You or your friend tell people in line that this is a diabetic situation. And you continue to use your glucose tablets you have in your pocket.
-
If your supplies fit in the 12x12 bag, what is the issue? Seriously, how many infusion sets fall off? How many sets does one need? And several sets of glucose tablets can easily fit in pockets, along with cell phone to control pump and CGM. Most families of four spending $200 to get into KI will come on a Saturday or Sunday. 12-14 hours in the park vs 6? It's a no brainer. So they have all day before 6 to come and go to their car and can bring in the big bag at 530. People often tend to make things more complicated than needed.

Since this policy is not unique to KI, I conjecture that Cedar Fair had legal aspects looked into before implementing this, and probably modeled this on policy by other venues that host events with a large attendance. As I have said before, infusion sets, CGMs etc. are not emergencies. Hypoglycemia, if untreated will be. That is why it's incumbent to carry glucose tabs. If one it to go low, treat with them and if not resolved, leave the line and go get something to eat at one of the many eateries/drinks stands that would love to serve you. Again, I can't speak for the park, but I would think they would be reasonable. Perhaps with a visit to GS or FA, arrangements could be made for a vehicular transport to a person's vehicle to get the infusion set, after both the initial set comes off, then the replacement that fits in the bag guidelines. Or the glucose tabs after all the tubes that fit in pockets have been exhausted. But I have never had to use glucose tabs at the park. And my CGM stayed intact, and back when I used a pump, I never had a need to replace my infusion set. And then again, if someone with a medical condition required a rolling suitcase full of supplies, they can enter the park before 6pm without being affected. Or, with the cooler weather, wear a jacket that has numerous zippered pockets after 6 pm. I'd be curious to know what you consider is the standard amount of supplies many T1Ds carry.

Knotts Berryfarm Schedule
BeeastFarmer replied to flightoffear1996's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not sure when you are going, but I would say that for Scary Farm and Merry Farm, they will not have things down for maintenance. I went in February '17 and all was open except for Montezuma's Revenge. It was down for months for maintenance. Magic Mountain had about of 1/3 of their rides down for maintenance in contrast. Of course, you probably already know that Xcelerator and Montezuma's Revenge are both down for extended times right now. -
It was posted a while back from KD that Griz was closed for the season. Another move by Cedar Fair and KD to keep a great ride for the long term.

If an infusion set gets removed prematurely, you replace it with the extra set you either have in your bag, or have left at first aid because Kings Island does allow for medical exceptions as previously stated. If you are hypoglycemic, you follow the guidelines of the Rule of 15. 15 grams of CHO, wait 15 minutes, recheck and treat again in 15 minutes. Hence glucose tablets that fit nicely in a pocket or small bag are quite effective as each tablet has 5 gm CHO. If the person is going down rapidly, there are literally food stands with sugary soft drinks that can be given. If they are more hypoglycemic than that, first aid/ambulance would be needed anyway and hopefully they learn how to better manage their condition. A failed cgm/infusion set is not an emergency. I can't speak for the park but I'm sure they can accommodate a larger bag with the intent of dropping it off at first aid or a trip to the car if a site falls off. Would be worth a visit to guest services to get a definitive answer . As far as fragility of diabetic supplies...they are very sturdy. Insulin pens are made from plastic and are easily transported in pockets. Many pumps and cgms have apps that are Bluetooth connected to a cell phone, but if not, are made of a similar material and durable enough for everyday life. Epi pen, I'm not familiar with, but what is standard procedure for these at other public places? But, above all, as someone who has lived with T1D for over forty years, you define your life, the disease doesn't define you. You can enjoy a wonderful hobby and be safe without carrying a suitcase of supplies, cookies and soda everywhere you go. The only anxiety I have EVER HAD at a park is the fear of being stopped on a ride with no glucose tabs and a falling glucose level. That's why I determine my outcome by being safe and reasonable with what I need to be safe. I've been hypoglycemic and hyperglycemic at Kings Island and every other place I carry out my activities of daily living. Treat and move on.

