  1. In that case can this thread by temporary locked? All this conversation does is anger people
  2. Valuable space? Not every square inch of the park needs to be developed or expanded upon. Down the road, the park might get a better ROI by replacing it with something like a coaster or expansion but for the moment its fine. Personally, I don't think its wise to develop a lot in the front. I remember when Paramount did this and Rivertown was basically a ghost town.
  3. Once infrastructure is gone, its gone... Timberwolf exists as a venue that can be used if and when the time comes that KI wants to have a concert or some type of event. If they tear down Timberwolf, they'll have no opportunity to host large concerts or events of similar size in the future. Its the similar equivalent of a sports team leaving a city- its rare that they come back. Look at Oakland. Much like the Haunt buildings that sit vacant for most of the year, they still serve a purpose. I think it would be unwise to tear it down for something like a coaster; especially when @Hawaiian Coasters 325 created a concept that works
  4. Not asking for a specific coaster but rather asking for specific experiences. Do you want hang time like Copperhead Strike? Do you want it to haul like a raptor? Big inversions? Tight inversions? Ejector? Floater? Etc? Pick your poison
  5. I think those multi inverting coasters like Steel Curtain by S&S look cool but I hear it doesn't run well. I personally don't know if the alleged downtime is a Kennywood thing or an S&S thing. As long as it doesn't have bad downtime and has good capacity I'm down for any manufacturer Cedar Fair has recently worked with, with exception to Gerstlauer. For some reason I feel like Gerstlauers should be built in smaller parks.
  6. B&M doesn't see innovation as a way to stay in business. You don't see Mercedes Benz making muscle cars. There are companies who like to play if safe and there are companies who like to take risks. B&M is making their most money playing it safe and its paying off for them. Intamin has a whole incident section on their Wikipedia page.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intamin
  7. I talk religiously on this topic all the time but I want to hear what others have to say. Both parks opened in 1975 but started out in different directions. Kings Dominion opened more as an amusement park where as Williamsburg opened as more of a theme park. Today its no contest that Williamsburg is the superior Virginia park in terms of rides, attractions, and experiences. They have been succeeding the past decade where it seems like Kings Dominion has been receding. So what happened? What was the straw that broke the camel's back? Was it exclusivity clauses? Was it location? Tax incentives? Etc? While all of these had to have had some factor, there still had to be one singular decision that made one park become more successful than the other. That decision could have been made by the more successful park and payed off or it could have been made by the less successful park and failed. I'd love to hear your thoughts
  8. Arrow hardly used modern tech Watch their attempt at a modern coaster
  9. "Reaching the end of its service Life" is basically a PR term used to justify the removal of an asset. If a ride is popular and the parts are available then a park will do everything in its power to keep it operating- even if it means replacing all the track.
  10. I think it all depends on how popular a ride is. People don't necessarily like Hulk because its a B&M but more so because its a very popular IP. Whether Busch Gardens keeps Montu or Kumba depends on how popular they continue to be with guests. If they were the top two most ridden rides in the park, there might be incentive to retrack them out of popularity. Dueling Dragons wasn't necessarily a popular ride and when Harry Potter came in, they tried to tie it in to the wizarding world the best they could. Not to say that it was unpopular, it was just a coaster that lost the dueling feature. If the Hagrid's ride could have been built elsewhere, I don't necessarily think Universal would have scrapped Dragon Challenge at that time. IMO when it comes to themed rides, its not the manufacturer that makes the ride popular, its the park. Case in point- look at who manufactured Expedition Everest.
  11. Some things I noticed. Parking is an issue during busy days for the back of the park. A lot of people go to Cedar Point Shores and they end up having to park in overflow and sometimes on the grass. A parking structure for back of the park would do wonders. I too would increase the gold pass price to $150 I would try to incorporate some attractions off-peninsula via a second park. They used to have a challenge park and the concept was cool but it took up too much peninsula space. If they could have a separate park for go karts, high ropes, and other attractions, they might encourage their resort guests to spend more days in Sandusky-much like how Disney does it in Orlando. I know that's a lot to ask but its just a thought. I would work on their front right side of the park. These boardwalk and Planet Snoopy concepts are perfect examples of what I mean. More things geared towards families. I really think they should look at a family coaster. Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Blue Streak, and Iron Dragon represent the few non kid coasters that are geared more towards families; Gemini is debatable. I think adding the coasters in the concepts I linked in "4" would work out well.
