Flight of Fear the good bad and the ugly
Joshua replied to Kingsislandfanboy2017's topic in Kings Island
One word: art. -
Although it's been so long, I remember liking KCKC more than RFYLCB. Plus, I hate that we lost a genuine river ride in Rivertown.

Flight of Fear the good bad and the ugly

I enjoy the ride itself, but I don't ride it often due to the slow loading times. I think a big part of that is how they now rope you off in the flying saucer. As far as the queue video goes, I think they should just lean into it and go full b-movie. Make it black and white. -
They're also building the station. Maybe there's a hidden element they want to keep as a surprise?

The big allure to Winterfest is being a romantic date night/family outing atmosphere with the decorations, activities, ice skating, and hot chocolate. It's fun to add a coaster to the mix, but I only consider it a plus.

Perhaps someone should start a support group for webcam withdrawals.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
Joshua replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
^I took a similar picture this year with the Red Racer going down its hill from that view. Another reason why I'd hate to lose that station. -
So they ditched the scary music altogether? Bummer.
-
A lot of people have mentioned new music. I'm curious, did they still play clips from movie scores (Poltergeist, Beetlejuice, A Nightmare on Elm Street, etc.) or did they completely change out the music?
-
I feel like that is the most likely case. Two birds with the same stone.

I think it's someone who has proven their knowledge and resources regarding the park/industry as a whole. For me, the moment I saw that the information came from Shaggy, I immediately stopped doubting it. He may be the definition of "earned credibility." Brown actually did quote Shaggy's post when he made the viagra joke. I myself missed it. Looks like others did, as well.
-
On the subject of sources, linking back to Shaggy's original post would've helped the conversation considerably. I myself thought someone had stated the same company that is building Orion is tearing down Vortex, but couldn't remember who said it or where I saw that. Quoting that original post would've gone a long way. While I don't think every single thing should require sources, in an age where nearly everyone thinks they're an expert and both information and misinformation come at you so quick, often the most efficient way to tell the difference between what is reliable and what isn't is the source.
-
If only..... However, I would like to see the station re-used. Its victorian facade is perfection. Unfortunately, as Shaggy said, there is the issue of wheelchair access. But that isn't to say they couldn't redesign it. I was also thinking maybe one of the cars could be displayed somewhere in the park.
-
I'd like to see the park could keep a piece of the ride to commemorate its history at the park.
-
Then that makes your statement an opinion, not a fact like your post suggests.
-
May I see a source backing up this information?
-
Maybe the Rivertown Freestyle was open and they didn't want us to see it?
-
I haven't been this year. I know in the past they've used "FBI Secret Vaults" by Mark Snow (from the closing moments of The X-Files' pilot episode) prominently throughout Haunt and IIRC, I think I've heard it during opening ceremonies in previous years. But I could be wrong.

With all of its problems this season alone, I've been worrying about its longevity at the park. Will it make it to 30 years like Vortex did?
-
I mean, yeah if you're standing right under a coaster, it will usually look bigger than another on the other side of the park. Notice how DB looks bigger than those cranes, which we know are far taller.

Please guys, on both sides of the argument, I mean this respectfully.. If you really want the forum to be like old times, stop shaming newer members for not being like former members. Stop trying to control other people's responses and opinions. Stop telling people that if they don't like it to get out. Most of all, please just stop adding to the discourse. This isn't healthy. If you want things to change, set an example. Be the member you want other members to be. Joshua, who just wants people to have fun and enjoy the webcams while also not caring at all about the webcams himself.
-
People coming into threads, calling out other members, and whining about how the forum used to be better is not only making things worse, but also doing the very thing you're complaining about. The more we talk about how fun things used to be, the less fun we'll have now.

At first I read this with Evil Knievel and thought, man you're in 60s?
-
I think this is what it is. I don't think it has much to do with ridership or the park wanting to remove "eye soars" (i.e. the Paramount years).
-
I'm kinda wishing this was still a thing.
