Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
disco2000 replied to THE_BEASTmaster's topic in Kings Island
I edited my post concurrent with you posting LOL, but I still stand by that is not what they market themselves as but they may do so in case by case if a relationship client asks for it. That example is buried in their pics and dismantle does not show up as a service in pull down menus... Then why didn't they take down Firehawk and only had one mobilization on site.... The argument though trying to be resolved is someone stating as fact that the same company building Orion will be dismantling Vortex and these discussions are to show the core services these companies provide are contrary to that...so is it insider information about Vortex or a speculation that comes across as factual? -

Where does it say O'Rourke constructs things...all of the above items are simply different marketing ways to present demolition in some form or fashion... Skyhigh's own webpage - "we have been erecting steel since 1982"...nowhere does it say they dismantle....and they go further to state "ready and willing to travel to meet your coaster installation needs". Key word is installation. If they did dismantle they would state that or simply say coaster needs... You are right though, either could decide to expand into the other market at any time if work is light in their niche, so do you have insider information to support your claim? -

But companies that only design coasters have enough business to support staying in business... Some companies will only do demolition as some will only do new construction.... Look up O'Rourke- all they do is demolition - "demolition specialists since 1962" is their slogan... I guess we will know soon enough if you are correct... -
Why about on Kings Island Drive by the drop-off/marque sign where they are about same distance from you..or the told booth where Orion is closer to our than Diamondback... nobody has posted the unimpressive pics from those viewpoints lol... As others have said - the ride experience is what matters and most put Maverick high on their list and that cannot be seen from the parking lot... But I also see the side where people are expecting a giga to be the "wow look at the size of that thing" view like the other gigas provide and from that aspect is where I expect most of the negativity about Orion will surface from the GP and many enthusiasts...
-
And said POV also showed Vortex, backward Racer, and Soak City moved to North side of park....
-
Looking up to the people on WindSeeker lol
-
We understand terrain and optics and things closer look bigger than things far away - it is just an observation that this will not tower the skyline like the other Cedar Fair gigas do. Standing in Carowinds parking lot right next to Intimidator and your eyes are drawn to the size and magnitude of the Fury lift hill that is towards the back of the park and don't really give Intimidator much thought...you hear people in the lot saying look at the size of Fury while they are literally next to Intimidator...Orion will not do that from our parking lot... To the casual general public Orion is not gonna give that major omnipresent feel like the other Cedar Fair gigas do - all whose lift hills are towards the back of the park...
-
Yet Fury lift hill is towards the back like Orion will be...or Leviathan... Intimidator at Carowinds is in the front of the park and Fury back in the park still overtakes the skyline....that likely won't happen with Orion...
-
THIS.... I just don't see this ride overtaking the skyline like Fury does at Carowinds even though they have another Diamondback like B&M in the park.... I hope I am wrong but I think from most vantage points it will get the nickname Diamondback 2.0
-
I could be wrong but I think it is mud lol...even though one would think yesterday's rain would have washed it off.but it had more a mud tint than primer tint...maybe someone with a zoom camera can tell lol

Enjoy the crowds! Busy October Sunday - Mystic Fast Lane out the queue..

-
Hanks burrito line out the door halfway to bathrooms Racer almost a full queue Adventure Express out the queue Crowds are getting bigger

Invertigo is open now..and crowds starting to show....

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
disco2000 replied to THE_BEASTmaster's topic in Kings Island
WLWT just reported that Vortex will be torn down at the end of the season...so are they first, fast, and accurate or just simply misunderstanding what was being told (cross threading...)....time will tell.... -
It is not posted yet.. probably embarrassed at the quality after seeing what six uploads from a cellphone lol... HC325 has connections he may be able to get the footage
-
.....3 dead webcams....2 large cranes....and an Eiffel Tower dressed up as a Christmas tree...
-
Don't we all wish we could get paid what they get paid and be wrong so often and not get fired... Why in this day and age of technology is the Chopper 9 video quality so poor? Six would get better quality from his cellphone than what we just saw on Channel 9. Yet competitor Channel 5's drone video quality is exceptional and their drone is substantially cheaper than a helicopter...
-
As expected, the video quality from Chopper 9 looks like it is from the 80s....and they said Vortex has given 275 million rides....and we know the media is always right....

Pack out in the Cedar Fair park
disco2000 replied to Cedar Fair Fanboy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
One has to wonder your age and years experience at parks? As Indyguy pointed out they have had these crowds in October since the Paramount Days. One could even argue that KI is down a little this year based on parking lot observations - years past parking would extend into the grass area south of Soak City by Western Row and they would have employees park elsewhere and open up employee lot to guests. I think that has only happened once this year. Cedar Point has routinely had the crowds in October. Old rumor was Cedar Point made more money in October than Kings Island did all year... probably not true but makes the point that CP gets busy... In many years Cedar Point would have a soft capacity close where they would let people in if a parking spot could be found. As silver pointed out, the gold pass sale this year at CP certainly tipped it past the capacity point they had to officially make notices, but they were certainly expecting it...in years past it wasn't uncommon to sit on the causeway for over an hour just to get to the parking toll and then drive around the lot for 30min just to find an open spot - and not a spot close just a spot to park to quit driving around the lot.... Do a search of this forum and you will find historical posts from long time park visitors of both parks talking about how busy these parks get in October... Rumor is October 2017 was a record attendance for KI... -
It was way more crowded last Sunday...

10/19/19: Cedar Point closed for capacity
disco2000 replied to malem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
One has to wonder when the "cheap" prices and "5 months free" giveaways that have caused this recent influx will turn the other way and people not renew because of crowds....then wait to see what they give away....
