Coney mall / x-base (maybe we will see x base finally become its own section of park. ) or the removal of the adventure exoress with octoberfest to get a new coaster, if they don't plan on doing too much they could always re-use the old Sob station and build a lifthill overtop Banshee and use the remaining land behind Banshee.. ( Intamin giga anybody? )... I know don has talked about the station being used for haunt indefinitely but they will go threw all options with the 5 year plan they know they will be doing a coaster but they don't know where and what coaster they are building till about 2 years prior of the coaster being built.. Other than that i don't see anywhere they could put one without removing something.

Photos Now UP! - Cedar Point Thursday/Friday 22nd/23rd
Tr0y replied to Ki Man's topic in Trip Reports
I was at CP 21st and 22nd, everything was less than a 20 minute wait except for maverick. I like Gatekeeper the new main entrance and being able to see the beach more is great, that area seems less cluttered than it was with space spiral and disaster transport.. I'd have to say my favorite spot is back row, left side, outside seat.. My favorite part of the ride has to be the wing over drop into the Immelmann loop after the MCBR the ride becomes boring. I haven't had issues with shuffling on Gatekeeper its more noticeable on Diamondback for me its not an issue i don't consider the shuffling rough... I do and don't like the new restraints, i like fact there is no head banging, like raptor. But the restraints are very uncomfortable on the collarbones. Therefor i hardly do back to back riding... -
I was in a stage where I thought that Cedar Fair cared only about Cedar Point. However, now as I'm getting older, I'm starting to understand that they have 12 parks that they own and every decision that is made is made with all the parks in mind. they don't want any park to hurt the flagship park Cedar Point, that's why Michigan's adventure will never flourish, probably why geauge lake was closed so it wouldn't take from Cedar Point... Kings Island in my opinion has more potential than CP, its currently at par in terms of attendance. but if Kings Island was to become a better park nobody would bother traveling farther up to CP. Cedar Fair didn't have any Issues investing 28 million dollars for leviathan in Canada's wonderland. The greater Cincinnati area is a better market than greater sandusky..

I don't have issues with any restraints at Kings Island. i agree with kat that The Racer is rougher than The Beast. Its like stapling a jackhammer to your back turned on while trying to sit down on concrete. I tolerate it (giving the fact its a wooden coaster. ) but The Racer could use some track work and a coat of paint.

I didn't mean full blown Disney I'm talking like something the crypt used to be

Cedar Fair doesn't have $100 million to blow on one park in a single season. 24 million for 2014 plus 6-7 million for 2015 equals 100 million.. Dang operating cost this 2015 attraction must be a intamin.

Any coaster that's not built by Intamin is a disappointment for Youngstud.. I on the other hand like all manufacturers it has nothing to deal with it being B&M. A Variety of coaster manufactures and coasters types in a park is great! each manufacture brings something different to the table. B&M offers great reliability, and smoothness.. They wanted to set Banshee at par with Son of Beast as a replacement when they didn't even bring Banshee up to Sob level. One record breaking coaster to replace a coaster that broke and held multiple records? If you pop all four tires do you only replace one of them? Now your all going to give me crap about ride experience matters and stuff.. i get that, and yes it matters but i don't see how being taller and having more loops would be negative at all. They could have spend the extra 3 million for a extra loop and 30ft of more height. and got more out of the coaster, especially for the amount of revenue you would make from people drawn in, it would pay for itself. And they could afford it, Cedar Point got a hefty 30 million dollar Gatekeeper and Canada's wonderland got a 28 million dollar leviathan.

With Matt ouimet's background with Disney its a possibility we could see winterfest make a comeback in a couple of years. As long as people want it, and there is money to be made it will happen. With Cedar Fairs recent record breaking profits it wouldn't suprise me if they give winterfest a try.

The 2015 coaster could be the dark ride, Matt Ouimet was talking about, it won't be a very expensive coaster I'd day 6-7 million possibly using the old crypt building i could see a small coaster fit. It could end up being the coaster Matt ouimet was talking about the whole family can enjoy... Maybe this will be the ride that gets Disney like theming.

really? what explains all the criticism when the name was first to be used for what is now mantis? If we renamed meanstreak to spine buster do you think that more people will like it? If somebody dies on this coaster regardless if it was the rides fault or not there will be outcry because of the name.

holiday world selling train and no timberliners
Tr0y replied to YoungStud's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
i don't think so, its not dick kenzel anymore running Cedar Fairs. Matt Ouimet stated each park was its own brand, the things you see now at holiday world would probably be the same, except more capital being invested into the park, and great ideas from the other Cedar Fair parks transferring over. -
Wait so you can see into the future?Witchcraft, burn it, burn it with fire. Don't have to look into the future, it would just explain why there is now a Banshee at Kings Island. Is everyone else just as confused with what seems to be Tr0y's logic as I am, or is it just me?Did you watch the video interview about Banshee in the construction thread that I had with Don? He stated that there would have been a major coaster coming to KI in 2014 regardless of SOB's fate. Wait Logic, that made me Crack up. and it seems as if everyone forgot what a Banshee is. a Banshee appears before death, the coaster itself is a b&m so therefor the next death for b&m will be on Banshee. Son of Beast fate was decided back in 2009 after the incident it went SBNO it was the state inspected it and deemed operating normally that day so why close it? Nothing personal against Don but i don't believe everything he says. he's the PR manager, he's going to tell you what they want you to hear.

Move One Ride from Anywhere in the Country to KI
Tr0y replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Coming Attractions
Millenium force to KI the future is riding on it... -
that's likely but with the amount of money Cedar Fair has been spending on canadas wonderland, ( Canada's wonderland has the highest revenue and attendance in the chain ) I'm curious if matt ouimet is using a system where the parks revenue equates to how much investment is spent for attractions. Cedar Point's Gatekeeper was 25-30 million seems like alot for one coaster but the last coaster built at Cedar Point since Gatekeeper was maverick in 2007.
-
Kings Island is a few pieces from putting Cedar Point in the backseat, they are neck and neck in terms of revenue and attendance.

Nope here is a picture from when i was there yesterday, it was sunny millennium force was a 15 minute wait. -
it won't be able to, the giga coaster's line to the midway will be in the way.

The El toro is a very reliable coaster, it has been operating for 7 years and is just now having a significant mechanical problem, also you got to remember it was the first and only wooden to have a cable lift.. Once Banshee is built and a few years after when Kings Island prepares for its next coaster addition, not many will remember SOB at that point, it will just be another gravestone alongside The Bat, screaming demon, and king cobra...
