By opening day 2017 it will have been 4 1/2 years since SOB was torn down, almost 8 years since it last ran, and almost 11 years since it's only major incident. How long do you think they should wait?No one died on SOB (thank God); no one was paralyzed. People were admitted to the hospital mostly as a precaution. Many people, including me, rode SOB after that incident. I don't see the problem with a new wooden coaster.

Sometimes I think many of you purposely downplay your expectations or the expectations of others to amplify the surprise when it is revealed, for kicks, or to protect against disappointment. Based off of what we've seen so far I would say this is some kind of tracked ride (coaster/flume) with a coaster more likely. 1. Preparations and teasing started early. 2.This is not the clear cutting needed for flat rides or a large dark ride or area expansion. 3. 3 year gap between coasters is reasonable. 4. Kentucky Kingdom and Holiday World are more competitive with KI than they have been in many years, if ever.

I'd love to see a camelback hill that goes beyond straight up on the ascent and beyond straight down on the descent if you can imagine. How it might feel on a coaster might be a different story!

I think it's interesting that the beyond 90 degree, (inward) drop hasn't taken off on large coasters like hypers or gigas. The 111 degree drop on Wild Hawg is pretty amazing. I can't imagine that on a 200 footer.

Are the markers in question in the woods that led up to the WWC, or are they actually around the WWC troughs themselves?

You'd be surprised all the old signs that they still have in the sign shop. Granted, the last time I was in there was 2009. Hopefully another tour is on the plate for Coasterstock! I'd love to see it. I remember hearing from a member here that some of the Red Racer or Blue Racer signs are there but sadly there aren't enough for all of the trains.

Yes, it was. It was changed because there was a bad Paramount movie called Congo. Look at the sign for the ride. It has a really nice 3D "Falls" and a cheap flat vinyl "Congo." I wonder if the Amazon part of the sign is collecting dust somewhere in storage. If so, I'd change it back.

I bet Don hated having to push that crap. I'm sure he knew better. Why did Cedar Fair, which was at least then ran by a very conservative family, bring that about?

I love it. Kennywood knows better than anyone how to operate as both a modern, and historical amusement park.

As you know, there are many, many factors that go into a timetable for new large attraction. The economy wasn't exactly booming in the period between the addition of Diamondback and Banshee. Parks will do what makes them money. Holiday World just flexed it's muscle last year, and it appears that at least some money that would have otherwise gone to KI is now going to Kentucky Kingdom. There are no hard-and-fast rules. If adding Coaster X next year helps the bottom line more than money spent in other parks or places, they'll do it.

This kind of thing doesn't happen with B&M and GCI.

They can build less thrilling coasters, but they shouldn't add low capacity coasters.

B&M for them, and GCI for us?

If they Iron Horse track the Voyage I don't know if I could ever go back. I think GCI and Millennium Flyers may be able to help turn it around. I just don't know if GCI would or could touch it. One not small issue I wonder about is the steel support structure. What effect is it having? Is it making the track take more or the wear and tear?

I would if it were the only way to put it in a wooden environment. In my opinion, the best possible spot for a terrain woodie is where the current Bat sits. I wouldn't get rid of The Bat for that reason though.

Flat rides tend to not be placed randomly out in the woods.

I'm not sure if you're mostly joking. I don't think it really matters. The first Steeplechase was in New York City!

I'd like to see it rethemed to horse racing with steeplechase trains.

I don't "get" gigas. They're a holdout of the bigger is better coaster records race of the '90s and early '00s. If it is one I'll enjoy it, but I would so much rather have a new GCI woodie.

A type of bread. A Pennsylvania park logo. A flat surface with no thickness. Wouldn't THAT be awesome?

A wooden coater younger than disco, leisure suits, and CB radio would be nice. Can you imagine if the situation were reversed and KI's youngest steel coaster were the Screamin' Demon?
