  1. I have mixed feelings. I love Intamin and appreciate their contributions to the coaster world as they have made some of the best rides man has ever known, but yes reliability just isn't quite there. For example, when one goes to Cedar Point, you normally will see a coaster go down and 80% of the time it always seems to be one of their Intamin rides. Not saying none of the other rides break down, but there has been more than one occasion where I have gone to ride say TTD and it breaks down, only to walk over to Maverick and it too is also down. This happened to me quite a lot in past visits. I was lucky to get at least one ride on each of their Intamin coasters. That same 3 day visit back in 2010, I remember waiting in line for Wicked Twister when there was an issue with one of the wheel assemblies. Me and my friends stood there and watched the mechanics work on whatever problem was there. All I know is that once the coaster was back up and running, everyone that had been watching avoided that set of seats lol I gotta say it was rather amusing.
  2. I would like to see a German pastry shop pop up over in that area if there were ever to be a revival. Here in Indy on the east side we have this amazing little eatery called the Heidelburg Cafe which serves authentic German food, but is well known for selling German pastries and other various authentic German take out for the home. Granted its a bit pricey, that wouldn't be too much of a shock if a similar type place were put into KI seeing as that's to be expected in an amusement park. I just think a German pastry shop would be a nice fit if reviving the area were ever in the works. Ich liebe Deutscheland!
  3. Honestly a quick flash of images of various coasters floods my mind when someone says those two magical words that when placed together creates a warm and comforting feeling within
  4. Well a girl can dream can't she? I know that the world is full of business and business is all about making the almighty dollar, but I guess in my heart I still want to believe there is some benefit for good left out there. Le sigh *shrugs*
  5. Is it just me or does it really feel like the park is appreciating its guests more this season? I feel like there have been so many little gems that have popped up this season in my email, like the tickets that allow up to four people per coupon in for $20 each and what not. I know there have probably been other moments like this in the past, but I guess I just feel like the park is really trying to get people out and make it a little more economy friendly, especially those without season passes. I wish I could have the chance to experience this whole Dollar Days deal, but I will already be going to Pride Night on Friday and I have other things going on this weekend. I still think its great they're bringing it back though for another day to allow for more people to be able to afford some in park food and treats!
  6. I think its great CP is getting a couple of new flats and adding some character to an area of the park I always felt was a little disorganized unlike the rest of the park. Especially the random spot where the Frog Hopper is. It just seems out of place there. It gives me a good feeling when I see some smaller family flats being placed in such a big "thrill" park as CP. Gives me hope that someday maybe we shall see some more family oriented flats come to KI, because I know we all agree KI is desperately in need of some more flats. Not that Banshee isn't a much needed coaster for the park, but some day I'd love to see some more smaller rides put up to give that special quality a well rounded park has.
  7. I've been checking the weather every day and it looks like it will be favorable!
  8. I stuff everything into my cargo shorts...which really isn't much: cell phone, money and any other emergency items like Advil or what have you... My keys hang off my belt loop on a metal clip, On the note of people's stuff flying off rides...last time I was at Cedar Point, I took a very back seat ride on Millie for my first ride on it for the day, and nearly caught someone's hat... I was thinking how cool that would have been to catch it...but then I was irritated that anyone would be that senseless to wear a hat on a ride that is as high and fast as Millie...then again I see no point on wearing a hat on ANY ride because no matter how safe you think it might be, I can assure you that right gust of wind will prove it won't be!
  9. Well I am probably one of the few females out there wearing cargo shorts...I find them useful for carrying everything without having anything in my way or having to go put anything in a bin... I also sometimes I wear a hat or have my hair down and wavy...always have black hair...and I am short! And like most of you, I enjoy spewing coaster facts in line to anyone who strikes up a conversation in line lol I would love to meet some of you in person...seriously...it gets rather lonely not having too many enthusiast friends who share the same love of parks and coaster lore as I do
  10. I mean...we could have just gotten a plain white or primer gray coaster with just the name "Roller Coaster"....do I hear crickets?
  11. No brainer for me to renew my Platinum pass for next year. I feel I got my money's worth out of it so I feel I will next year too.
  12. I'm with most of you, I prefer Flight Deck over Iron Dragon, but honestly I love them both for different reasons. I love them both as we all already know, its a dying breed of coaster so I appreciate when I get a chance to ride one regardless of the speed, swings and layout. Like most of you, I love Flight Deck for the speed, the swinging and overall pacing of the ride. I know we all wish it was a bit longer and it has so much power and force left in it when it slams into the brakes at the end, but for what it is, when it hits those brakes I never hear anyone say anything negative other than they wish it were longer. Why? Because it looks tamer that what it actually is. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say "wow that was a lot more intense than I expected!" or something along those lines. Intense in a good way of course. Not scary, but packs a punch for what it is. Also I appreciate Flight Deck because it is historical as the last Arrow Suspended ever installed. Its a nice farewell to an era of the swinging suspended coaster. Iron Dragon, as we all know, is older and slower, but I believe it still gives a nice ride. I feel like its a nice relaxing ride to hop on after spending most of the day on all the bigger coasters and it always has a full train. People enjoy it. You get a nice little ride through the trees, a nice peek at TTD and yes, the finale over the lagoon is very fun. I also gotta say I love the name of the ride and the colors. It just pops. I hope this one does stick around longer as it is one of the few chill coasters Cedar Point has and its also one of the few that is great for families with smaller children to enjoy together and a great starter coaster for beginners. I will say the last trip I had to Cedar Point back on the 13th-15th I had a nice pre-evening ride on the Iron Dragon in the very last car and it offered a great little bump of airtime on the first drop. I was actually slightly surprised by that lol PS: I wish I had the chance to ride BBW. I don't know anyone who got the chance to ride it to ever say anything bad about that ride and I am sad that its gone. I always thought it looked like a lot of fun and just by the way everyone described it, it really was one of the best suspended coasters ever made.
