'll continue to see this formula. -

I still wonder if they'll RMC Hurler in the coming years or just leave it. -
Future Cedar Fair Coaster Removals?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think he's referring to the CGA poster, which isn't exactly a source but is a solid base for speculation http://coasterhub.com/archives/19188 -
We've seen some significant coaster removals in the Cedar Fair including Stinger at Dorney Park, Firehawk at KI and Volcano at KD to name a few. With this knowledge one can only speculate that more coasters will be removed in the future. What do you guys think are the next coasters to be removed? Personally I think Vekoma is going to be purged from the chain with exceptions to smaller rides like Flying Ace Ariel Chase and others. I don't think Arrow coasters will be in Jeopardy unless RMC's T-Rex proves to be a superior track style. *I have no information on which Cedar Fair coasters will be removed or when, pure speculation*

Agreed, I think every B&M added to the chain have been a solid investment.

With regards to the former lake, this is what Shaggy has to say back in 2010 @Shaggy -

Besides being the longest wooden coaster in the world, I think a lot of people forget that The Beast is currently the longest coaster in North America. -
I think B&M's new technique is filling the tubes/ rails with sand as opposed to the spine which is more cost effective and is accomplishes the same thing.

Dorney Park?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Philadelphians can get to Six Flags Great Adventure in about an hour which is around the same time they can get to Dorney Park. It makes me wonder if Cedar Fair is wondering what to do with this park in terms of investments. They're competing with Hershey Park and Great Adventure which I'm sure is hurting their attendance. With Kings Dominion competing with BGW, it makes me wonder if Cedar Fair has a good market in the eastern US. The company's main dominance lies in the Midwest, Canada, the Southeast, with the West Coast showing promise. I wonder if Cedar Fair will try to compete in the eastern market in the future or cut their losses and continue to focus more on their other markets. -
I might be the minority but I would like to see something added to Coney Mall in some form or another. Whether it be a little stage in the Skyline pavilion, a traveling band or Peanuts appearances down the midway, or something of a similar caliber would be a cool addition to the area- especially since that section is going to have a lot of traffic these next few years.

So far for 2019 Antique Cars Return International Street Makeover X-Base Construction Beast Car Repaint Racer Track work I think this is the most exciting off season we've had to date. It makes me happy to be a KI fan because I feel like they listen to what the people want more than any other park. The park does a great job appealing to nostalgia and what works for the park.

I'm a future teller *I assume that each set of two will be painted a different color on each train- front two cars will be red, middle two cars will be orange, and back two cars will be yellow* https://www.pinterest.com/pin/322007442077594651/?lp=true -
I actually like the throwback colors, it's something I've wanted them to bring back for years. I kind of hope this color change is permanent!

With the speculation of a giga going to the north side of the park, I wonder if adding sand is something the park would consider doing. Sand was added to Leviathan to reduce the noise during the first drop.

I miss the cinematic feel that Paramount had in their advertisements as well as in different parts of the park. As someone who grew up im the Paramount era, commercials like these were nostalgic to me

You might not be too far off there... It's highly rumored that Busch Gardens is getting a HUGE intamin which would certainly be favored over a 20 year old coaster. Kings Dominion might want to pump something out in the next couple of years to compete but only time will tell. This park has been losing coasters left and right so it would have to be something that would redeem these losses.

What's up with Kings Dominion?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I know some people will disagree with me but I'm actually kind if grateful we never got an Intamin coaster at KI. I feel bad for KD because Volcano was down for most of the 2018 season and it had a lot of maintenance woes in seasons prior. I think Cedar Fair is trying to push reliability and certain coasters, like Volcano and Firehawk, don't fit that bill anymore. It makes me curious if Cedar Fair will continue to invest in KD as much or if competition with BGW will continue to be a plague for the park. Their focus on Carowinds, Canada's Wonderland, Kings Island, and Cedar Point suggests that KD doesn't have the opportunity for growth that the chain is looking for. -

Is there currently any track still residing in the Son of Beast station? -
I think the one element Cedar Fair is missing, with exception to Knott's, is quality dark rides. Previous CEO Matt Ouimet tried to push dark rides at every CF park when he was in charge. I think its definitely something the chain should still consider for its future.
