I still think they should rip out the Crypt building and build a new boat ride along the tree line next to Diamondback’s second hill:

A have a Haunt question- why did we never get a Phantom Theater Haunt? I’m not talking about recycling the props and figures for existing mazes that’s been going on for years, I’m talking about a concept that focuses on the original Phantom Theater IP.

That’s my view- like what you said, The Vortex plot has been vacant for a while so people are used to it. If they remove Invertigo and Congo Falls and replace Vortex, the front will look bare and uninviting. I think they should have something in the works for when Invertigo and Congo eventually leave. If those two get replaced in 2026 and Vortex gets replaced in 2030, I wouldn’t be upset.

Double post: Even though it has no trouble drawing crowds, I think the park could take it a step further with a Haunt overlay of some sort. Incorporating Halloween props and added audio along the ride’s route would bridge the gap between rides and Haunt. Put green, orange, or purple lights in the final tunnel to add to the Halloween affect. Put fun Halloween posters up on the billboards. I don’t think what I’m suggesting would cost a lot of money, just would take time setting it up. It would certainly make Haunt more of a Halloween event. If I ever have the time I’ll come up with a rendering.

Something Comm related… What was everyone’s opinion on how “The Shed” was marketed during Mystic Timber’s construction? I certainly think the park achieved its goal of creating a buzz for the new attraction by utilizing the hashtag #whatsintheshed, however I feel like the ride itself wasn’t marketed enough.

Camp Snoopy Arrives in 2024 at Kings Island

I mentioned this on another thread… I heard somewhere that Pipe Scream doesn’t get affected by water like Surf Dog does. If this is true, would it be a wise investment to get an updated Surf Dog to combat its downtime? -
What would be one thing you’d change operations wise?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in KI Polls
This might be controversial but I’m not a fan of Monster’s ops. Loading and unloading seems like a nightmare… I wish there was a way where all arms could raise and lower at once but I understand that’s not how it was designed. Speaking of awkward ops, I’ve heard that Pipe Scream can operate during and after rain whereas Surf Dog cannot. I’m not sure how true this is because I don’t really pay attention to Pipe Scream’s ops, but if that’s the case would it be a wise investment to get the updated version for our park just so we don’t have a ride down for weather? -

It’s 10:54pm What if we got Dominator and Kings Dominion got X-Flight? -
So I don’t think Congo Falls has operated the full 2023 season- I think its years are numbered and I’m sure Invertigo will go with it. When these rides do go, I want the park to have something ready to replace them. I know the pandemic threw things for a loop, (PUN), but I think that guests have started to expect that when something big like a coaster gets the axe, it should be replaced relatively soon.

What’s one practical attraction you wouldn’t mind having two of?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in KI Polls
I wouldn’t hate the idea of a second antique cars. I’m not sure that it would be a good ROI unless they changed the scenery to differentiate the experience between the two rides. I personally don’t think it would work out well since I believe even CP is down to one antique car ride. I just wish there were more family rides at the park. -
The History of Kings Island

Would a variable speed lift hill amend the ride’s stacking? I’d personally rather ascend a slower lift hill vs having to wait on stacked trains. -
Cedar Fair in the 2030s?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I personally think Carowinds would see Vortex (along with Nighthawk) scrapped in favor of a new ride. I think if they wanted to keep Vortex going, they would’ve given it floorless trains years ago. Patriot’s trains might go to Cedar Point, Dorney, or Kings Dominion when the time comes (the same can be said for Flight Deck being recycled for Raptor, Talon, or Afterburn.) On the subject of California’s Great America, barring any unforeseen circumstances, I wonder if there are parks in the chain that have already called dibs on the CGA’s flat rides. -
I know we’re in the early 2020s but I’m always looking into the future based off of what’s happening now in the chain and the industry. Will parks be acquired or sold? Will parks like Valleyfair and Michigan’s Adventure get new coasters to call their own? Will we see a return of Intamin and RMC? Will more parks be open on weekends or potentially year round? Etc

Right? I was hoping for a little bit more info.

Cedar Fair and Vekoma
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
WindSeeker already fits. You could retheme BLSC to storm chasers but I don’t think that would to over well considering a tornado hit Goshen not too far away. -
Forums are mostly debates anyway but would a debate section be welcomed here? Debates would focus on one topic- For example: Kings Island needs a Surf Coaster… The thread would then be filled with responses for or against the topic presented. Would something like this be beneficial or redundant?

Cedar Fair and Vekoma
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I keep wondering if Vortex’s replacement should embrace new IP or pay homage to its predecessor and I always go with the latter. Top Thrill Dragster/Top Thrill 2 up to the north utilized an IP that has become synonymous to guests of Cedar Point; I argue Vortex is the same for KI. Vortex was the tallest coaster in the park for 13 years and it was impossible to miss on the skyline. It was the first big looping coaster for a lot of guests. Despite its roughness as it aged and a lot of smoother coasters to come after it, I think people miss the IP. If it could be resurrected, a lot of people would be happy.
