  1. Its what they do. Whenever you say something that they don't agree with, they'll react all confused and not contribute. When they do, they'll make a one or two sentences argument "B&M is boring." "Intamin is the past, present, & future." Try not to get too annoyed with it, they've been doing it for months. Don't let them discourage you from posting your opinions.
  2. I think if nothing is coming in a while, I would want to see grass planted. Having that land look dry and bare would be an eyesore for anyone who walks past or is in the Eiffel Tower. I talked earlier about widening/reworking the path between Coney Mall and Rivertown. I had an idea but I don't know how feasible it would be. Could the park relocate BLSC's entrance to somewhere near its switchbacks in the bottom of the picture? You all ready see where the old Antique Car entrance is next to the switchbacks so that could make a suitable entrance I think. I always see people cutting through from Rivertown anyway. The 3 point challenge could be relocated and the plaza could get demolished and reworked into a larger pathway that could maybe accommodate a flat ride or just extra space. Notice the trees in the picture between the arcade and The Beast, could that be used as an entrance for a new ride? Sure it might be tight but its still a possibility.
  3. That's still impressive though. Even though the polls are open to the public and people can vote multiple times, its still nice to know where we stand in the industry. Silver Dollar City, Cedar Point, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg are great parks so coming in 4th behind all of them says a lot about what people think of our park. Being in the top 5 is something to be proud of!
  4. The old SCS parking lot was converted to deluxe rv sites that debuted in 2018 and it was a huge success. When I worked for LHP, they were still talking about what exactly they wanted to do with that land. I think ultimately it was going to be used to create more sites but I'm sure they wanted to keep their options open at the time. An idea that was brough up was the possibly of water activities like what they had at Breakers but to my knowledge that was merely brainstorming. Fun fact: that space was used for their firework shows (not 4th of July) so it sounded like bombs going off if you stayed at the campground. You had a killer view though!
  5. As someone who's worked at Cedar Point before, the only operational issues I've noticed are staffing, the fact that they're landlocked, and their Intamins. A chunk of their employees aren't from the immediate area which can be an issue from an operations standpoint. Furthermore, the fact that they're on a peninsula makes it difficult to get everyone in the park during busy times like memorial day weekend, 4th of July, Halloweekends, etc. Their causeway can only hold so many cars which I can understand is an issue. They don't have the land that KI has which is problematic but its not like they can just build more land. Its unfortunate but that's how it is. In response to their rides being down, they do have 5 Intamins which are known for downtime. Unfortunately those are the rides that people are most eager to ride so it does create a lot of issues when they have to go down for maintenance. This is why you see the park getting more B&Ms to fill those gaps if the Intamins can't operate. Cedar Point is one of those parks that you have to stay for more than one day to fully enjoy. Additionally depending on when you go more or less defines your experience. For example, I'd wouldn't be going on a holiday, holiday weekend, or just a weekend in general. If you go on a Tuesday/Wednesday, Wednesday/Thursday, or Thursday/Friday you're much better off. I think every park has their operational issues and sometimes people tend to notice things more when they go to a park like Cedar Point where they expect things to run smoother.
  6. I don't see how that makes sense... So by your logic, KI just has to get the biggest thing they can to fill that spot? I can think of several large rides that I don't want going into that spot that could be available. Can't the largest available ride also be one that best suits our coaster collection? If I'm the park and I'm going to spend millions of dollars on a coaster, I'm going to make sure it fits in well with the other rides around the park. Many people do. The park has a knack for breaking length records in some degree. We currently have more coasters that exceed a mile in length than any other park in the chain. This is a Kings Island fansite, if you don't have anything nice to say on here then why do you post? Poorly managed? How so? The park is recognized globally as one of the best parks in the world. Steel Vengeance is the only thing at CP? So Millennium Force, Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, GateKeeper, and Valravn aren't thrilling enough?
  7. As a KI enthusiast, I don't think I'm demanding. Do I want the park to get record breakers, be able to go on behind the scenes tours, and get perks? Of course I do, who wouldn't want that? Do I expect to get these things because I have a gold pass and visit the park constantly? Of course not. I think for the most part we're good people, but I cannot deny that there are those out there who extremely sway one way or another. There are those who think we need to completely praise everything the park does, that every addition is THE best in the world, the park can do no wrong, and that people shouldn't think otherwise. Then there are those who do nothing but criticize the park and everything they do. We get a giga, its not big enough. We get a GCI- why wasn't it an RMC? Why do we keep getting B&Ms? Antique Cars?- I thought Son of Beast was coming back. The povs aren't good enough. The list goes on... I think most of us are in the middle. Yes Kings Island is a great park with great rides. Do they deserve to be ridiculed for not appealing to every enthusiast's wants and desires? No. Are we supposed to not be critical whenever the park does something? Again no. I'm grateful for what we've gotten and how the park is. Do I want some things to be different? Yes, but everyone has their own opinion and reasons why. I believe businesses need some criticism to improve and adapt. With that said though, I think some people take this concept to heart and make it a point to only see the negatives of things. We're such a historic park that revitalized the country's love of coasters, brought a lot of 1sts to the industry, and arguably broke the mold in a lot of ways- cut the park a break. In conclusion, I think those who are extremely loyal need to tone it down a notch and those who are extremely critical need to lighten up a bit. These are the people that give KI enthusiasts a bad name.
