  1. ^so do the printed information sheets about dining, next to the maps at the front gates
  2. So you would say it sounds like he had all that on the way down while he was driving? That's pretty crazy. Most people that age would also be unconscious with a blood alcohol of .21, not climbing fences and towers (even using the stairs). It really makes me wonder how much of a problem with alcohol he had prior to the incident. I always had heard alcohol was involved, but I didn't realize it was in such copious amounts.
  3. Out of curiosity. It says he had half a bottle of rum and some beers on the ride down (which I'm estimating was about a two hour drive?). It doesn't say whether he was a passenger. Did his friends ever elaborate on that at all? I would think that if they mentioned something like that, they also would go into that detail.
  4. I was joking when I said that, of course they bought it from Art's Rental rather than paying rent on it for multiple years. Which has been confirmed up-thread.
  5. I have been told by the former head of merchandise and warehousing that indeed is the case. There will be discounted merchandise in each of the shops (I haven't seen any yet) but, Coney Confections is back to just a regular store now. Makes me a little sad.
  6. I once saw someone get past the initial "GateKeeper" of Banshee with an entire string backpack full of stuff underneath his t-shirt. Fortunately the ride ops saw him standing in line with his shirt sticking out unnaturally in the back, and sent him back down to get a locker or leave it elsewhere. With something that isn't obtrusive, like a slim waist pack, some operators may have missed it, others may have judged it not enough of a problem. But, it is still against the rules, so don't get too angry at the ones enforcing it. If you really think it is unfair, stop by guest services and lodge a complaint there. It will be seen by someone who would actually have the ability to change the policy if they feel it is warranted.
  7. Oooooooh, I really like that. I'd personally like that on the back, and a small logo on one side of the chest in the front, of the "KI" made from WindSeeker, a coaster hill, and the Eiffel Tower, like the banner on the top of the website, and then CENTRAL in smaller letters below it.
  8. Gosh, I hope they aren't still renting.
  9. There's something magical about the matching themes to each area. Hearing the music change over from modern pop to bluegrass as I pass The Beast restrooms really signifies the transition more than the visuals ever did, for some reason. I /notice/ I'm in Rivertown. I had the same sort of experience when they initially brought the instrumentals back to International Street. It made me much more aware of the fountains, the shops, and the rest of the theming.
  10. I think a major problem is that the general public really doesn't understand how it works. It shouldn't be up to the people who need the green passes to explain or justify it, though. I think the park needs to post the policy somewhere prominent or do an information campaign, or something, both to let anyone who may need the accommodation know about it, and prevent people who don't need it from feeling like they're "getting cut." Even as much as I'm at the park, because I don't need the accommodation and haven't rode with someone who did, I didn't realize how they work either. I really didn't know there was any waiting time, but I was ok with that because the people loading from the exit typically have enough of a struggle so I feel they deserve a little extra consideration. I think a lot of other people also must not realize there's still a wait, and a handful of those probably feel that is "unfair" or otherwise irritating. Usually the only time I get a little irritated, it isn't against the person getting on the train, but the ride op who waited until just before the gates opened to mention they were going to load that row from the exit, and my group is taking up more than one row and we already went through the trouble of coordinating getting on the same train by letting people in front of us on some rows, etc.
  11. From what I've heard, it's "again" not "still." I personally didn't check it out, although I believe I observed a sign saying one entree was the meal for dining. But, many people have said opening weekend Panda was enforcing one entree on dining. Now this weekend, new signage that says two entrees are included on dining. Hopefully, this is the option that will remain for the season. I suspect they got a ton of complaints from people who were still expecting two entrees like last year, opening weekend.
  12. ^I'd like all of those things, plus a second entrance/exit. I feel like the "dead end" quality is one of the biggest drawbacks to the area. I spend a good deal of my time at the park just walking. If lines are longer than I'm willing to wait in, I just circle around the park to find something else to interest me. Because X-Base is a dead end, I only go back there when I know I'm going to ride something which is almost always first thing in the morning when I know the lines haven't started to grow. The rest of the day I almost forget it exists.
  13. Last weekend, I could see they were working over there, but the new building went very vertical within the past week. This is a quick snap I took before turning onto KI Drive off of Great Wolf Drive. You can see how far to the right the building is, it's really not part of the former resort area. It will be nice to have more lodging in the area tho.
  14. It's crazy how much I'm hoping they still have baked sweet potatoes as a side at the new Coney BBQ this weekend. I'm all in with the new food options so far! update: I'm in line and see sweet potates!
  15. I haven't done too much searching of the park yet this season, but I would bet on Ms. Pacman having been moved to one of the arcades rather than being removed entirely. If I see it, I'll let you know.
  16. Welcome to KIC! The best people to ask about this would be the park itself, but I think it is entirely possible. I know they have relaxed their policy on facial hair and visible tattoos recently.
  17. I was just happy when they replaced the bulb in the bowl of hot oil. With a flickering one no less! If they just turned up the speakers so I could hear "now you will pay!" from the back of the train, it might just kill me
  18. Or the brightly colored bench seats that have been stacked there at MT's turnaround, in the KI&MVRR's "third station," since about halfway through last summer. I mean, I'm all for speculation. I'm even for thinking just about anything in the park might be a further clue, once it is clear something new is coming. But absent the things the park would definitely be doing (teasing with signs and social media posts) if something major was coming, there's just really no point to look at things that appear to be regular park maintenance and suggest they could be something else.
  19. Oh, you mean the ash trees down by The Beast MCBR that have been laying there since last spring? Try harder. Next you'll be on about the skids there with wood that is clearly meant for repairs on Beast itself.
  20. There's a park near home where I like to go walk and play Pokémon Go. Last visit, we went for a hike through the woods, and saw that a fair number of trees had been cut down to be removed. I can safely say that park isn't getting a roller coaster next year either. As long as there are no actual signs (like the ones on the fence in Rivertown when the park opened in 2016) I'm finding it extremely hard to see any of these things that happen every year (replacing or installing things like sewage or drainage pipes, cutting down trees, cleaning up an area where something has been removed) as being "signs" of anything other than typical park maintenance. Edit: the Giga crane games have been in the park since at least 2016. It wasn't a sign about the construction that eventually led to Mystic Timbers, nor is it a sign now.
  21. For those like me who love the Wizard of Oz coin pushers, they've added a handful of similar Willy Wonka coin pushers to the Coney Arcade.
  22. I truly think that if a new coaster was coming in 2019, especially a Giga, they would not avoid the chance to start whetting our appetites. The "watch for falling trees" signs were on the new fence in Rivertown when it first appeared in 2016. The lack of foreshadowing is forcing me to push my hopes to 2020.
  23. I miss the roaming entertainment. They tried to bring it back with the KI Five, which I loved but was no more last year. And welcome to KIC, @super7!! I didn't notice you were new when you posted the other day.
  24. Last year, I would have to say that Red was rougher overall, but Blue had one spot (the dip before the last hill before the turnaround) that was excruciating. Even on a non-wheel seat, it smacked me hard in the back there. I'm curious to see whether that improved. I'm betting it has, because Red definitely felt smoother.
