It would be nice if pass perks were awarded based off of in park spending.

I made a short visit tonight after work and I gotta say the park looks great! Just a few details I’ve noticed so far, good and bad. The Mac & Cheese bar was great. The only thing left missing is if there was a way I could broil / bake the bowl of Mac & Cheese once assembled. It would be a nice option to melt that additional cheese on top. They reused some of the structures from haunt which are fitting and honestly smart in my opinion. Some of the lighting decorations seemed a bit cheap and could probably be retired, but they ain’t doing any good in storage so why not display them? Lol The train was not was playing the 12 days of Christmas song. The out of sync music was replaced with classic Christmas music. Definitely a step in the right direction, however the lighting decorations along the route still leaves much to be desired. The Parade was lively, the floats looked great and the entertainers / dancers interacted with the crowd. One thing I noticed was the parade would sometimes get into a traffic jam. For example there is a person walking backwards guiding the parade float driver and they would end up in the middle of the performers walkings. So basically there would be a person who stuck out like a sore thumb doing nothing but giving what looked like the field goal signal in the middle of a group of dancers lol. Also the regular hot chocolate at Kings Island does not include any toppings unless you’re willing to spend an additional $1.29 for whipped cream. This is contrary to Kings Island’s sister park Kings Dominion which gives you the option of a whipped cream topping, free of charge. The whipped cream although a minor detail makes a significant difference in quality and taste.

I agree with you. Also welcome to KIC! -
Well, Kings Island is one of the only parks in the chain in my experience that will nickel and dime you over house sauce. So this isn’t surprising.

The winter buffet at the International Restaurant will be open November 24-26th, and December 18th-29th. Cost is $35.95 for adults and $17.99 for kids ages 9 and under. Thank you Daniel.

Maybe you were blocked. -
The park is kind enough to provide us make up days for the days we lost with Cargo Loco and Sol Spin not opening on time.

Honestly, I think it’s just harder to see what’s different on the list because there isn’t an asterisk or special marker to signify it’s a holiday special option. I missed out on quite a few seasonal and monthly specials because of it. With only finding knowledge on those via here or I had the luck of seeing it while walking by. The video posted with the menu reveal makes it much clearer to see on what specials are available for Winterfest.

That’s how it was at KD and BGW. Not many holiday options other than the standard holiday food: turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc. There was a decent amount of options at both parks when it came down to snacks and sweets tho. I wish they would post the dates and times for the winter buffet at the International Restaurant which isn’t even listed on here.

First trip to KD’s Winterfest and BGW Christmas Town. Day 1 Winterfest: Arrived in Doswell Sunday night at rope drop. Upon entry I noticed how much less grand international street appeared compared to the sister park Kings Island. It wasn’t much because there was less decorations but because the decorations and lighting on the buildings are obscured from view due to the large trees along the fountain. After taking in what was viewable from international street I made my way to handle the first order of business, dinner. In doing so I encountered the longest line at the park for the night at Firehouse BBQ. They offered their take on a Christmas Platter with a variety of options for protein. As usual I couldn’t say no to brisket. I got my plate and was surprised by how generous the portions were. The food was good and after loosening my belt buckle by a couple notches I made my way to my first ride of the night, Twisted Timbers. The lineup for coasters was few but was expected being that it is Winterfest. The other coasters being available were Dominator and Apple Zapple. After a couple cold rides I ended up taking a break with a hot chocolate or should I say hot water with chocolate flavoring. Although they did add complementary whip cream upon request. Which helped lessen the cheapness of the beverage. Afterwards it got my fix on nostalgia with riding the Diet Coke of Flying Eagles, and Antique Cars. The Antique Cars route was themed 12 days of Christmas with identical props and lights. I was actually a bit hyped for this being that now I’d have the control of the speed of the ride and with that ability be able to sync the lights and the music. This was short lived being that I got an OG car that was loud, and the kid behind me road my tail. It was good idea in thought but I digress. All in all I was impressed with decorations and lighting throughout the opened sections of the park. Although the large trees hindered viewing from international street, they did take advantage decorating abundance of large trees throughout the park. Which was really nice. Day 2 Christmas Town: As usual I arrived at rope drop at BGW. What surprised me was how much busier this park was for a weekday compared to KD the night before. Made my way to what normally is the longest line at the park being Darkoaster. BGW had the entire park opened, with only 3 of there coasters not running: Griffon, Apollos Chariot, and Tempesto. I was amazed by this being that BGW is only an hour away from KD, so the weather change wasn’t very different. Being how busy the park was I didn’t make much time to watch any shows, and mainly focused on riding rides and taking in the decorations around the park. Decorations was the most disappointing thing about Christmas Town. The towns were decently decorated but the main decoration they used around the park is a 4 foot tall tree with lights on it. They littered the park with them, however the shops were nicely done. Another disappointment was the train ride, there was very boring decorative lightning around the track, outside of those 4 foot tall Christmas trees. They did have heated party tents set up with tables inside for people to eat, which was nice. I finished my night doing a marathon on Darkoaster being it only had a 10minute wait. In summary, I thought KD had better Christmas Decor than BGW, yet the ride lineup was much better at BGW.

Regardless of the shortening of hours and days of operation. I’ll be getting more than my moneys worth out of the 2024 season pass. A lot of people here can probably say the same. Also to keep things in perspective: Dollywood Silver pass = $159 waterpark not included. Busch Gardens Williamsburg Basic 1 park pass = $165 waterpark not included. Kings Island Gold Pass = $130 Waterpark included. Holiday World Season Pass = $165 w/ unlimited drinks. Not to mention BGW’s Basic Pass and Dollywood’s Silver Pass have blackout dates.
