Peanuts Celebration at KI
Magenta Lizard replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
The tableaux are not very selfie friendly but I tried my best (@chugh43 has some better ones of us and @pianoman that we took before the celebration officially began and they were all setup by the front gates) So I'm pretty sure that's Belle and her house on the left, but does anyone know whose house is in the middle? Somebody suggested Spike but it seems to me part of Spike's story is that he doesn't have a home... Always good to see Lucy and Linus's younger brother, Rerun. -
I don't know about the rest of Coney, but I have actually heard PostModern Jukebox, specifically, on the patio at Coney BBQ. Teenage Dirtbag and Stressed Out.
-
I had a lot of fun sketching Peppermint Patty last night. (It spent some time folded up in my pocket afterward) I may have to go to the park on Wednesday this week so I can hit all the sketch sessions without missing Gravity (because they're off that day).
-
A girl can write her own story too. I've been imagining the groundhogs that live near The Beast as the embodiment of "The Beast" for some time now. Lets write some KI fan fiction

^that's one of the things I really like about Chef Nate. I've seen him many times drop into a restaurant to check on things, and immediately jump in to help serving food to keep the line moving. He recognizes the importance of "all hands on deck."

I don't think there have been any discount offers yet this year. I've been around the same number of times and the only notifications/offers were notifications about special events in the park.
-
In my experience this season, Red Racer is faster, winning each race by quite a bit. They usually end up fiddling with the trims throughout the season, so that may change.
-
I couldn't tell from the page, but is the rest of the park open and if so, are rides included with that Moonlite Gardens luncheon series? I'm interested in the historical one but if I'm going to drive down to Coney I'd also like to ride that new Ferris wheel
-
JDRF run, I believe.
-
Yes, background app refresh is on. I'm still on iOS 10, tho.
-
I have my app settings on my iPhone set to "Location: while using" and the ride wait times show up just fine. Mine is a 6s. I haven't noticed the KI app affecting my battery usage at all. Now Pokémon Go on the other hand...

Kentucky Kingdom
Magenta Lizard replied to sccard01's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It just occurred to me to go to the source(https://jobs.cedarfair.com/our-parks/kings-island/), because it's not like they want to keep this secret since it is ultimately a recruiting tool: "Admission to all Cedar Fair parks, Kentucky Kingdom, Dollywood & Holiday World" Apparently I was misremembering Hershey and BG. -
If anyone is interested, Shazam was able to identify a couple of the songs when I watched the show. One is "Et Si C'était Un Veau" by Misteur Valair Another is (appropriately) "Other Worlds" by Bassnectar and Dorfex Bos.

Well, they're horses not ponies so chances are it is a decently high weight limit. All children and most adults should be able to ride. Edit: just went and looked at the pics, and it says the weight limit is 150 lbs. I must have overestimated the size of the horses. Ironically, after doing a little more research, it turns out that ponies, even though they are a little shorter, because they have a stockier build, would probably be able to carry heavier loads. And I know the sign calls them "ponies" but the animals I saw giving rides had the conformation of horses, not ponies.

I believe someone who works at KI has told me KK is one of the parks they have this reciprocal relationship with, yes. I believe Dollywood, BG, and Hershey are also part of it. -
KICentral Apparel is now available!
Magenta Lizard replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Anything colorful would be appreciated. Red, light blue, etc. -
Not inside them I don't think (there's not really insides to most) but they did use to have live performers early on.
-
Exiting DB, the ride op on the mic reiterates that shoes must be worn, because apparently an oncoming rider wasn't. A teenager nearby says "no shoes? What are they... nudists?!"
-
I'm hoping for a reschedule but I was glad to see it was cancelled when I saw the weather. I'm still going to the park, but while I have fun on rainy days, it would make setting up and taking pictures harder. And the resulting shots of waterlogged riders probably aren't what they're looking for to help sell the perfect summer experience

As far as I know, you don't actually need a pass to participate in one of the photo shoots. You enter the park through the employee areas and the email specifies you may stay and enjoy the rest of the day in the park after the shoot is over which would be a strange thing to tell specifically to passholders (because of course we can :))

Yes, I've also been selected
-
^I'm not sure if they can tell I applied. I've done it before, but on a day when the park wasn't open to the GP so it would be interesting to see how it's handled on a day I could be in the park anyway, if I'm selected. It can be a little boring as they set up the cameras but the actual, hired, models gossiping about their personal lives may be entertaining. It's fun to see yourself in advertising too, obvs.

They sold out, so apparently somebody has them (500 somebodies, I believe). I know @Gannersdaddy and his son have them.

^Last year, they kept hope alive and really put in the effort to make sure we got as much of our late ERT as was safely possible. It would have been so easy to say "this storm isn't blowing over, ERT is cancelled, go home" but instead everyone stuck around and quickly got the rides moving again as soon as lightning left the area. Those rides were even sweeter after the forced rest and worry it might not clear. It was even fun for everyone to be collected in the Festhaus while the storm was raging outside. I've heard Don Helbig tried hard that evening to find the episodes of Brady Bunch and Partridge Family that were filmed at KI, to show on the screen in there, but was unable on such short notice. I hope he comes prepared this year, just in case

I don't have any inside information on this, but I think it stems from the problem of trying to keep guests from hopping off the train in the dark and heading off into the woods. It is a problem sometimes during the the day, imagine how hard it would be to prevent and then find anyone who did it at night? With the differences in how Haunt crowds behave, it is possible it could end up taking several guards' and officers' time each night rounding up and ousting a few trouble makers.
