  1. Loch Ness Monster is getting some major attention with BGW choosing to preserve the ride by retracking it. That being said, could this be a sign of hope for all existing Arrows across the globe? Let me be clear, parks are going to make decisions based off of a number of factors such as ride popularity, maintenance, etc, so of course it’s not likely that every current Arrow is going to last for decades to come….but still, it does make you think.
  2. Ironic choice of words since they were manufactured my Crown Metal Products
  3. https://cpfoodblog.com/good-any-day-fast-lane/ CP Foodblog is the only park page I pay attention to anymore so I’m sure there are more links out there.
  4. Q4 for amusement parks can be a hit or miss in my opinion depending on the region they’re in. For example, you can’t keep CP or MA open in November/December.

  6. I read somewhere that when the original raptors were $2-$3 mil so I’m honestly sure any big chain would rather just build a new one as opposed to cutting up and relocating one while risking further maintenance costs.
  7. In all honesty, RMC is a good talking point. Since 2018, CF has not worked with RMC and with the chains combining you now have almost 15 of them. I wonder how Cedar Fair’s safety standards will affect the current Six Flags RMCs. I also wonder if the difference in trains will play a factor since all but two of the Six Flags parks that have hybrids utilize 1st gen RMC trains (both Texas parks have Gerstlauer) while the CF hybrids feature 2nd gen swing axel trains.
  8. Here’s my thought process. CF and SEAS adding a small amount of RMCs was a testing ground for their other parks. CF took it a step further by adding 3 different types of RMCs in the same year: a hybrid hyper, a traditional hybrid, and a single rail. Had RMC been able to deliver reliable attractions, I’d have no doubt you’d see more of them across both chains. It doesn’t surprise me that SEAS is going with B&M and I’ll be interested to see what Cedar Flags will do considering the merger resulted in the addition of more RMCs that the whole chain is going to have to do maintenance on over the years.
  9. I think Soak City getting a facelift could certainly entice more Coney Island goers. They need more slash structures and another river that’s actually lazy
  10. Bumping this. Whatever we get next, it should be able to operate during Winferfest. Will the Snoopy coaster be able to?
  11. So can KI rename Coney Mall Coney Island?
  12. Let me ask a follow up question- what about a ride that operates at double capacity like Racer? They already go to one side ops during the summer season at times, would there be harm in putting it to work during Winterfest?
  13. @disco2000 @beastfan11 @CoastersRZ @Tr0y I want to retract what I stated earlier, Knott’s narrow gauge locomotives were coal burners back in the day but were converted to burn oil -which is a lot cleaner than coal or wood. https://www.ocregister.com/2016/08/17/a-knotts-berry-farm-steam-locomotive-is-reborn/amp/
  14. All I’m saying is that they wouldn’t spend the money to have a coal burner overhauled if emissions were an issue. Actually burned oil
  15. That’s not the case. The engine they’re retiring is a crown that runs on propane the same as KI’s engines do- propane burns a lot cleaner. It should also be noted that Knott’s just got number 41 back from having some work done on the Durango and Silverton Railroad. @beastfan11 to answer your question, probably a maintenance and staffing fix. The engine they are retiring is small but still requires steam locomotive maintenance and needs to be run by an engineer who knows steam. By switching to an electric locomotive, the maintenance is probably a lot easier and they can just staff it with a ride operator and call it a day.
  16. That it will. Hopefully a park that runs 24” track, like Hershey or Lagoon, will buy it.
  17. I thought someone said it was 30ft deep relative to the midway between Rivertown and Coney Mall but I’m not entirely sure
  18. Well this aged well
  19. How are parks going to be prioritized. A lot of Cedar Fair fans, and YouTubers like to use the three tier system to categorize how Cedar Fair prioritizes their properties: Kings Island is always in the top tier. With that being said, how do you think this merger well recategorize prioritization? Is there going to be a top eight instead of a top four? Or something else?
  20. I still don’t understand the argument that Orion isn’t a giga, if you’re standing at the base of drop, its 300ft tall..
  21. I wonder what Koontz thinks of all of this.
  22. To shift discussion a bit: Which current Six Flags park is the most like Cedar Fair? Which current Cedar Fair park is the most like Six Flags?
  23. I-305 could be rebranded to DC, same with FoF and BLSC