  13. There need to be more feel good articles like this to read from the every day mundane and often outright depressing reads. Its good to read about local businesses working together to complete something benefiting everyone from the people who work on a project to the finished project with riders smiling and saying "what a great ride". Thank you for sharing this!
  14. Dying alone.... on a lighter note...pool drains...yes..pool drains...my toe was sucked into one as a child and luckily I got loose
  15. "Lights" by Journey That is one of my all time favorite songs and I actually sang it for my final in my college voice class last semester Also I've heard some Tom Petty tunes ( whom I also enjoy listening to ) "Free Falling" ( heard this while on Drop Zone..so perfect! ) and "Running Down A Dream" And The Doors "Break On Through" 10CC-"The Things We Do For Love"
  16. One thing I will say is that I surely hope that the restraints won't suffocate you like they do on Gatekeeper. When I was first locked into the seat, I found those newer restraints to be comfortable and tolerable, but by the time the ride was over, I was ready to get out ( and mind you I am rather small person so it just seems insane to me to feel so suffocated by a restraint) The restraint had tightened so much I couldn't wait to be let off the ride so I could breathe. This has happened to me every time I have ridden this coaster and I have seen others make the same look of relief when the OSTR is let up. Since I have been reading that Banshee will have similar type restraints as the Wing coasters ( correct me if I am wrong ) I just hope that won't be the deal with Banshee. Not that it will keep me off the ride at all, as it hasn't kept me off Gatekeeper, but it would be nice not to be squished by the end of an awesome ride lol
  17. I'm with most of you, really I would hate to see any more rides leave the park. If I just had to pick one though, it would be The Vortex. I really hope it continues to run strong for many more years and maybe get a special 30th anniversary commemorative type deal when the time comes( shirts, pendants, maybe a little cake like they've done for The Beast? ) I feel it deserves it as it is a guest favorite and it's been a hardy piece of machinery. I'd also have to say Flight Deck or Adventure Express. There is something just heart wrenching about losing any more classic Arrow coasters; especially a great suspended swinging coaster which we all know is becoming a dying breed and a fantastic mine train coaster which is still one of the best I've ever been on.
  18. I will probably be the lone lady here on this one, but I would love to see a Power Surge ride put in the park somewhere. If there was any possibility to have one on a larger scale for capacity's sake, I found this to be an enjoyable and fun ride as well as fun to watch too.
  19. I wish people would just be grateful we are at least getting another big coaster and that its actually well thought out and has some noteworthy specs. They could have just passed us over and left the land vacant for another few years with nothing new. I agree with there being a lot of hateful things being said on Facebook. Nothing is ever good enough for some! As for me, and as I've stated before, I'm grateful and am excited to get to the park on opening day next year to ride this beauty! It's a;ways a lot of fun to have something new to look forward to for the next season. Not to mention I love going the last day the park is open to take pictures of the construction. I still have old pics of Diamondback from the last day of the 2008 season when it wasn't even near completion. Really fun to look back at old pictures like that and then see the finished product on its opening day!
  20. If a re-theme did happen and since the walk back there is pretty long for such a short ride, I think the walk could be made more interesting with Bat theme related decor to help heighten the excitement for what lay ahead. Add some lighting effects for eve/night treks back there. I just see so much potential to liven up that area and help give such an underrated coaster a little love. Even if none of this happens, its still a lot of fun to use your imagination.
  21. I think a retheme would be really neat, but in reality I don't see that happening. Le sigh. On a side note, I gotta say this is going to be pretty wild having an old Arrow Suspended coaster nearby a brand new B&M invert. Two generations of suspended type coasters from different times and designers sitting pretty close to one another. This will be a unique sight!
  22. All I can say is I am really grateful the park is finally getting an invert!!! I absolutely LOVE me a B&M invert and have always wished there was one at a park closer to me than Cedar Point or SFGA. Now that wish has come true with Banshee! Love everything I am seeing and reading right now! I also love the colors. I know someone had already mentioned that, but I really feel like this coaster will greatly liven up such a dead section of the park! I also hope they do not fill the tracks with sand and let tha baby roar like a Beemer should! ( but I doubt they will let it kick up some noise...I gotta say thats one of my favorite things about Raptor at CP, is that wonderful roar that lets you know it means business!) Next year cannot come fast enough! I will be there rain or shine!
  23. Thank you CoasterGeek101 for streaming the action! I watched it and I am stoked for the new ride! I will also say I am a little shocked they actually decided to go with the Banshee name, but I dig it. I also dig the renderings I've seen on the main website and the colorscheme too. That will really add some color to the area!
  24. I love MaXair for all the reasons most of you have mentioned. But I do have a soft spot for Delirium. It reminds me so much of my young teenage -hood. I was 14 when it opened and it reminds me of my early years as a park enthusiast. I often miss those days. And I miss those days of Kings Island.
