Kings Island 20th Anniversary Special Poster
Imperial79 replied to adamscott's topic in Kings Island
That would be nice to see! Maybe someone can ask them this question and about restoring the antenna at next year's Coasterstock. -
Oh gosh, this is hard to keep in!

Dorms maybe coming to Dorney
Imperial79 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This is good news, show's KI is working on the staffing issues, so they could be open during the last 2 weeks in August. I haven't heard anything about the school bill. -
What a special and memorable moment for this family at Kings Island! Congratulations!

So what did he say after that? "I've recommended a lot of things to those peo-"

Cedar Fair's Strongest Performer in 2017 was KI
Imperial79 replied to Creed Bratton's topic in Kings Island
I'm not saying Mystic was the whole reason for the +2.5%, but CF did say before Winterfest that attendance was good at KI and Mystic was the main reason in their quarterly results last year for it being up. Good to see last year was great for KI, and CF's best performer. -
Indeed, this notion that KI doesn't get enough love for corporate or that Banshee wasn't a hit is bizarre.. If Banshee wasn't a hit and they were focusing on other parks afterwards why did we get a big investment in 2017? Mystic Timbers, Island Smokehouse and Winterfest is not cheap I'd be guessing. While we didn't get a ride in 2018, we had plenty of new infrastructure upgrades, new Coney BBQ, and a new light show on International Street, I'll take it! Not that I'm trying make the season go by faster, but it'll be nice to see what's new for 2019 that continues to debunk this feeling.
-
Is Coney BBQ busy? Sounds like if they are, the lines are going pretty quick.
-
I'm relaxed, just clarifying. I think the Crypt building should be as well.
-
No I said it gives guests another thing to do, and it does. There was no 's' added to my comment.
-
^Yes I knew that, thanks. I never said it allows guest other things then Spirit Song.... Could they take it out? Yes, I don't think they need to right now tho.
-
Its another thing to do while those events are going on. Its an appeal to that demographic of their guests that helps bring them to the park, while they can continue to build up other areas of the park that need it even more then spending money on stuff like Magenta said. Why would you vote yes if you don't know what you would put there? They could move Congo Falls to Rivertown, and take out Invergito and put in a new coaster over that way, to help equal out the crowds in Action Zone, its just a thought tho.
-
I voted no, it gives guests another thing to do while visiting KI.
-
And trying to put doubts in people's minds about the future of the park (when this site is mainly about KI), and post about how Kentucky Kingdom can start just taking away attendance and money from KI, isn't going to be very well liked on here... If we are honest, the main park out of the 3 in the area (KI, KK, HW) that hasn't lived up to what was envisioned is KK, I doubt it ever will. Does Ed slowly keep building the park up and hope someone buy's it from him again? Or long term plan to keep the park? Who would take the risk and buy it with its history? I don't think any of the parks are getting shafted, and they're all pretty well balanced.

On the cookeatexplore site, they have a page dedicated to talking about Chef Major and Kings Island's new food lineup for 2018! Here's the link. http://cookeatexplore.com/index.php/2018/05/07/kings-island-the-summer-food-lineup/

They don't and haven't for a long while, but we gather this info from their quarterly results. Here is their 3rd quarter results for 2017, attendance was up for the chain and they mention specifically being up for Kings Island because of MT, Knott's and Cedar Point because of the water park expansions. This is before Winterfest numbers as well... http://www.inparkmagazine.com/cedar-fair-reports-record-revenues-for-q3-2017/

Indeed, by reading some of this thread, you'd think the park isn't doing very good, and we barely get anything new...
-
All the parks are doing very well like what is stated, I'm pretty sure I read that KI was having its best year ever in 2017, Cedar Fair I believe is happy with the park and Rob Decker and others always have smiles on their faces when talking about KI. It will be very interesting to see the graph of the parks EBIDTA for 2017.
-
I don't think they're going to use the old SOB station for any new coaster imo. We may not even get a Giga for our next coaster. Some people thought we was getting a giga in 2014 and then thought we could get one in 2017, both turned out not to happen. I think the park is doing a good job gauging what they need.

2018 Additional Events Announced
Imperial79 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Looks like a fun event for the kids! -
I agree, if they did put an antique car ride back there, it would make sure KI would keep the best kids area award for a long time, that would be great!
-
It looks like Mystic Timbers is going to be open, with all the other rides that was open for 2017.
-
I don't think anyone has posted this yet but hours for Winterfest 2018 are now up! https://www.visitkingsisland.com/explore/calendar-and-hours Edit: The Winterfest 2018 page is also now up, along with the attractions! https://www.visitkingsisland.com/play/winterfest

Me too! The park has added a bunch of new led lights in Coney Mall last few years, a new coaster in Rivertown, new Gliders with led as well. I bet the park looks great at night from the Eiffel Tower!

After hearing about Rivertown adding its own music compared to the pop music that was there, anyone think they will keep this up and add more themed music to another area of the park? We now have what, International Street music back, Planet Snoopy own, Rivertown country music, I read in Coney Mall, The Racer has its own music so that's nice.
