And that is a valid point as well and is why we see a few of the other CF parks offer that pass; however, I doubt you would see it this year at KI because they would not want to refund all the passes bought that would now fall under that category. Given the attendance that KI gets in Planet Snoopy I doubt we will see it here anytime soon; however, if a study shows they would make up for the loss of passes currently sold in the pre-K range with new pass holders and their pre-K children, then it would happen. Another thing to keep in mind is that surprisingly a large percentage of gold pass holders to KI have no idea of a platinum pass or that other parks offer the pre-K pass. So with the exception of those on this forum, and those that travel and know of the other parks, the typical greater Cincinnati passholder family has no idea about the other parks. I am amazed talking to guests how many confirm that statement.

And the same can be said about the Planet Snoopy areas at the other CF parks that offer this pass. There are days at KI that waiting for a Planet Snoopy ride is longer than the wait at Banshee or Diamondback. The same cannot be said for Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, or Carowinds comparing their Planet Snoopy to their respective "big" rides. There are times you can literally see Planet Snoopy on a favorable weather weekend at CP go an hour between a kid riding a ride - it is unbelievable unless you experience it yourself. Regarding offering free admission and/or reduced prices to anyone is a slippery slope - look no further than at Dollywood. Dollywood used to provide free admission to those in wheelchairs or blind/deaf, not because Dollywood couldn't accommodate them any different than other parks could, but it was southern hospitality both by the park and in some instances the disabled visitor themselves choosing not to burden others while they accommodated them getting on a ride. Dollywood estimates over 40,000 admissions/year were granted under this policy. Guess what, an ADA action group claimed that this policy was a violation of ADA because it made the disabled feel different and not equal and filed suit, so Dollywood dropped the policy and now charges everyone that enters the park. Common sense did not prevail in that situation. So instead of getting in free and still being different and not equal by having to go up the exit to get on the ride, they now get to pay for that convenience.
  3. A prior discussion about height limits over KI:
  4. I do think it is interesting that supposed people in the know on this forum were adamant that an associate did it, when in fact the snapshot taken shows it was indeed at least two people... Now to the really observant ones, you can figure out what level of employment they are...and that's all I have to say about that...
  5. The kid center area by Chick-fil-a has lights synced to music. With some decent sound/bass not heard at the zoo...
  6. Too bad the introduction of the hot beverage mugs resulted in the return of the unsanitary conditions that were eliminated with the souvenir cups when they went to self dispense drinks. Yep, we now have the return of those preparing and serving your food with gloves on now have to take someone's filthy hot beverage cup and handle it to get the hot beverage and then return to dishing out your food. Witnessed someone use the restroom and not wash hands and then took cup to food stand to have it handled by the employee dishing out the food. Gross... Hopefully that is remedied soon.
  7. By reading through this thread, it appears some "bets" were lost and some people are eating crow LOL for calling out people (and in a few isolated cases kinda rudely) that were saying the entire building would be coming down...I am sure the appropriate apologies were provided via PM That's what can make the internet so frustrating when people make adamant claims like they are an expert on a subject and then "bully" people that don't agree with their opinion. What we had here is people not involved with construction or demolition making claims the building is being gutted to be re-purposed and shooting down those that said no the building is coming down entirely. There is a difference between speculating and acting like you know based on limited information. Now that it is gone we have seen that just because a building wasn't hit with the wrecking ball doesn't mean it isn't coming down entirely. Just because it wasn't razed in a few days didn't mean it wasn't disappearing. In many cases, it is cheaper to demo and re-build than it is to retrofit - look at all the UDFs and KFCs being torn down and rebuilt on same site. In the big scheme of things, this was a small demolition project. Many factors come into consideration, among things budget and schedule, in addition to environmental hazards, etc.. If something that isn't time sensitive can be accomplished cheaper with a longer schedule, guess what happens, it takes longer to come down. A building this size, it is typically cheaper to demo slowly and take out what can be re-used and recycled than making it a heap of rubble and going through it afterwards. Sometimes, a scrapper may actually PAY to demo the building for the salvage rights of what is inside instead of being paid to demo a site. At the end of the day it comes down to the scope and contract signed, neither of which the park has to share. I laugh sometimes at the tangents this forum takes - I am surprised there isn't speculation and a poll on how often Helbig uses the facilities LOL Now back to speculation...I think it will be something better than what was there!
  8. The Commissioner of the Patent office in 1899 declared that the Patent office should be shut down because "everything that can be invented has been invented"... how wrong he was....and how wrong to think that every type of coaster has been invented!
