  1. I was unaware of that. I'll have to look into this more since that stuff is up my alley!
  2. Here's a hypothetical "what-if": Cedar Fair acquires the land and turns it into an off-property sports complex for tournaments and scrimmages. It would compliment the campground that's being built on the other side of the highway and bring in more out of town guests.
  3. Kings Island will make money off that campground regardless. No the money won't go directly into the park's pocket, but they'll get their guests. After all, the park is the main pull for tourism in that area to begin with. If a family from say Michigan comes down and stays 2-3 days, that's more money they'll spend at the park. RV travelers love to find places to travel and the more luxurious the better. People are buying campers left and right anymore so there's always going to be a market for them. Also, Cedar Fair doesn't have to pay to build or operate the campground leaving 100% of that to the company who'll operate it. I'm sure KI will partner with the campground and offer up some deals to mutually benefit both parties involved but like I said earlier, KI will be making money regardless.
  4. That's why most amusement parks that are super close to cities don't do as well. I know nothing about Denver's geography but I'd say they have to be at least 5 miles away from the city to fully prosper. Land is typically more affordable and in greater supply outside of city limits.
  5. At times... It seems like a few pieces of wood get staked into the ground and people read into it more than they should.
  6. I agree, that would look horrible for the park. I think its obvious that one day Invertigo will leave us but I don't see that day coming anytime soon. Its got extra parts from Stinger so its not like its on life support. I don't think the park could afford to lose another coaster at this point in time
  7. @gforce1994 I'm asking this in the most civil and kind way possible. Why? What specifically do flag markers indicate that would lead you to assume its a ride removal? We just lost two crowd pleasers back to back.
  8. Bare with me, this was an old idea I had from about 2 years ago before the dorms were even really a topic of discussion. Imagine the "campground" as just the dorms It could be a bus route to drop off workers. I have no clue how employees who live in those dorms get to work but maybe they're making the system more streamlined. That or GWL partnered with KI to build a shuttle to and from the resort and the park.
  9. Unfortunately the way the water park was built, you can't do separate admission. The train plays a big role in the whole "two parks under one ticket" thing. I think the pros outweigh the cons when it comes to keeping the parks single admission. I do want more focus on the water park this next decade. A lot of the original water slides are still there and they could use some new attractions. A water coaster seems like a necessity at this point. There's a ton of stuff the park could get that could excite guests. I mean look at what Splashin Safari has
  10. I wonder if contracts had already been signed with manufacturers prior to Covid-19's wrath. If not, there's still a lot they could do. There are a few parks that don't have a 4d freespin clone that would be decent filler. I could also see them focusing more on their water parks and smaller attractions. Then again, Six Flags loves to make those joint-announcement videos so I could totally see them coming out and saying "Covid-19 hit us hard, we're going to focus on future seasons, etc" Bankruptcy might be a real conversation for them right now. They're doing better than many people think but they're also nowhere near they were in the 90s and early 2000s.
  11. This also isn't the 1st time a Disney attraction has been rethemed in favor of other properties: Tower of Terror became Guardians of the Galaxy, they made Pixar Pier, countless Star Wars lands, Avengers campuses are in the works, etc.
  12. Adventureland is right in Midwestern Six Flags and Cedar Fair territory with SFGA, SFSTL, Frontier City, Valleyfair, and Worlds of Fun not being too far away. I'd love to see the data when the season is over. I wonder how many small parks like them could benefit from a buyout, especially during times like these. Upon further research Adventureland almost sits perfectly between Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair by around 3 hours give or take. Also all parks reside right by I-35 so that would be the main connecting highway which could be a good way to sell platinum passes.
  13. I think they also might benefit from sticking to just water parks for now. If they work their way into warmer climates by acquiring water parks, they could maybe add some amusement rides in as well.
  14. I think we needed our water park to he included to give guests more bang for their buck. I don't think the numbers would favor seperate admission given its placement. Heck as mentioned earlier, Worlds of Fun included Oceans of Fun in their park admission back in 2013. @Pagoda Gift Shop @coaster sally I think the name change was just too easy not to do. Its included in park admission so I'm assuming they didn't want to go overboard with rebranding. I'd still like some updates though, especially since I mentioned it would be a smart move following the pandemic.
  15. That would be awesome as well. As I stated earlier though, I don't think we need one. We already have a solid lineup at the moment and our next coaster should focus on a lot of inversions. After that, coaster-wise, I think we should get another family type of coaster like a spinner, wild mouse, or something along those lines. Maybe even a 50ft gravity group woodie in Planet Snoopy would be welcomed
  16. @Benjamin22 supplied this the other day. Yes the data was 5 years ago but it still holds up I think. Its crazy to see Dorney surpass Kings Dominion when they have to contend with far more superior parks like Hershey and Great Adventure where Kings Dominion only has to content with Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I assume its just population at that point. I'd love to see how that proposed GG shuttle coaster would help that park out. I've been saying for years that Dorney should be getting more love than it does. @VekomaRulz can attest to that.
  17. I don't mean to sound like a downer but I don't see us getting a gigantic RMC anytime within the next decade. We really don't need one. What we need is a 6+ inversion coaster. Would I love an RMC? Yes, but its not necessary. Look how long it took us to get a giga. I think if we ever got anything from RMC it would be something like Outlaw Run from Silver Dollar City- nothing huge like Steel Vengeance, Wildfire, Goliath, etc.
  18. I don't think CF would give up Canada's Wonderland so quickly. This is all just a result of Covid-19. Heck the Toronto Blue Jays aren't even permitted to play in Canada at the moment. Cancelling all these events across the chain are a result of understaffed parks that have to abide by Covid-19 protocols. There isn't one chain that's not being negatively affected by this virus. Whether you agree with the response the globe has had to this or not, nothing is going to be entirely certain until there's a vaccine ready.
  19. Can Son of Beast remain buried? The only thing people still really praise it for are the stats it had. The ride experience was painful and sent numerous people to the hospital. The name itself triggers old memories from people that are not always pleasant. Can't there be an original ride name? No "Son of Beast 2.0", "The Beast Unleashed", "Son if Beast Returns" etc. Lets just remember SOB for what it was, an infamous ride that had a dull layout with some impressive stats. It was a wakeup call to the industry that the world wasn't ready for 200ft wooden coasters.
  20. I think with the parks losing a substantial amount of revenue, I think its likely that we'll see more water park additions across the whole chain in the future
  21. I initially had the same thought. It seems they wanted it to fit in a pretty tight space which I think it pretty unique in it of itself. It could've been lower to the ground but I feel like they didn't want to take up anymore land than they had to. Maybe I'm wrong. Nevertheless its unique and different that Fury and Leviathan!
  22. Anyone wish Kings Island properly celebrated Oktoberfest? We have a whole section dedicated to it to my knowledge, the park hasn't celebrated it (I was born in the late 90s so maybe they did before I was born) It would be cool to hear Bavarian music, strudels, beer, and such. Cincinnati is thick with German heritage so I think it could work. The one thing that I can figure why they don't do it is because Cincinnati hosts the 2nd largest Oktoberfest in the world so they might not want to compete in that respect. Thoughts?
