Steel Vengeance to open in 2018 at Cedar Point
I was saying December just because of the Christmas comment. Not being literal. Guess that was lost in translation. Anyhoo, I ain't gettin' up in arms about it.

Is this Kings Islands 2018 ride?
I think you guys could be right. However, if one of these is added, I won't be too mad.

Steel Vengeance to open in 2018 at Cedar Point
If they think it could be testing in December, then I would go with that. This project has gone on well long enough to have the trains ready by then.

What will replace Dinos Alive?
What ultimately is the driving factor is what will bring people through the gates to spend money. It could be a giga. It could be something for the families who spend waaaayyyy more than the enthusiast crowd. I am not against a giga at all, as evidenced by my previous posts (at least those who know me). I would love to see an Intamin giga at that. Anyway, the bottom line is, what will increase CF's bottom line.

Family injured in attack at Six Flags Great America; 9 suspects arrested
That makes the most sense Shaggy. Let the park employees monitor the situation and security deal with the unruly guests.

Another incident involoving Dragster!
To me, the pictures in the first post do not indicate anything out of the ordinary. That could be some inspecting going on by the maintenance crew there.

Closure of Dinosaurs Alive and opening of lots of land.
Personally, if it is at all feasible, I would love to see a giga come to KI. Wonder if RMC would use their TRex track to go that high? Not sure how willing they are to push the envelope with their coasters? That would provide KI with a unique giga not found at any CF park. Just some interesting speculation from me.

Another incident involoving Dragster!
Oddly enough, I am finding no news of a TTD accident on any site other than this one. No link to any articles. No news report either, which is strange as the media usually jumps on this kind of thing. Nothing on Screamscape or Coasterbuzz or any mention of it on Cedar Point's web site. No disrespect, but just curious as to why this is unreported as of now. When I click on the pic in the quote, it takes me to a web page. When I click on the thread about TTD, it comes up as unavailable. Edit** The only place I can find any information is on Pointbuzz, and folks there are a bit skeptical about the validity of the claim. However, some have said they saw maintenance men working on the track.

Which RMC?
I chose ground up and TRex/Raptor track. These coasters look really cool. Could be a replacement for Vortex, although I still have a lot of love for that ride.

Cedar Fair Renews Peanuts License
Oh yeah, the old boulder bumpers. Loved that ride.

Traumatized by Flight of Fear & also how are Saturday crowds in October?
I have never had a problem with fear of launches, but I have had a fear of coasters when I was younger. I would not ride The Beast when it opened. The only thing I can figure is just the name was intimidating alone. Once I did ride, I was literally hooked for life. Still my all time favorite night time ride at the Island. Also, fear used to really grip me when I was riding The Vortex. The slow trip up the chain lift was always filled with dread knowing that a huge drop awaited me. Plus, that drop always gave me a feeling in my gut that has not been matched since. The only thing that helped in the fear was riding with my mom. By the time FOF came along, I was well versed in coasters and an adrenaline junkie, so the launch was nothing but pure thrill for me. On a side note, I gotta agree with Magenta. I have never forced my son to ride anything. Talked him into it, yes, but forced, no. Once he rode The Beast, he was hooked as well, especially our night ride. We went to Cedar Point this year and he was not afraid of anything he rode. Millennium Force is the largest he has been able to ride thus far, and he got on with no resistance. Nor did I even have to talk him into it. He's really looking forward to next year as he will be 52" and it will add 6 new coasters for him to ride; Top Thrill Dragster, Steel Vengeance (although 48" requirement), Wicked Twister, Maverick, GateKeeper and Valravn.

Vortex new in '83?
Good point. What came after Vortex?

Yogi's Final Farewell
Personally Ryan, I am pleased with their extension with the Peanuts franchise. The characters are recognizable and I see that kids love 'em. As I was saying in that thread I created, the price point I am sure has a lot to do with their renewal. If there comes a time when that price point is deemed not financially feasible, other characters and franchises will be considered.

Ohio State Fair Ride Malfunction (1 Death and critical injuries)
So, a patron tells the ride op that his seat was pretty shaky, which was ignored and then ride op offers to let the next patrons ride or be replaced by someone else. It absolutely blows my mind that you have a previous employee who says this: Yeah, I know that these people (who provide the rides) are in business and have a reputation to maintain, yada yada, so they have to maintain their portable rides. Except in the case where selling tickets to ride is more important than public safety. Thanks, but no thanks, I'll stick to permanent rides that have mechanics on site who are well versed in maintaining and inspecting their rides.

Vortex new in '83?
I have heard all of those same things about The Vortex being discounted due to The Bat's failure. Remnants of The Bat still remain. Old footers. The design of the doors under the station that indicate a track from above, as opposed to the one below. It would be an interesting thought as to where it could have gone had it been built prior to '87. Or where it could have been installed had The Bat not been a failure.

Cedar Fair Renews Peanuts License
No arguments in that there are more recognizable characters. Again, I am guessing price point and being recognizable at all are what keeps them renewing. Until either becomes just too extreme, it will stay Peanuts.
-
Yogi's Final Farewell
Like I was saying, in my experience, the kids I have seen love the Peanuts characters. Sure, there are other properties, but I am guessing they want way too much $$$$$ comparatively. If Peanuts become too expensive or just so unrecognizable any more, I am sure that CF would re-consider. Until then, this is what the park has chosen to stick by.

Possible Ride Station Location?
Since we are on the topic of flat rides, what would you all like to see KI add in that department? Not sure how feasible it is, but I would like to see a new coaster wind up in X Base. Maybe some flat rides back there as well.

Yogi's Final Farewell
That's funny. My kid loved the movie, has watched it several times, and loved interacting with the characters while at KI. I saw a lot of other kids doing the same.

2018 Construction in Coney Mall
Not many here would get your reference of Electric Boogaloo, but that really made me laugh. Whenever I see a sequel to a movie, I always add that in to the title. Now, on topic, it's interesting to say the least. I hope it is a sit down restaurant as my old butt needs a nice place to be seated while eating.

Cedar Fair Renews Peanuts License
Really, it all boils down to money and recognition of these characters. With the recent movie, they have brought Peanuts to a whole new generation. As long as this license doesn't reach a price point where they feel it would be better to purchase another more popular brand, then as you guys have said, it will stay with CF.

A very well deserved award. Mystic Timbers definitely packs a punch