  9. I highly doubt it - think of all the people that already purchased a pass for a kiddo that would fall in the Pre-K pass age and KI would need to refund that money if they issued the Pre-K pass now - and we know they don't want to set a precedent of refunding passes. Plus KI is such a season pass heavy park now, they don't really need to entice any more people to buy a pass because that is essentially what the Pre-K pass is doing - enticing families at those other parks with the offer of hey mom and dad buy a pass and your kid under 5 gets in free.
  10. ^That works for me - just wanted to make sure we maintained consistency regarding unnamed sources being provided! Question is, was it Greg who gave the decision from above? He was GM of KI and is now above and one could assume he had a role previously in the pop music selection last year as GM...
  11. I feel for gforce - wow did he get slammed and posters quick to discount his opinion. As with giga's in another thread and a lot of what is discussed on this forum, enthusiasts are typically not the target audience for a park. Sadly, unless KI comes out with their rationale/business plan behind it, everyone is simply guessing. Fact of the matter is companies spend lots of time and money on deciding on musical selections and what to play/not play. Ever been in a Target? Target used to be against playing music in any of its stores, based partly on a strategy to create a distraction-free shopping experience. Up until recently, zero Target stores had any background music. Most still do not. They are experimenting with it. A Target spokesperson informed investors that by the end of the year 180 stores will be not-quite-blasting playlists of music that is “upbeat, positive and has playful personality.” The music is likely intended to provide customers another unique in-store shopping experience they can’t find at other retailers, analysts say. Target's Board believes "Everybody is looking for a way to make the customer experience more enjoyable because its becoming less and less about the products and more about the experience.” Their Board believes background music will add another element to its in-store shopping experience as it attempts to differentiate itself from increased competition from online and other brick and mortar retailers. Take that statement and apply it to KI...maybe gforce's demographic was off or maybe not, but management believes that pop music selection will drive a demographic to the park and if not with their own money, then money from their parents. As someone posted, KI has been about pleasing families recently; well now that the young ones are in the park with their families, they are catering to the young demographic for their parents money. Obviously companies feel that the music played in their establishments do indeed have a correlation as to whether people will frequent their establishment and spend money. Sometimes analysts and strategies are way off base, but you can be assured they had a justification for the change. Time will tell..
  12. I'm just curious and cross threading from the music thread, but how is your post in that thread "Unfortunately it looks as if the music is gone for now. I know the team who put together the music for the update. It was a decision that came from above the gm." any different from the post you were reminding about not saying who information came from being against said TOS. Who on the team did you talk to and who above the gm made the decision- you didn't mention names?" One could argue that is insider information and implying the gm doesn't have control over something like music could be damaging. Why would his employees take his direction seriously?
  13. Now that he is Area Manager of Digital Marketing, the first thing he can do is update the website https://www.visitkingsisland.com/media-center
  14. ...Or it is markings for grass mowing - as in this section is cut 1st day of the week, 2nd day, 3rd day....stakes for geese so the mowers don't make chopped geese...
  15. Um, the area marked off is some of the highest in elevation in the parking lot. The flooded area was in the depression/low spot area about 7 rows south in the vicinity of the storm drain that couldn't handle all the flow. It used to be marked with white stripes that was supposed to indicate do not park here but nobody cared about that and they have since worn off.
  16. Mother's Day is usually still a light crowd. Father's Day is usually not a light crowd and the park is typically approaching capacity.
  17. Keep in mind that the $69.99 price was when you had to pay in full at time of purchase - the installment plan did not exist at that time. One would be surprised at the percentage uptick in new passes once the installment plan came into play. The installment plan has substantially increased number of passes sold...and many believe installment plan brought in a less than desirable clientele as well. Actually, I bet most of the people complaining are not millennials...in fact most of the people that commented are indeed not in that generation.
  18. Handbell - I sent you a message - check your inbox...
  19. Despite objections made, the app developed is operating system dependent. Below Android 6.0 and you will not see wait times....and totally hit or miss with iphone - even running same operating version on the same version phone results in differences. Look for a traveling mobile provider to visit a park to you soon selling phones capable of running the app
  20. Yes, Yes, and Yes to your questions...and as I said last year, enjoy this cast...and soon I can say enjoy this cast....and soon I can say enjoy this cast...you get the idea!
  21. ^Not kidding...But yes he looked like the juggler replacement mid season in this outfit and makeup! Probably the confusion lol (intentional???)... You are correct in almost every other observation though...
  22. Regarding hidden content above:
  23. KI updated yesterday, but sadly no wait times now chain wide in new app...yet
  24. The latest version of the apps rolling out at parks this week are sadly missing the wait time feature (although the write-up says it has it) - not that they are always accurate, but it was better than nothing. Hopefully that functionality is added back.
  25. and too many complaints about the change and volume of the new tunes that the train was "muted" today. It was there just very low...
