  1. First off, I am not going to make a huge report of the 3 days that we spent at Cedar Point. 1st day, we arrive at Hotel Breakers to pick up our tickets to begin our day. I haven't been since the renovations completed I believe 2 years ago. I must say, the change is very drastic and nothing short of amazing. Oddly enough, after being there for a day, I came to realize that I was in the same exact room I had stayed in previously, probably 10 years or more ago. The hotel staff was extremely polite, courteous, informational, and quick to get us on our way. I was also delighted that they now send you a text whenever your room is ready. Had one major hiccup, which was the key fob to my car being tossed out on one of their coasters. Thankfully it happened on the first day, so the people we called were able to break in the car and program a new key within an hour. So, it was an exciting year as my son is now 53 1/2", so 5 new coasters to ride this summer. We walked in the Magnum gate and it was not running at that moment, so we went right over to Dragster. Wound up riding it 6 times in 3 days. The weather was spectacular all 3 days. First and last were overcast, which was like having a Fast Lane for the day and a half we didn't have one. Trey (my son) absolutely loved it and was not even the least bit nervous. We got to ride everything we wanted to including my first time on Valravn. I had never been on a dive coaster before and I will be the first to admit, I was completely wrong about this style of coaster. Highly thrilling. We did manage to get in 3 rides on Steel Vengeance in those three days, although not until the 2nd and 3rd day. By the time we waited to ride it on the first night, we had waited an hour and a half. We get to the top of the stairs and it closed due to maintenance issues for the night. They left Millennium Force open for anyone who wanted to go ride that, but I was in no mood to walk that far and then have to walk all the way around back to the hotel. When we did get to finally ride, I instantly said in the brake run that SV is easily the best coaster in the park. It's really THAT good. On the 2nd day when we used our FL, we also had food and drink wristbands for the day. I must admit, I am not sure if we saved any money by including it in our hotel package, but the convenience of having pre-paid it was worth it alone. All in all, a great time was had by all 3 of us. We purchased 9 on-ride photos and one gate photo. Also found a coasterdynamix nano coaster that I bought Trey. Easy to put together, but ran about $35. We all 3 bought t-shirts as well. Trey loved all of the new coasters he was able to ride. He loved Maverick especially.
  2. This is exactly what I do; get my kid measured first thing, then there's no issue as to what he rides. He's borderline 54" as of right now and we are heading to Cedar Point this Wednesday. I told him not to walk in with the expectation that he will be measured at 54". If he his, then great. If not, there are still a ton of rides to do and 5 new coasters he can ride.
  3. @chugh43, I certainly hope it was nothing as trivial as retrieving sunglasses. Sometimes, you just gotta let things go. @gforce1994, I'm not sure he was in the way of moving machinery. The ride could have been between cycles. Still not clear HOW he was pinned.
  4. @gforce1994, that is the one. I haven't heard exactly how he was pinned under there or what he was doing under the ride. Of course, he could have been under there for any number of reasons depending on his position with Camden.
  5. Nevermind, I was thinking Lightning Rod at Dollywood, not Lightning Run.
  6. Not to sound like Captain Obvious, but if Lightning Run had a similar issue, then you think the design would change up since the same issue has come up before and a change was made. Does this seem too obvious?
  7. Wow, this is not good at all. I love Camden, but if that is what happened, it's hard to defend that.
  8. You know, I never thought about that. The tickets were included with the room, so I am not sure if you can convert those to season passes because I would surely like to hit up KI as well. I'm going to contact them about that.
  9. So, I have booked my trip for Cedar Point this year. I am staying at the Hotel Breakers (haven't stayed there since the renovation) for 2 nights. For 2 days, we are doing the main park and on the last day, we are doing Cedar Point Shores. As I was checking out, I was offered Fast Lane passes and food/drink add on to my reservation. I bought one for one day, which we will use on the 2nd day. It includes 3 FL Plus passes, food/drink wristbands for 3, Fun Pix and you can also do the Dinosaurs Alive attraction (which we have no interest in). Total cost is $1400 and that is basically for everything. We just have to buy food and drinks for the other two days. I feel like it's a really good deal for us. We will be there 6/27-29. Decided to go during the week this year.
  10. I think the Spongebob car wash ride would have happened. I'm thinking it was a water coaster type of ride? Can't really remember. I am not sure the Diamondback or Banshee would not have been built. SOB was built in the Paramount era, so they were not adverse to building huge coasters.
  11. For the record, I don't think either is the deciding factor. What IS the deciding factor is ridership. Mean Streak got the RMC treatment because ridership had really fallen. The Beast doesn't seem to share the same problem. I'm guessing (and I could be wrong) that ridership for the Hurler was severely down.
  12. I don't want to see a front gate coaster, but just maybe a makeover in terms of a bit more of a renewal as opposed to a complete change.
  13. Then what is? Mystic Timbers deserves best new ride of 2017.
  14. I rode each type. My first was King Kobra at KI. When it was a new concept, it was really cool at the time. Pretty good ride. Then I got a chance to ride Mantis and was pleased with how much more they did with the design. I always felt it was a smoother ride than KK. I really don't forsee any new ones being built as it was a fad and has now faded.
  15. Even with employers these days, tats are not as big of a deal as they were 30 years ago.
  16. This is a great family addition to the park. For me, it's something like this that is likely to draw me in for the first time. Yes, my family loves coasters, but we also love other things we can all do together. We enjoy a variety of attractions.
  17. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/story/201711190010 Awesome article on the history of the Magnum XL200 at Cedar Point. A lot of interesting information in there. I will only point out my favorite. Magnum ran without trim brakes in the beginning. Also Kinzel's memories of opening day and the importance in coaster history.
  18. People don't like waiting in line for line eating coasters like Millennium Force, yet they do. You can always get Fast Lane if it bothers you that much.
  19. As a dad, my favorite moment, hands down, is any ride I get to ride and enjoy with my family. It's so much fun to see the enjoyment from my kid. Reminds me of my parents taking me as a kid. It always seemed like, once you entered the gates, there was just some kind of magic going on. Now, I get to share that with him and my fiance' as well. Until we went last year, she hadn't been since high school. which would have been like 1995. As a family, our favorite coaster is the legendary Beast. We all agree a night time ride just cannot be beat. Mystic Timbers is a close 2nd though. Our favorite flat is Shake, Ratlle, & Roll. We are looking forward to next summer as he will be 52", which opens up some new rides for him (although, it's a lot of new rides at Cedar Point).
  20. That may be true, but you are referencing a handful of people you know, compared to the millions that go through the gate every season.
  21. The coaster enthusiast community here may complain about the capacity on Firehawk, but what does the General Public say? That is far more important as the coaster community makes up less than .000001% of all customers through the gate.
  22. This is exactly what I was thinking. Make paving the parking lot a multi year project. You wouldn't have to put out all the money for it all at once. As a matter of fact, they should start this off-season, since no major capital project appears to be happening this year, other than a new restaurant.
  23. Yeah, the old glockenspiel needs to make a comeback. As a kid, I always thought it was really cool. Still think KI could add a Tilt-A-Whirl somewhere in the park. Not sure if it could be placed anywhere in Planet Snoopy, but it would fit in there.
  24. XBase really would be much cooler if they put in a collection of flat rides over there. It would draw attention to that area, increasing foot traffic, thereby increasing traffic for FOF and Firehawk. Not to mention, the much needed bathrooms in that area of the park. You could also add some food offerings in there.
