  1. With the park pushing 50 years old, there have to be very few people who were living nearby before a theme park was built, and there has been plenty of time to see which way the wind was blowing and get out if they didn't like it. There have to be vanishingly few people who make noise complaints about Kings Island that didn't know they were moving near it. That's why I get really worried about the proposed plan to put apartments in the former KI resort property. A whole lot of people would be (or will be) moving next to the park (and a busy highway) and just because they know or should know they're moving next to the park, it won't prevent some of them from making complaints about the noise and traffic the park creates.
  2. When I lived in Burbank, CA, there would be people standing outside the grocery trying to get signatures for petitions to limit the number of evening flights out of the Burbank airport. These were typically people who had bought the homes near the airport that were built after the airport. The whole reason why their homes were able to be purchased for less than a million dollars (and I'm not kidding) was because of their less-than-ideal location. But, yet, they got annoyed they were living next to an airport. I despised driving north/south through or around Los Angeles, so I loved being able to fly out of Burbank. So I never signed those petitions.
  3. ^launching off the slide and then installing a horizontal steel bar overhead at the same place where the launches happened. It is almost shocking no one was decapitated or otherwise amputated /earlier./ As was mentioned earlier about The Beast helix, in comparison: I got my "Beast Bite" a couple years ago, because my upraised arms were jostled somewhat sideways just before entering the tunnel. While it hurt, and answered my question about whether the wall was as close as it appeared or was just an illusion caused by speed, it also was very evident to me that the vertical walls at that point are purposefully installed in such a way as to prevent people from much worse injury if they ignore the safety rules. Rather than catching my hands, the smooth walls quickly directed them away back toward the car. Anyone who was aware the boats on Verruct were launching into the air should have also been aware of the folly of installing something overhead that would so easily catch onto body parts and potentially cause much worse injuries than a hard landing onto the slide.
  4. Do you mean a single Fast Lane Plus? You can buy them the day you want them at the park. It is possible they have special pricing online that can only be purchased prior to the day used. Even if it was a little cheaper online, unless it was a day I could be fairly sure the park will be packed (holidays or summer Saturdays with predicted good weather) I would never consider buying Fast Lane unless I was at the park to observe the crowds first.
  5. I knew the entire situation surrounding that ride was bad. I had no idea it was that bad.
  6. Killmart building isn't missing, that's it next to Zephyr. It looks like it is getting a facelift tho.
  7. Ooooooh, good catch! I wonder if it will be coming back into regular season use at all? I miss having the extra arcade, but with the removal of Attitudes (and arcade games not being as popular as they once were) it would seem to make the most sense to make it into a shop.
  8. I'd love to see a wild mouse style coaster in there
  9. I think his point was about steel wheels on wooden coasters and plastic wheels on steel coasters. That the wheels are what you're actually riding on, and I guess in his mind, are more important to the feel.
  10. ^ to give an extended life to existing wooden coasters, with the benefit of perhaps a little less upkeep? Parks care about their bottom line a lot more than they care how enthusiasts classify their coasters. In this situation, it's not as though even enthusiasts agree.
  11. Ideally for fundraising purposes, there wouldn't be a set price. There would be a number of available slots, and the amount would be determined by what people are willing to pay/raise for the privilege.
  12. If something does start going on back there I bet Blue Racer and WindSeeker are going to get even more riders WindSeeker would give excellent views of anything going on in the former DA area
  13. Whether he comes back or not, I'm just hopeful he is fully healed and rehabilitated.
  14. Considering there wasn't any musical overlap between Origins and Imagine, I think it is unlikely there will be any repeated music. Unless I'm forgetting something that was reused? The sets and overall feel will almost certainly be as different from Origins as Origins was different from Imagine. I would bet there will be at least one familiar face, but there really are so many talented performers out there that it is entirely possible there won't be.
  15. *doing a little dance* This is the first official confirmation I've heard. Kings Island's holding page text for entertainment mentions acrobatics so I was hopeful but I couldn't be sure. Woo-hoo!
  16. This reminds me that I had a dream recently that I was riding something that was kind of like a cross between Vortex and Mystic Timbers.
  17. Nope, you just need to be a member of an approved club by the time you check in. The only event in recent history that I know of that had a requirement to already be a member of a club was Mystic Timbers' media day. Most ACE members were invited, but only if they were registered before that invitation was publicized. They didn't want a bunch of people joining ACE just to flood media day.
  18. It almost looks like two shipping containers sitting next to other. Whatever it is for, it's pretty firmly in a "backstage" area tho.
  19. Oh, I just assumed that one was something added at the same time as the Coke Marketplace. Do we have any pics that might show whether it was there last year?
  20. I don't think that is new construction in Oktoberfest unless you're seeing something I'm not. It looks like it is a prize storage shed behind the rope ladder game, that ordinarily would be blocked from view by the game. I think I had heard they were removing/replacing that game but I don't know if that is why it's been stripped down so much or if that's just normal off-season
  21. Fingers still crossed that it is an announcement of multiple "new" restaurants and they will be opening the International Restaurant all season
  22. The article is from 2012, so I guess there weren't any parks willing to invest $50-million in something referred to as "the vomit-comet ride." Eek!
  23. Within the first weekend of Mystic Timbers being open, they already needed to fix the split rail queue fencing because people kept sitting on it and eventually broke some of it. They have to walk a fine line with queue theming to have stuff that is interesting but either sturdy or well out of range of guests.
