  1. FoF is still kicking so I think the lighting and video snippets will stick around for a while. These don't seem to be too expensive to replace over time. Would love for them to add things like air nozzles, foggers, and water sprayers. The shed seems like it will be very flexible and easily updated in the future.
  2. Found this on the website - https://www.visitkingsisland.com/tickets-passes/season-pass-early-ride-times Personally don't know much beyond that other than the Mystic Timbers Tuesdays when the park is open later than normal.
  3. They were getting down somehow. They have to have a way for people to get down in an emergency. The power didn't come back on till around 8pm, I doubt Cedar Point left them up there for 8+ hours
  4. ^^ Not trying to give a physics lecture but you weren't falling faster than the rain. Craziest thing for me at King's Island was walking down Diamondback's stairs after they couldn't get it working. I've seen people walking down Millenium Force before though.
  5. They were probably already planning Diamondback at KI so it may have made more sense to bolster KD. On top of this Banshee might have been on the table as well (around 5 years out) giving less need for another looping coaster. And with Cedar Fair giving far more investment to KI they may have wanted to give KD something with a bit more legs. I think most would agree that Firehawk + Diamondback + Banshee is the better deal than Dominator. Given KI's current lineup I'm happier we have Firehawk. That's my take on it at least.
  6. You said you thought KI got the short end of the stick, others seem to think Michigan's Adventure did. Although Dominator is a better ride than Firehawk we did get the more unique ride. When I went to Geauga Lake X-Flight (Firehawk's previous name) was the coaster I was most excited for because its such a rare type.
  7. With Plants Vs. Zombies and the Mass Effect ride we may yet have a use for the Action Theater.
  8. I was only commenting on its age and condition. Corkscrew is a good decade older and still running.
  9. #1 Intimidator 305 #2 Maverick #3 Volcano Although it should be noted the difference between #1 and #9 (10 is Flight of Fear largely based on my history with it/nostalgia) is slight and my mood could make the difference as to which is on top which day. I just chose an order so that I do have a list.
  10. ^If I recall correctly it had lots of damage from the design flaw and would need significant repairs and a redesign which is why they scrapped it. ^^Corkscrew at Cedar Point opened in 1976 and is still kicking. Vortex may still last a while yet. I think its great location is its biggest threat currently.
  11. I think one of the biggest differences between KI and KD in looks is how much more complete KD looks. Ki just has way too much empty space especially around Diamondback and BSC. KD has the better music for sure. But despite it having my # 1 and 3 coasters I think KI still has the better lineup. I don't think RMC Hurler will change that either thanks to Mystic Timbers. I'd say the #1 Cedar Fair park I've been to is a tie between KI and Cedar Point with KD in a solid 3rd.
  12. This makes a lot more sense than a coaster getting VR. With a pre-show area they can hopefully keep the line moving at the same pace.
  13. I think a Bayern's Curve would work well there.
  14. That's understandable, I just found riding their 3 good coasters over and over again got boring after a while. The 5 - 10 minute dispatches at Lightning Run were the final straw for me and my brother to head back to KI for the day. I just can't see giving up KI variety for 3 coasters, even if they were my top 3 I doubt you would have much to worry about though. I think Vortex will be around for many years to come. Cedar Fair doesn't seem to like tearing down coasters that have no issues and aren't in the way of major expansions. And Don has said in interviews before that there is plenty of room to expand without removing anything. You don't get 16+ coaster parks by tearing them down all the time.
  15. So just ignore all the other coasters KI has? And the fact that The Beast is rated one of the best wooden coasters? It's all your opinion and that's up to you but you seem to be coming to what I'm sure many would consider a silly decision by ignoring the 11 coaster advantage KI has. All 11 of them would have to be pretty poor coasters to not match the KK lineup. I'm sure many here would put both Banshee and Diamondback above Vortex in KI lineup and likely above KK coasters as well. But that's just what I think the general opinion would be. I'm sure you can agree that your opinion would be a stretch for most coaster enthusiasts?
  16. Kings Island has more excellent coasters than KK has coasters, and while I love Vortex it isn't exactly high on my best KI coasters list. KK has 2 excellent coasters, one ok one and one bad one + a kiddie coaster. I think you'll find very few people share your opinion.
  17. The drone pilot linked should be more aware of FAA regulations and who controls the airspace above the park. Generally any airspace to 80ft and up to 500ft is considered the landowners airspace and flying through it is trespassing. Kings Island likely controls a high amount due to their 300ft + tall towers and possibly over 500ft, not to mention there are likely FAA regulations in place for these kinds of places. Kings Island forbids the operation of drones anywhere over their property regardless of their point of origin.
  18. I see no point in removing a ride without a replacement and would only want to see Vortex go if something far more awesome took its place.
  19. I think they could put in a Giga around DA without impacting it much, there is room for another path on the opposite sides of the bents for Racer from the empty pad there. I always thought it would be neat to pull a Maverick and put a multi launch where Congo Falls is. As stated by others KI still has plenty of spaces for new coasters without removing anything. I even think the SOB station could be used if they were willing to build somewhat of a tunnel (double decker) to move between The Bat and Banshee. There is still room for a brake run and an element for leaving the station. Would be great for a woodie.
  20. That doesn't look like the new logo to me. The letters aren't as bold or consistent. It's much closer to their old one.
  21. I've been on FoF plenty of times over the years when it only slowed a little or didn't brake at all at the MCBR. According to RCDB Jokers Jinx is only 4.6 ft taller and 6 mph faster which wouldn't really be noticeable. And it still has the MCBR, they just don't use it. One time back when Paramount still owned the park FoF had absolutely no line and the gate attendant was yelling for people to ride because they needed at least 10 people on it before they could launch. I rode it 11 times in a row that night with the only wait being for more people to get in the train. I've seen Cedar Fair launch the coaster with less before though so maybe the rules changed. With the newer restraints those 11 rides would have been much more comfortable
  22. They are only cheaper right now because they are discounted. Just as bizarre however is the fact that a Busch Gardens summer pass costs the same as a single park single day ticket, if I recall correctly Six Flags Great America was the same way.
  23. You have Carowinds website listed next to Kings Island and Dorney next to Knott's. Thanks for keeping everyone up to date.
