Disney does a really cool thing with holiday overlays for some of their attractions. Could our park benefit from this practice? I’m looking at coasters that already feature heavy theming like Adventure Express, Backlot Stunt Coaster, and Mystic Timbers for the fall time.

Right around when the 2023 regular season is about to come to a close? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to share this at the beginning of the season to hype people up?

Weird that they’re posting something about that now. It’s a shame because it looks great and would’ve been an awesome teaser for Adventure Express’ updated theming. It seems like a missed opportunity. Now everyone’s on Instagram saying sOb 2.0 Is CoMiNg.

I’m no expert but if KI wanted any shot at retaking the World’s Best Kid’s Area from Dollywood, they’d need to overhaul the entire section- not just the back corner of it.

Here’s my take on Camp Snoopy’s 24 hour notice. How much money is spent on the concept rendering that is shown via social media posts? The reason I ask is because stuff like that takes time, resources, and effort. If I was working on a project like that, I’d at least want the park to hype it up a little bit more.

I thought the exact same thing when rewatching this video. I think other parks did them with teddy bears but those were closer to 5ft in height. I would’ve liked to have seen a disclaimer at the bottom of the video. With all that said however, if a parent tries to put their child in danger by trying to convince a ride attendant that a plush, 1lb, 2ft tall doll is proof that their child can ride, then they deserve to be turned away.

I think Flying Ace might get new trains, considering it’s the same manufacturer that’s giving us our new coaster. I could be wrong but it would make sense

Regarding the lack of an in person announcement with Camp Snoopy, I’m actually happy they went with on online announcement. Too many “thoosies” would’ve killed the vibe with over speculations and SOB signs

I know there’s already a thread on Camp Snoopy but I wanted to focus solely on the choice of manufacturer for our new coaster: Vekoma. With one of our Vekoma’s being demolished, another one living on borrowed time, and another one being labeled a “hang and bang” it comes as somewhat of a surprise to me that Cedar Fair decided to work with them again. Granted this is a relatively smaller addition, I think this could be the benchmark for future business with the company. Could this be what CP did with Zamperla and Wild Mouse/Top Thrill 2? Could this just be a one off with this park? Could we see more Vekomas in other CF properties?

With the pandemic affecting everything it’s certainly possible, but I think this was always the plan for Dorney. I remember reading somewhere that CF wanted to invest more into their pre-Paramount parks and considering that they just gave something new to Worlds of Fun, I’d believe that to be accurate.

Part of me thinks their choice in manufacturer was somewhat intentional; granted what choice isn’t intentional? There’s no way Dorney could compete with the likes of Great Adventure or Hershey, but adding a dive is something that gives them a diverse lineup that keeps their competitors from adding something similar. That’s not to say that they won’t someday, heck all three of these parks have inverts from the same manufacturer. “But what’s the point if your competitors are going to eventually get what you got; maybe better?” I argue it’s all about who did it first. If you’re the underdog park that adds something new, you have somewhat of a competitive advantage. Imagine if Great Adventure or Hershey decided they wanted to add a dive a couple of years ago- Dorney probably wouldn’t be able to follow suit because they’re the smaller park. Maybe I’m over explaining it, but I think they made the right choice.

Looks like we can add Vekoma to the “List of potential manufacturers” considering they’re coming back to give us the new Camp Snoopy coaster.

Analysis: Micro section- I’ve said it before that I think the chain is going to push more micro sections with KI and this further proves my point. Instead of overhauling an entire area, they’re choosing to create something new as an add on; we saw this just this year with Adventure Port and Oktoberfest and we might see more of it in the future elsewhere. Vekoma- I’m impressed that we’re going back to Vekoma. Many enthusiasts have wanted to see more of this manufacturer in the states and now that Cedar Fair has a new styled Vekoma it could be a sign of more things to come. The coaster itself- 75ft high! Wow! I know that most of the riders won’t reach that height with it being a shuttle coaster but visually it’s going to be an eye catcher. For a visual scale comparison, 75ft is taller that Backlot Stunt Coaster and Adventure Express. I know with it being a shuttle coaster that capacity will be on the lower side but for being in the kids area, I don’t think it’ll be a big issue. The playground- I think it’s cool to give kids something to do that doesn’t require them to wait in line. This will be a good way for the parents to sit down and relax for a second while the little ones burn off some energy. Overall thoughts- this is what the park needs in my opinion. Cedar Fair had yet to contribute a coaster of their own to the kids area and now they have! I don’t know if this will win us back the “World’s Best Kids Area” because I’m not sure if the Golden Ticket Awards would combine both sections or not; frankly it doesn’t matter if we don’t win it back, this area is a breath of fresh air regardless. Also, I think it’s cool that Flying Ace will get a repaint to match the area.

“Iron Menace” Full web page This looks to be Cliffhanger 2.0! Now Dorney has 3 unique B&Ms to call their own. I know dives can be seen as repetitive but part of me is a little jealous of Dorney; we don’t even have a vertical drop, let alone anything beyond vertical! I’m impressed that they went with the 7 row design. I’ve never been to this park but I’m just happy that they got some love considering they haven’t gotten anything custom in some time!

I’d say maybe 5pm-10pm would be ideal. The biggest obstacle would be staffing. I don’t think they could have the same amount of rides open that they do during the weekend Haunt schedule. Maybe harken back to the old Fearfest days when only select rides were open and focus more on the haunted houses and mazes.

Do you all think a theoretical Thursday Haunt would work if it was modified to operate on a weeknight?

For those who are complaining about a 24 hour notice….I believe Woodstock Gliders/Snoopy’s Space Buggies got similar treatment before they were announced, the same can be said for Tropical Plunge. I believe Antique Autos was an in-person announcement because the park was bringing back a defunct KI attraction that many people had missed- the same could be said for when they announced Winterfest two years prior.
