  1. ...when I pull into the garage but wait a bit to go inside because Cars just came on the radio
  2. Wasn't just last year. It has smelled like urine every year it's been open. I don't know what specifically the problem is.
  3. I don't think you missed it. I suspect they will start with Mystic Timbers again this year, since it is still new and popular. edit: I went and checked out the season pass benefits page and it does mention specifically ERT on Mystic Timbers. I assume they will continue to rotate other rides in addition to it tho.
  4. With no winky face it is hard to tell someone means to be tongue-in-cheek.
  5. ^ the train and WWC are both Rivertown flats
  6. I still haven't heard a whisper of a rumor one way or the other. I'm obviously really hoping that KI continues their relationship with Les Productions Haut-Vol to bring another new Cirque show to the KI Theater. However the past three years, I had heard about as legitimate rumors as you can get without an official announcement by now, usually by the end of Cirque for the year. This time, silence. The only thing I know for sure is that the set for Origins was broken down and removed (a friend saved a couple small chunks for me), but it was expected that Origins would only have a two year run, just as Cirque Imagine did. Prior to its end I had assumed a new Haut-Vol production would replace it but I'm a little concerned not to have any verification. If not Cirque, I hope it is something else interesting and up to that quality!
  7. I don't think you are. Even though it still hasn't been officially announced, I personally feel it is pretty well established that the construction in Coney Mall will be a new restaurant with new menu items.
  8. One of the benefits of buying early is you can be certain to pick The Beast tour time slot you prefer. I don't know whether they will send the t-shirt, lanyard, etc extra-early if you register now, but I don't think it is very likely. If you're certain you'll be able to schedule to go, and have the $ now, I say go for it! If you're not yet a coaster club member you may want to wait until closer to Coasterstock to join (so you'll have a later renewal date), but not so long that you have trouble getting your credentials before the event. They do not ask for specifics of your membership during the online registration, other than selecting which club you belong to.
  9. I just want to know how KI scored Ridiculously Photogenic Guy for the Mystic Timbers pic that's the background for the Coasterstock page... In the back seat there
  10. All participants must have purchased a ticket to Coasterstock and registered, as well. Every registered attendee will receive a lanyard that must be shown to participate in any ERT, behind-the-scenes tour, or meal. If you wanted to have a friend attend with you during the regular park hours to ride rides with you, you could do that, they'd just need to entertain themselves for awhile if you want to do event things. But, no, you can't just bring a guest into those event activities.
  11. ^ May 18 and 19 are a Friday and Saturday, not a Saturday and Sunday.
  12. Get yer tickets! https://www.visitkingsisland.com/play/events/coasterstock Ticket sales end a week earlier this year, on May 6, so don't put it off until last minute! There is also an option this year, for $10, to have all your swag mailed to you prior to the event and skip check-in.
  13. Seats, not trains. Not announced, a leaked photo from (I believe they are saying) someone in maintenance's instagram. I hope said employee didn't lose their job over it. But if you wanna know more read back in the thread, it would make more sense than repeating all of it over.
  14. I don't think the antique cars were prohibitively expensive. But I am sure the Eagles were much more fuel efficient in cost per rider/ride. Which is why I am making the argument removing Eagles was a /bigger/ mistake just from a monetary standpoint. Just one way of looking at it. This is why I usually don't bother ranking things tho no one way of looking at it will be the be-all end-all reality.
  15. Well, considering the older seats weren't painted to get their color, they were molded in orange (the black showing as they aged wasn't the underside showing: as the top surface got rough from wear and I believe sun damage, it drew dirt and possibly mold which looked black), if the photo of the new seats is accurate, then it is safe to assume that is the color they will continue to be.
  16. I think the Eagles were a bigger mistake, just from a cost/benefit point of view. The 'tiques required a lot more ride ops per rider, not to mention the cost of fuel to operate.
  17. Welcome to KIC! Your cousin is pretty rare, in my experience. It seems most people I've known (including myself) who say they're blind without their glasses are nearsighted. But reading glasses are for farsightedness so they wouldn't help. They also tend to be pretty low strength, for severe farsightedness you'd need custom prescription glasses. I just wear contacts when I'm out. I hated glasses so much (especially when doing things like going to amusement parks in the summer and sweating, going from hot to cold inside an AC'd building, etc) I got contacts as soon as my mom let me when I was thirteen. I dislike them so much still, I almost never will wear sunglasses even though I have a fair degree of light sensitivity due to severe myopia.
  18. I've given him a bit of a hard time before, for "removing the wraps from dining" (a decision I don't think was even his) but I hope Chef Nate isn't leaving. I feel like a lot of positive changes have been made the past few years with him as the head chef. But really, the thing that impresses me most is how active he tends to be in the day-to-day operations of all the different food service locations, pitching in when needed. On many days at the beginning and ending of seasons, I've seen him in the kitchens helping with the cooking grunt work. On a handful of occasions throughout the season he's dropped into a location when I was there (just to check in that things are going well, from what I can tell) and personally assembled my order and others as long as he's there.
  19. He did say there would be a later announcement. He did not say when. However that tweet was about something CP in particular said in their own Snapchat, so I would take it with a grain of salt to assume that KI or other parks are going to also do something soon. I hope I'm wrong tho, because I'm excitedly anticipating officially hearing what is coming to KI next year, too.
  20. Regular season passes don't give admission to Haunt or Winterfest. Really, I think that paying around the price of two full-price single day tickets to the park, and receiving free admission and parking any day they're open is plenty of "perk." If what you mean is you want more exclusivity to special events, really the only thing that is going to do it is either a large increase in the price of season passes (so that less people buy them), or something like the Ride Warriors club up at CP where you pay to belong to an exclusive club invited to multiple special events (which apparently was not worth it from that park's point of view since it has been disbanded), or upcharges for individual events (like the Banshee Brew festival or Spirit Song). As far as I'm concerned, the best semi-exclusive perk is Coasterstock, and I'll definitely be paying to attend it for the fourth year in a row.
  21. ^That is such a persistent, long-term wish, for me, that I don't even think to mention it anymore. But, yes, of course. Bring back recaR sdrawkcaB!
  22. I think I was (unintentionally) the source of the antique cars rumor. I mentioned in a thread here that the dinos alive path would be a really great spot to put antique cars. Someone else mentioned the hills are too steep in some areas for the cars to deal with. I agreed, and thought that was the end of it. Soon afterward, I think another site (I won't use their name) picked it up and passed it on as "insider info." I had no less than three (non-KIC) friends at the park tell it back to me as something that was "going to happen." Then once the Attitudes building was torn down and speculation started on that, antique cars were still fresh in everyone's minds, so the "rumor" spread to being about that area. I think the antique car at Winterfest was either just recycling something the park already owns, or it was both that and a conscious nod to the rumor.
  23. ^I think you misunderstood me. It is not employee housing. The plan, as far as anyone has heard it (although construction has seemed to be stalled) is to put multi family housing on the land that used to be the resort. That land is not owned by KI. If there is any employee housing at KI I've never heard of it. I'm fairly certain there isn't.
  24. ^ I would say it is very likely to. They are probably waiting until closer to actual opening to finalize pricing on something like that.
  25. I noticed toward the end of Winterfest that they are building something over on that side of KI drive but it is on the edge near other buildings (end opposite from the old movie theater/current church). I don't know if that particular piece of land was part of the resort property or not. Because of that, I'm not sure if this is them finally moving forward on the plans to put in housing or not.
