  1. I never rode KC. I was old enough, had plenty of opportunities, but for whatever reason, a standing rollercoaster intimidated me as a child and it was removed during a period where I rarely went to KI.
  2. Sadly, these days the area feels more like a continuation of International Street than its own section of the park, so I think there's a good chance that when AZ does get re-themed, it will be something new and Oktoberfest will remain as it is or completely dissolve into IS.
  3. With this being its own thread, it'll be pretty easy to reference when that "conspiracy" talks kicks back in.
  4. Racer looked so much better without them. I feel like I've asked this before, but why were they added?
  5. I always enjoy reading your stories. The best discussions here are about the park's history. When I first joined, there were active threads on historical photos, defunct rides, and lingering remnants. I'd love to see a little bit more of that around here again.
  6. Did you not read Malem's post all the way through? I look at this way. Going somewhere public, you are asked to follow some rules. No smoking, no pets, must wear proper clothing and footwear, etc. Even though you have an Open Carry license, you can't carry your guns into certain establishments. A public forum is no different. The site has asked us not to post certain kinds of photos and videos regardless of whether or not it's illegal to do so.
  7. I don't see FOF needing its extended queue forever, but it will this season. It will clean things up a bit. The addition of a major ride brings extra foot traffic to that area. Orion's line will be really long and the park probably doesn't want any chance of FOF's line bleeding into it. Also, I can see how two lines stretching out into Coney Mall would look bad and potentially cause confusion for some guests, particularly those less familiar with the park's layout.
  8. They may be trying to keep those lines from bleeding together. Having said that, FOF's lines move at a snail's pace. I'd hate to be there when it's spilling into the extended queue.
  9. Could it be the light playing tricks on us? The upper half of the image is brighter and DB's red "fades" as you follow the track up.
  10. IIRC, the Cauldron ride and dolphin show were removed during this time. Maybe another HB-themed ride or two, as well?
  11. Isn't that the Paramount years? I'm trying to think of major rides (apart from Screamin' Demon) that were removed between 1987 and 1992 (AFC's ownership).
  12. I don't remember those years very well, was it the overall atmosphere of the park (cleanliness, maintenance, etc.) that was bad or attendance/profit?
  13. Personally, I hope The Bat is around for many more years to come.
  14. May I ask for clarification, what part of SOB was the "rose bowl?" Was that the first helix?
  15. I've always heard those dips referred to as "bunny hills."
  16. I remember seeing The Beach Boys there. I haven't seen a show since the very early 90s. Spirit Song, which keeps the amphitheater on life support, isn't really my thing. It'd be nice if they'd book at least one other type music festival, something more metal, punk, or heck even country. But definitely metal, punk, or indie rock. (Honestly, if it were up to me, Timberwolf would book the likes John Williams, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and Michael Giacchino, but the chances of that in a midwestern amusement park...) I wonder if Timberwolf will still be here in 2030.
  17. That could be the Saloon. It's closed after High Noon on the account of a gunfight.
  18. I would've made an exception in this case, as its Victorian aesthetic is almost perfect for a permanent Haunt attraction. But that plot is bound to be used for something down the road, so they would've most likely demolished it anyway.
  19. I apologize for not saying "call the park for more information." Someone else did, so what's the harm? Sometimes people don't think to say certain things. It's really not that big of a deal.
  20. I've only been to WF twice, briefly, since CF brought it back. I simply haven't noticed the volunteers. The most detailed post about it was from 2005 (the second most came several days after I posted), I tried to find information on it but didn't, and answered with honest doubt (hence the question mark and the word "maybe"), so I could do without the condescending dots. Please understand that not everyone here is as knowledgeable on every single tiny aspect of the park's operations nor are able to make it the park as often as others. In fact, during Winter 2018, my family was still dealing with the passing of my father and this winter, we are dealing with something easily as dire. On top of that, it's just a really busy time of the year and the park is open far less often. Even without a crisis, it's a miracle whenever I make it to Haunt or Winterfest anymore. Also, the user who inquired on the program is new, with only 2 posts. How do we know they are a "random enthusiast" and not part of a group that's interested in volunteering for the park?
  21. This may be a shock, but the internet and Kings Island have been around for decades.
  22. To be fair, it is a river ride near a Rivertown.
  23. Man, if there was one building that would've been perfect for a permanent Haunt attraction....
  24. I can't seem to find any information on it. This thread is 15 years old, back when KI was still PKI. Maybe the park doesn't offer this program anymore?