  8. The fact that the antique cars cut into the Coney Mall midway should be some proof that they wouldn't build another coaster station in that area. Son of Beast's station was built elevated over a valley so I don't see why it couldn't be done again. I think the midway between Coney Mall and Rivertown could be reworked to allow for a coaster The BLSC plaza is huge and takes up a ton of space so I could see them sacrificing that space for a modified midway.
  9. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet but I've heard the near misses aren't really near misses. Is that accurate?
  10. Skip to 2:50 and you have some juicy stuff. Makes me wonder if he's been on this site before.
  11. This is mainly in response to Theme Park Prediction's review on Orion. I don't really watch to much of his videos but he said something about KI enthusiasts saying we're butt kissers and we over praise everything. Its not just him who's brought up the KI fanboy thing though. I've heard from a couple YouTubers and seen people who comment on KI related videos claiming they hate KI fanboys (and girls) because were spoiled, overhype stuff, and go nuts when we don't get exactly what we want. Is there a justifiable reason for this? Do we act entitled and expect the park to give us only the absolute best and cry when we don't get our way? While the attractions we get are incredible, do we often label them as underwhelming because we give it too much hype? Do we overpraise things because we want something in return? Do we just come off as ungrateful or too overwhelming? I'd like to hear your thoughts
  12. "Welcome back Orion riders, how was that ride?"
  13. BUMP Didn't feel like starting all Silverwood thread just to ask a few simple questions. Does Silverwood just serve the Idaho demographic? Do people from cities Seattle and Portland travel out there? Its around a 5 hour drive from Seattle and a 6 hour drive from Portland so about the time it would take to get from Cincinnati to Chicago or Cincinnati to Milwaukee. I know Oregon just got Adrenaline Peak but that's about it. Is Silverwood then the premier park of the Northwest? Do people in Seattle and Portland even go to amusement parks? Is there an untapped market just waiting to be touched here?
  14. ^I knew I went somewhere because I got a "Bring a friend for $10" ticket I agree with @BoddaH1994. Pass holders are saving a ton of money buy getting two seasons in one so I think the park should encourage more in park spending
  15. I thought there was a page where you could go to see how many points you racked up
  16. Sorry to double post but I had a hypothetical question: If Cedar Fair were to acquire Busch Gardens Tampa, would that affect Kings Island's investments? Busch Gardens operates year-round so I think they'd be able to generate enough revenue to sustain themselves. Additionally KI still draws in over 3 million annually so there's still a need to invest. So if not KI would another park be affected like Carowinds? Also could the same thing be said if the company purchased any other park? Worlds of Fun, Valley Fair, Michigan's Adventure and Dorney were all getting pretty good coasters at a decent rate but then after the Paramount buy they became the chain's bottom tier parks. Would buying another park make sense if the parks I just listed aren't getting as much attention as they used to? Again all hypothetical
  17. Like points based off of transactions if you show a gold/platinum pass. For example if I buy a $4 Coke I earn 1 loyalty point If I buy say a $50 souvenier I'd earn 13 points, and so on. The idea is to encourage in park spending by rewarding guests with things that cost the park little to no money to produce.
  18. I find it interesting that the current model that has the most votes is the wing. Do those who voted for the wing care to share why?
  19. I think loyalty programs are a win win for the park and their gold pass holders. Guests spend money and parks give out inexpensive perks and the cycle continues. Some rewards I'd like to see implemented are discounted bring your friend tickets, Fast Lane tickets, discounted merch, exclusive behind the scenes tours, discounted/free canopies at Soak City, etc. I even think it would be cool if there was something for exclusive perks for Platinum Pass holders who accumulate a certain amount of points where pass holdets could get discounts on resort and hotel stays, behind the scenes tours, vip experiences etc.
  20. @purdude86 one of the bigger complaints I would have from family and friends who have little kids is that they're often stuck in Planet Snoopy because their kids aren't quite brave enough to ride bigger family oriented attractions like Adventure Express and BLSC. I think having a 50ft woodie would be a perfect transitioning point for kids who want to try their hand at the bigger rides. Plus it would give the park another woodie, add to the total track length, and give younger guests something new. I completely agree that it would draw in more people; along with a Peanuts dark ride.
  21. Unlike Vortex, Volcano and Stinger sat on relatively flat land. I'm not an expert on construction or demolition but I think the digging and grading might have more to do with removing footers and whatever remnants of Vortex were left over. They could be prepping for a future addition but I don't see the need if its going to take a while, unless of course the company they hired is under some type of contract to tend to that land. That or maybe grading and digging is just part of the destruction process?
  22. I've only seen one concept people keep referencing. Seems like a tight squeeze.
  23. @purdude86 I'd still like to see a 50ft Kentucky Flyer style Gravity Group woodie where the stage and the barnyard currently reside. So the question is, would you rather want more flats or another kid's coaster?
