I had not been there before until today. It is a nice little park. It's kind of "weird" seeing ride ops smoking cigarettes or eating while operating rides.

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
LoraX replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
A lone trip to Conneaut will be ok. There are a handful of flats and Blue Streak. I am actually hoping to make another trip there before their season ends just to ride Blue Streak. There is something absolutely wonderful about that coaster. It's old and rickety, but fun. Waldameer is a park I love. My fave woodie is there. I wholeheartedly think if you can go there, you need to go. -
Looks like we are going to KI this afternoon. We are probably going to go through Dino's After Dark since we've not done that yet. Hoping to see the 7:00 show for Cirque.
-
We were there tonight about the same time you were. We waited for FoF only because my daughter loves it. We had considered getting out of line, but it was a much shorter line than many times we have been so far this season.
-
We are here. 10 min for Beast. Maybe 15 for BLSC. we normally don't ride this due to lines so it's a rough estimate. Yep. I was close. Next train. Edited a time or two.

The company I work for is a mechanical company that repairs pretty much anything in a restaurant. It would sicken you if you knew the amount of calls I take with mold and other things in the lines of a fountain machine and/or ice machine. It's disgusting. If you carry the cups around the park, touch the rails, undo the straw and put it in your mouth, it's filthy dirty. You leave the cup in a bin, with other peoples items, disgusting. There is a chance that you pick up someone else's cup and not realize it is pretty gnarly, too. I do want to add, I have no knowledge of what Kings Islands maintenance is on their fountain machines and ice machines. I can presume the majority of stands that have drinks empty out their ice bins nightly. That should cut down on some of the "issues" some companies face. .

They stop running The Beast at 9:45. They still allow people access into the queue line until 10:00. At 10:00 they block access into the line. Once the fireworks stop. It takes 10-20 minutes for the all clear to be given after the fireworks have ended. There have been times we have not left until 11:00 or after if we wait for last train, which we normally do this season much more frequently than other seasons. Chick-Fil-A's policy is they do not ever open on Sunday. It is this way in every CFA nationwide, not just at Kings Island. You can purchase liquor in Indiana if you go to a restaurant that serves prepared food except for Election Days until 6:00 pm. I think there are other events that permit liquor purchases in Indiana on Sunday (like the Indy 500.). Even though I spend nearly as much non working, awake time in Ohio as I do in Indiana I do not know Ohio laws on liquor sales. I thought it could be purchased in the park on Sundays at Red's HOF Grille and maybe a few other places. I witnessed a ride op not allowing someone with a cup of beer in a queue. I don't know if it's park policy to not allow that or Ohio state law. I am not sure the CFA / Indiana portion of your comment/question is being missed. If there was something connecting the three we are not seeing, please let us know.

^ After you told is that, we had the same results. Too bad you can't request that specific one each time. We compete every time we ride. Last time I stomped Princess Sparkles and her "crush" twice. (They were trying to keep each other from hitting targets while I happily was left alone to win.) Next trip we will have to compete.

Cedar Fair Quarter Two Results
LoraX replied to thedevariouseffect's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This is where I would become creative with things like Fast Lane Passes or Front of the Line type passes. I know people on here have mixed emotions on Fast Lane, but aside from the cost of the bands and staffing, everything is profit. I do think they need to do better on some rides to split the % of Fast Lane with non Fast Lane per ride. Let those who can afford to spend, spend liberally. Adding additional options like $5 option for one chance to go to the front of the line could add up. Many people cannot afford to drop the big money on Fast Lane, but could easily afford a ride or two to go to the front of the line. They give you the opportunity to spin or play Plinko for a chance to win it, why not $5 to get it for sure. Prices could fluctuate upon demand just like Xtreme Skyflier or Slingshot. I am sure there are other things than can generate more revenue for those who only go once or twice a season that those who go frequently would not spend. Not that I think they should necessarily pay more, but they are the ones more likely to spend a little extra. Discount at the gate, but recouping the cost in the park with something that's a deal to them might add up. Perhaps they already do this, I do not pay attention to it too much since my daughter and I would not be the target audience since we go frequently. -
McSalsa's Coaster Adventures: Indiana State Fair 2014
LoraX replied to McSalsa's topic in Trip Reports
We need to head out to the fair so I can ride Crazy Mouse. I am sure I have rode it at some point, because we go most years, but don't recall riding it. I love Wild Mouse coasters, especially if they spin. We might go next Tuesday. Thanks for the trip report. -
I wonder if there is one target set incorrectly. We've had it happen multiple times. In asking Princess Sparkles (The Princess of Boo Hill) she said she thinks she knows which one it is, or at least has it narrowed down to a couple of targets.

Totally 80s store not everything is from the 80s
LoraX replied to kingsislandfan1972's topic in Kings Island
Maybe some of the focus for people totally in their '80's? -
So the teacher from Peanuts was your tour guide?

Great trip report! You always do a wonderful job on your trip reports. I wish I could put in the detailed descriptions like you do. I suppose I could, I just don't take the time. Thank you for taking the time. We rode Zumanjaro the day it opened and absolutely loved it. We had the privilege to ride at night during the July 4th fireworks which was breathtaking. I love Ka. TTD is the only coaster I've not ridden at CP. Once it was shut down due to weather another time (Coastermania) it was just down. I did not get to ride Superman Ultimate Flight or Green Lantern (we waited a longer time than expected for Zumanjaro.). I really wanted to ride Green Lantern. I loved it as Chang.

45 min for The Beast. Hoping to make the 5:00 Cirque show and not have to stand this time.

If I wasn't already shaven and I didn't have to work my 5th double in a row, I would have loved to do it!I have a friend who did it. She won't post a pic of her head though. Tell your friend that I think she's awesome. I wondered how many women shaved their heads. As a woman it's got to be difficult to do.

I wish I could copy the link. If you're at Kings Island you ought to go now. -
One of my friends has two autistic sons. One is high functioning. I know each child is different, but the high functioning autistic son would struggle to go on a trip if he was not prepared to go. He does really well as long as he's on a schedule and in a familiar setting. I don't see him riding a coaster on his own. He would have an anxiety attack. Additionally this young man would struggle with talking to someone he does not know even if he was injured. If a person approached him, he'd likely walk away. If his mom would put him on a coaster alone, she would have waited at the gate for him. Maybe the child who was injured is higher functioning than my friends son.

I wish you could respond to polls from mobile. Devan is right. Girls do like Trevor.

Welcome to KIC. Thank you for sharing. I remember when I spent time in kiddie land more than the big kids park. I think I heard a choir of angels breaking out in the Hallelujah chorus once Princess Sparkles was tall enough to ride "big kid" coasters. What a joyous occasion! From the time she turned 3, she would cry to ride the big kids rides (her brother and two family friends were 6-8 years older than her.) She may not love every ride, but more times than not she will try any coaster or flat. It's a wonderful thing when you can spend time with your child doing something you both enjoy. Such a great way to create memories.