Epi pens and insulin pumps both fit in pockets. I would think feminine products are free at first aid, but i could be wrong. It's already been said that KI has made reasonable accommodations for needed medical supplies.

And social media is such a great piece of humanity.

@SonofBaconator....maybe Eve was hanging out earlier than anyone knew she was there...

Remember that human beings, especially deceased, deserve respect. An urban legend about a ghost of a boy who died almost 40 years ago can still cause pain for friends and family who live.

I heard it was Jim Cantore when he stopped by Cincinnati to have lunch with the local news celebrities on the way to a blizzard! (Dippin Dots guy at CGA told me his peer at Fiesta Texas said his friend at Great Adventure heard it from the septic tank guy at Camden Park). -
I enjoyed the video about something I love to eat. As you hone your skills, I think your confidence will grow. I am not a content creator, so I admire your commitment to starting something and finishing it. If I may offer a suggestion: work towards a conversational tone. Research is great, but don't read your content to the viewer. If it sounds like you are conversational, it makes it easier to process. Keep up the good work!

I can only speak for myself. The work is much appreciated, but the park needs to devote more resources to getting the event off the ground. Add to the team. Keep the team paid well. And maybe, just maybe, push the Winterfest prep back just a little and have a big enough team to get it done starting right after Haunt. The tree should not be up in the entry plaza, Royal Fountain needs to operate and the ET should open during the last Haunt weekend.

As someone who has lived with type one diabetes for 43 years, you really only need one thing immediately and that is glucose. A pack of glucose tablets and/or a tube of gel fits nicely in a pocket or the bag size they indicate. If you insulin pump infusion set comes undone, it's not an emergency. Neither is it an emergency if your CGM comes out. You don't need a suitcase full of cookies and candy. Most glucometers and supplies can fit in the small bag. Extra supplies can be left in the car. Or, check in with your small bag, go to guest service or first aid and get documents for leaving a couple extra supply set and insulin at the first aid building. It's not that hard or dramatic.

2022 Winterfest ticks and add ons are on sale

Maybe the water infused with chili will catch on outside of the VIP area! -

Not a dime because I didn't reserve. The igloos dont appeal to me because Winterfest is only 5 hours and there is so much to do. NYE is the only night I would consider, and I have to work this year -

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
BeeastFarmer replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I would love to have a flyer vs a wing. Unique to the market. More fun than a wing (subjective, I realize). I would even have no problem waiting a few years for a big, record setting coaster that ties into the Junkyard coaster space (if it's retired/relocated) and the entire area cleaned up. I think the train route renovations were a positive and to the best of my memory, they could tie in to Losantisville. Undertaker, Inn, livery etc. This history was a predecessor to the gold rush Old West, but there was a major difference. As to Diamondback...I wouldn't expect major thematic elements being changed. The lexicon is a part of KI heritage now, And if the 30 year mark is the average expected service life of a large steel coaster, we are about half way there. -

BeeastFarmer replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Rivertown needs to reflect it's original purpose...a wooded pioneer era with the industrial era that started in Losantisville. Not a Wild West town filled with dust and saloons that you would see in gold rush era in Californie, Arizona or Nevada. Big difference. -
Oh, but according to the Dippin' Dots guy, you will get a vat/crate of yesterday's chili dumped into the lawn in Soak City VIP area, and the room monitor at the drypark VIP area will throw old rice and beans from Hanks at you. Maybe they will give a choice of chili infused ice water or leftover KI salad infused water? (unless the Dippin' Dots guy was telling the truth, this post is satire)

I'm ok with it if the park continues to improve the experience next year. Contrary to what many think, it will take some time to recoup from the 2020 and to a less extent, 2021 losses. I'd rather have the 2022 experience with more improvements in 2023 than a new major attraction. Those will come. However, they probably should plan something major for 2024. For example, I have decided not to renew my Kentucky Kingdom pass for next year. I'm not mad, bitter or jaded, I just want to see something added. Pumpkins will be great for the park, but HFE needs to add something big to KK to make a statement. I feel if CF does KI 2024 without something big, some passholders might begin to view it the same way I am vieiwing KK.