  12. Its color scheme was literally a combination of both Intimidator coasters.
  13. I thought I read somewhere that BGW might be operating year round so that might force Cedar Fair's hand with KD.
  14. Compared to the other Paramount parks that were acquired by Cedar Fair, Kings Dominion has been on the short end of the stick. KI, Carowinds, and Canada's Wonderland got big additions under Cedar Fair while KD seemed to be going backwards.
  15. Only time will tell if we ever see a "reaction" from Kings Island and Cedar Fair. I've said this religiously but KK and take away from the Louisville and even Lexington market which is 2 of the 6 major cities KI pulls from. Not that people would stop traveling to KI from the Kentucky cities but their trips might be less frequent. The thing is, I don't know what Herschend would give Kentucky Kingdom in terms of rides. If they go too big, like a B&M dive or something of that size, they run the risk of competition from Kings Island. I think they're better off getting smaller rides in order to survive competing with KI. They might be more on par with Holiday World as their competitor.
  16. Is this a Herschend thing or has this been in the works for a while?
  17. The way I see it, one park is adding rides and thriving while another is closing rides and and falling. If Cedar Fair wants this park to succeed, I think they should look at Mack for KD. They could give them a powersplash which BGW doesn't have and maybe go with a Mack or Gerstlauer spinner. Anything to give them a competitive edge. I'm sorry to say it but if I was given the opportunity to visit one Virginia park, I would choose BGW in a heartbeat
  18. I think KD is going to transition to be the discount park for a while until they get their footing back. They removed their best coaster and have been removing or closing some of their smaller ones during the past decade. That rumored B&M wing might help KD but BGW is years ahead of them in my opinion. Though its been spread out through other Sea World parks, I think Tempesto was intentional. A Premier Skyrocket II would have been perfect for KD during the 2010s but BGW beat them to it, which is partially why I think KD chose to aquire a S&S 4d freespin; not just because it spins like the Crypt but to beat BGW to something.
  19. Unfortunately though they have no cushion. Love them or hate them, B&Ms provide cushions for parks so they can push themselves further. If something happens to Cheetah Hunt, BGT has Montu, Kumba, and Sheikra. If something happens to Pantheon, BGW has Apollo's Chariot, Alpengeist, and Griffon. KD only has Dominator Pretty much. Notice how after the Paramount buy, Cedar Fair gave us three.
  20. With Six Flags Great Adventure unveiling their seasonal Dinosaur Attraction, I began to think about our old attraction, "Dinosaurs Alive." Hypothetically speaking, Kings Island and Cedar Fair could have really capitalized on the whole Dinosaur thing and made it better than it was. Imagine for a moment that Kinzel wanted to go all out with this Dinosaur concept. Again this is all hypothetical. First off I think it would have been neat if DA had its own entrance This would be advantageous for a few reasons: Admission would be cheaper. Even though DA was $5 to get in, that was on top of already paying park admission. You could make money off of people who don't want to go into the main park. A solo dinosaur park with $20 admission might be appealing to school groups, summer camps, families, etc. Secondly, I would make it more than just Dinosaurs. Much like how Disney and Universal have their separate parks, I would replicate that on a much smaller scale. I would include a few buildings for food, merch, exhibits, and so on. Basically make it a permanent attraction vs temporary. I'm sure there would be more to add to this but I'm just brainstorming ideas to something that was done in a temporary fassion.
  21. I feel sorry for KD. It always feels like the clause that BGW had with B&M really hurt KD down the road.
  22. I honestly think that would be cool where the barnyard is.
  23. Be careful what you wish for... https://www.rockymtnconstruction.com/family-hybrid-coasters/
  24. Its reminiscent of when SOB was SBNO for three years which made Banshee's payoff a lot better all those years later. Vortex's land will sit vacant for a while and people will talk and speculate what'll go there. The good thing is we finally have our giga so people will *hopefully tone it down some and not fly off the handle with guesses considering we're missing a traditional sitdown multi looper. *I know I was asking a lot there when I said that hopefully people will tone it down.
