  1. @IBEW_Sparky, I’ve never been to WoF and would definitely go if I was in the KC area…that being said it doesn’t seem like a “must visit” park. I appreciate their want to preserve their history and keep their steam engine going but from an amusement park standpoint it doesn’t seem to have the same affect as other parks in the Midwest. Then I see stuff like this be fans and it confuses me:
  2. I said this a while ago but it was a missed opportunity IMO not to rebrand Invertigo to Screamin Demon when they rebranded Flight Deck to The Bat and debuted Banshee in 2014. A repaint wouldn’t have been necessary considering some of the old Demon logo was blue-ish:
  3. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it’s just trolling at this point. Several threads have been derailed preaching of a CP over KI supremacy. Instead of contributing and having meaningful conversations, it’s just a rehash of the same rant that’s been going on for years. Some people just can’t help themselves and want all the attention, which is unfortunately what we’re giving into as we speak.
  4. This statement aged like fine wine
  5. What does any of this have to do with Adventure Port?
  6. Not trying to be “that person” but it’s been three years since Orion came out and eight years since Fury 325 came out. The constant complaints about how much money is spent on what attractions are getting old.
  7. Could they possibly get the Skyrocket II Zombie ride from Mexico that closed not too long ago?
  8. It’s not something that’ll get fixed overnight, that’s for sure. You also have to look at how much attention is on the park when it comes to this type of behavior. You might have a few weeks of calmness, then groups of individuals get into an altercation which gets the attention of local news agencies and paints the park in a negative light. Also with social media influencing these meetups and people being able to livestream these incidents, there’s not a whole lot that can be done ahead of time. I often wonder if it’s incidents like these that will influence what type of attractions we get in the future. Will the park decide to opt for more family friendly attractions in attempt to keep families in as opposed to larger, more intense attractions geared towards teenagers?
  9. It’s not a far fetched assumption though: https://www.incrediblecoasters.com/SteelVengeancePhotos.html https://coasterforce.com/iron-gwazi-opens-at-busch-gardens-tampa/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zadra_(roller_coaster) Upon my internship I saw a piece of wood dangling from SV and reported it. Carpentry came out and stated that was not integral to the ride’s structure and was just left over wood that was kept on from MS. They still shut the ride down and drilled the wood back in place but it didn’t seem like an urgent issue but likely would’ve looked odd to anyone who saw a piece of wood dangling. Again this was just a conversation I had so take it how you will.
  10. I’m not discounting the potential maintenance issues but you also have to look at 2018. Cedar Point ordered a hybrid with new trains, a first of its kind hybrid hyper with new trains and a first of its kind single rail. Not only that, but having interned there myself, I talked to carpentry and they said that a lot of the original Mean Streak structure was not removed when they converted the ride to Steve Vengeance. Of course I don’t have any source to back up my claim but if you want evidence that it’s accurate, compare Steel Vengeance to Iron Gwazi or Zadra where they are all about the same in height but have significantly different support styles. I’m not discounting the issues that the chain encountered with RMC, but I often remind myself what they asked RMC to do in one season; new technology across three of their parks is a pretty tall order.
  11. After reviewing how much RMC charges for their coasters, it does somewhat shock me that we don’t see more of them in the Cedar Fair chain. They don’t all have to be on par with Steel Vengance but the one at Funspot in GA cost $13,000,000 and it’s 3,400ft of track. Heck Zara cost $2,000,000 more than that and it tops 200ft in height and is only about 1,000ft longer.
  12. I’ve thought of that as well. If the pandemic didn’t hit, I’m sure the timeline would’ve been 2024 considering that we lost two coasters and gained one from 2018-2020. On top of the pandemic, I’m sure the Dragster incident changed a lot of things up. Cedar Point can’t really afford to have a ride that size SBNO for multiple seasons with how heavily they rely on destination travelers. We can afford to have a 5 year gap in our coaster lineup- we did it before from 2009-2014. In theory having two Ohio coasters installed in back to back seasons could prove beneficial. The rebranded TTD is going to be a massive project so what we get won’t be anything of that magnitude, however, having two new additions within a year a part of one another on opposite sides of the state might encourage more travel from people in neutral areas.
  13. I think a daytime parade similar to HalloWeekends would be cool. I also thought using the waterpark was a good way to spread guests out but I understand why it was short lived.
  14. You’re right, I mixed up the years.
  15. My favorite timeline was 2017-2020: 2017: New coaster 2018: General park improvements 2019: Family ride + general park improvements 2020: New Coaster If at least one or two seasons between large additions is geared towards general improvements around the property, I would be happy.
  16. Next to former Carowinds #2, #17 probably has had the most cosmetic changes of any Crown to date. https://KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/32769-the-amusement-park-railroad-thread/&do=findComment&comment=802165
  17. I hear Copperhead Strike didn’t meet expectations but I could be wrong. Years ago it was easier to predict what some of the larger parks would get but now I’m not sure what the future holds for our park when it comes to large scale coasters. During speculations, don’t think people were screaming “INVERT” in 2013 or “GCI” in 2016. Of course people were screaming “GIGA” in 2019 because it was somewhat obvious and fans had been wanting it for years. Now we’re back in the times where, like 2013 and 2016, we don’t really know what we’re getting (unless we peak at the Mason permits.)
  18. I agree. I hope that who ever’s next in line looks at what he’s done and carries on that tradition of bringing back and preserving the park’s history while cooking up fun projects for the future.
  19. I’m glad he acknowledged that Sol Spin was a spiritual successor of Skylab.
  20. And then there could be someone who has gone multiple times this season and been able to ride it every time without issue. I just looked at the webcams and it seems to be running fine. I’ve gone to KI on a couple of occasions where Invertigo was down, but when I would be driving down on Kings Island drive, I would see it full of people operating like normal. Just because things happen when you’re there, doesn’t mean that’s the norm.
  21. I don’t think there’s a person out there who doesn’t think it could be better if it was closer to 6,000ft. With the cost of steel going up, I’m sure it would’ve cost a whole lot more to even squeeze in one or two more elements before the final break run. I’m happy with what we got but I always wish the ride duration was a tad longer.
  22. Personally, I would like to see one brought back and placed elsewhere. Maybe painted and with a light package and located somewhere around BLSC since there’s ample amounts of space. Edit: Wow people really don’t miss Slingshot
  23. I like that they fenced things off to the left of the que and spruced up the lawn between the barrels and Banshee. The landscaping seems to improve with every season as well. Compare what that area used to look like before and after Slingshot’s removal and you can see how much things have improved:
