  1. Truly sad incident. I pray for her family as no one imagines another family member passing away on a day that should bring lots of joy and good memories. Aren't the seat belts on WWC velcro? Not sure that kind of restraint would have prevented her from standing up if so. I may be remembering incorrectly though. Not sure how you can change the restraints to prevent something like this from happening.
  2. Stand up coasters do have height adjusting seats. Saw many ride ops adjusting seat height on Mantis and King Kobra. I think the novelty of standing on a roller coaster is long since past interesting to most of the general public. I don't believe a new train design is going to change that, and it is unfortunate as I never had an uncomfortable ride on either of those two stand ups.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised to see it wind up at Michigan's Adventure. Perfect fit for that park.
  4. Personally, I like the Vekomas that I have been on. I enjoy Invertigo and Firehawk at KI. I rode Firehawk when it was X Flight at Geauga Lake. Also enjoyed Thunderhawk at GL as well. I really enjoy how Invertigo doesn't look like it would be that intense, but actually delivers a really intense ride. No matter how many times I ride Invertigo, I always picture the train going off the spike like some of my creations used to do in RCT.
  5. Welcome to KIC! Glad to hear you are willing to go with your daughter considering your comfort level and anxiety. I have seen a lot of great responses, so I don't have anything to add other than I take my kid and the look on their faces created from the excitement of being there is something you do not want to miss. I got some really good advice recently and that is make memories with your children. You can buy them things, but the things most treasured as they get older are the experiences, not what you bought them. That is why I have four trips planned for this year beginning with a concert in Columbus, a trip to KI in May, a week at North Myrtle Beach in June, and a trip to Cedar Point in July my birthday weekend.
  6. I think Mystic Timbers is going to be an awesome addition. A night ride may even rival The Beast. But, it still seems that The Beast is much more secluded. I would also add that MT is hardly a cookie cutter ride. The shed at the end is not the only unique element. Read the interview article located on this very web site.
  7. Maybe the "They" is referring to the announcement and what the stats will be
  8. So, I haven't read any of this thread. Keeping that in mind, I wanted to comment that I just saved $61 on the gate price of Kings Island and Cedar Point by purchasing their Coaster Combo tickets. I had planned on season passes this year, but by the time I went to do so, they were out of my price range. Plus, I most likely will only make one trip to each park.
  9. I love The Vortex. However, I am of the opinion that as much as I love it, its' shelf life seems to be coming to an end. I am positive that Ouimet will come up with something great to go in that spot. For me, it will always be the ghost of The Bat location. I loved that ride and unfortunately, it was poorly designed.
  10. I say this with a grain of salt, but rumor has it that it will be relocated to Michigan's Aventure.
  11. I always loved the Mean Streak as well. But I can see where its' shelf life was at an end. Excited for the new
  12. My guess is that this will have most inversions for an RMC'd coaster. Will be interesting to say the least. I am in the camp of 2018 based on the fact that you wouldn't spend that much on a project and not help to push season pass sales for the season it opens.
  13. Wow, I think that one takes the cake. I am sure that I rode The Bat (original) at least twice.
  14. calakapepe, I'm not sure how anyone classes Ohio as midwest either. It's way more east coast than anything. BGT would be the one I pick for CF to buy.
  15. Love the Facebook page and everything you have posted, Shaggy. TombraiderTY. nice posting of the concept art. I too, remember when Adventure Express opened. Twas a great ride with all of the theming, lights. fog, etc. Now, it's a great mid coaster with minimal theming.
  16. Completely agree with all of this right here. You should seek to be a designer or architect. Seriously
  17. Which is why I said it's my opinion. Pays to read
  18. By the picture they are using, I am guessing that Intamin will be building a new ride for CGA or one that is an Intamin is being relocated. I don't think it will be another manufacturer, but that's my opinion.
  19. The sign looks great! I love The Vortex and it was so awesome getting to ride it with my son for his first time last season.
  20. I would rather see something that pops than something that looks like traced letters
  21. Yes, that is what I was meaning. I do however, like the flying coasters as well, although I have never been on a B&M Flyer.
  22. I think a flyer is a good possibility, unless something new and unique comes along like the Wing Rider
  23. That is what I was getting at Shark. Yes, potential is there, but nothing is guaranteed to be around for decades. I look at some parks that have closed or been abandoned and I'm sure at one point, they thought the same thing.
