Dollywood New 2023 Attraction
SonofBaconator replied to Orion13's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It won’t be a B&M hyper. The blueprints that were leaked look like a launched coaster; an Intamin if I were to guess from the sharp turns but it could also be from Mack. -
I don’t think that’s the case from what I’ve been told. I think it comes down to staffing. Winterfest needs the train open more than Haunt does.

Perhaps Cedar Fair wants to test this Titan track concept before bringing it to their larger parks. The chain doesn’t necessarily have a designated “test park” like what you see with Six Flag’s Fiesta Texas. If the ride is a success at World’s of Fun, you might see more of them pop up, if not then at least World’s of Fun has a new ride.

No one likes going through long que lines but they serve a purpose. When I’m at the park, I often wonder if it would be beneficial to open up the entire que line, regardless of park attendance. I’ve experienced this on trips to Busch Gardens and it’s not that bad; I’m still walking so I don’t really feel like I’m waiting. Of course there will always be people who try to hop the lines and that can be handled by security. My argument is, if people continue to walk throughout the que, they won’t necessarily be “waiting” in line. I’m not saying that Banshee needs to have the whole que open, the same with Racer and the inside part of Flight of Fear, but there are some rides that I think would benefit. When Firehawk left, Flight of Fear absorbed its old que. I personally think having people walk through the old Firehawk que before entering the Flight of Fear building would shorten lines. The same can be said for Diamondback and the part of the que line that runs parallel to the lift hill. Am I off on this? Would this be something that you’d want to see? I remember walking the old White Water Canyon que and loving the feeling of not having to wait as long; the same can be said for The Bat.

I personally think the train should make a return. It doesn’t have to necessarily stop halfway like the last time, (it can’t anymore since the haunt platform is gone), but rather take guests on a full lap like Winterfest. Each set of passenger cars can hold a large amount of people and could really help alleviate midway traffic. The train could pass by multiple scary scenes and possibly even live actors. I’m not sure how practical this all would be but it would be another haunt attraction at the park’s disposal.

Hersheypark Wildcat closing

Correct but RMC has more experience building hybrids over 200ft with steep drops and inversions. Perhaps Hersey Park wants something like that with Wildcat. -

They might want to go the Steel Vengeance/ Iron Gwazi route -
While that may be the case for one ride- I wouldn’t apply that to everything. Look at the refurbishments of the Timber Mountain log ride, the Calico mine ride, and Calico river ride that feature animatronics. I think Knott’s wanted to keep that buildings shooting style ride so they took the tech from Voyage to the Iron Reef and applied it to classic IP. Unless the park brings back Phantom Theater like Knott’s did to Bear-y tales, I think it’ll be fine

I suppose not, but things can happen. A lot of children’s play areas have one way in and one way out; ie Chuck E Cheese, McDonald’s Play Place, etc. With pathways to I-Street, Rivertown, and Soak City, Planet Snoopy is by no means a “one way in” section, I just don’t see the need for a transport ride to take people out of that area. A lot of the guests who take their young kids to Planet Snoopy have strollers and wagons that they use, so they’re already planning on walking. I might be the minority, I just don’t see a need for a skyride to go across the park. I personally see skyrides like CP and CGA’s as more of a leisurely ride where people can see the park from a different vantage point. I’m more on board with a skyride that travels the Coney Mall midway, granting guests access views of the park that they haven’t necessarily seen before.

I’m beyond obsessed with the concept Hersheypark chose when they rethemed their Vekoma boomerang. Jolly Rancher Remix’s theming is beautifully executed from the track and support colors, to the changing lights, to the tunnel, and the onboard audio. The fact that each cycle is centered around a different flavor of Jolly Rancher is beyond creative and in a way reminds me of how Mystic Timbers and Verbolten offer different experiences with each ride. I hope more parks go this route in the future when theming their rides, it really does make a difference.

Hersheypark Wildcat closing

Last time I went to Hershey, it rained so much that they had to shut down a lot of the rides. Does the park of the park where Wildcat is get a lot of foot traffic? It would bring a lot of people to the back of the park if it’s not as packed back there. -
I was thinking more along the lines of altered character audio, the presence of Jack-o-lanterns and additional Halloween props, and so on- not so much incorporating live actors.

I understand wanting to be welcome but I personally wouldn’t want a lot of people hanging around the outside of the entrance when they can hang around on International Street. I’d rather resources be spent inside the gates as opposed to outside them.
-
I personally like our entrance- it conceals what’s on the other side. Once guests emerge on the other side, the whole park opens up as the fountains dance along to the music with the Eiffel Tower and other rides providing the backdrop. Having an entrance like what Cedar Point and Carowinds have would kill that aesthetic. Not everything has to be sleek and modern.
