It’s the light strip. Matches exactly what I was told it would look like.

People can decide whether or not they want to eat those foods, but people can’t avoid the toxic chemicals in the smoke blowing in their faces as they walk around the park. I sure hope this change is permanent, Kings Island should have been a non-smoking park years ago.
-
Kings Island’s areas were very poorly placed and guests who weren’t smokers still inhaled secondhand smoke walking by or through these areas.
-
The difference is you’re not shoving your funnel cake down my throat. Second-hand smoke kills about 41,000 people a year: https://www.lung.org/quit-smoking/smoking-facts/health-effects/secondhand-smoke
-
The worst-placed smoking area is the one on the side of the Miami River Brewhouse. There's such a nice patio back there, but you have to walk through the smoking area and clouds of toxic chemicals first. Delightful.

Da end of da wrld as wii no it.

I think adding FunTVs in the queue of Mystic Timbers was easily the worst decision they made about that ride. I’m curious, is there some sort of contractual obligation for their sponsors that requires every ride to have multiple FunTVs? It makes no sense to me that they spent so much time and effort on the great theming package, and then added all those tacky and unthemed FunTVs.

Yes, the color is close to both that fence and the facade of the Festhaus.

Wow, I did not know it was so evil-minded to post an opinion on here! I agreed with you that Diamondback needs a repaint and stated what I wrote was just my opinion, but I guess you can’t please everyone. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
I don’t think so, Diamondback’s supports have more of a grayish tinge to them and Viking Fury’s new support color looks to be more like a cream color. I hope we see Diamondback next in line for a paint job, though.
-
I think it’s just the lighting, if you look at the support toward the lower right by the queue, you can see that brown color.
-
The story behind Viking Fury is a genuinely interesting one! It will be included in the book, but unfortunately coronavirus threw the publishing company off-kilter and they have a backlog of projects. They’re aiming for a “mid-summer” release.

No, it was brown.

I liked the purple and green, but I really like the vintage stenciling on the new cars. I’m looking forward to seeing what the whole attraction looks like now.

I got to see the new paint job on Friday during my training, which was right next door in Emporium. I thought it looked nice; the new support color goes better with the trees than it looks like in photos.

Kings Island Vintage Photos - 1973-1992
KIghostguy replied to TombraiderTy's topic in Kings Island History
Totally agree! Plus the white bottom was done years before 2019. I’ve worked on the banks of the Royal Fountain since October 2017 and I think the current fountain is great. Even Gary Wachs thinks that the current fountain is an improvement! But I still don't know why the park didn't bring back the landscaped shrubbery. -
A lot sure has changed in 50 years. Dennis Speigel has one of the groundbreaking shovels hanging on his office wall.

You can find a list on their website: http://www.interthemepark.com/theme-park-projects.html To dismiss someone completely just because they’ve gotten predictions wrong is extremely close-minded. Dennis Speigel still has a significant influence in the amusement industry.

It won’t. The park confirmed on May 8 it will open with the rest of the park: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/park-update Plus the First Rider Auction is on July 1. It’s opening with the park.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex

Tron at Shanghai Disneyland is being cloned for the Magic Kingdom. -
I really am delighted they are bringing back the red, white and blue color scheme that was original to the area, but not to that building. Is this the first time the current Dodgem building has been repainted since it was built?
-
Flight of Fear, I assume it’s supposed to belong to the news crew we see in the queue video.

Both are themed coasters built under Cedar Fair’s ownership. I felt that the marketing of Banshee and Mystic Timbers were similar in terms of updates. Plus, we actually got plaza/queue/theming development updates with both. Why are you so against constructive criticism of the park? Kings Island has done many things right the past few years and they deserve to be applauded when they do things right. I think that overall, Kings Island is being operated at the highest quality it has been in decades. However, I feel that this is one aspect that can easily be improved upon. As a fan of the park’s history, I want to see every step of the way in the construction process.
-
There were lots of updates on the construction for the plaza of Mystic Timbers, as well as some of the theming work. There was no reason the park couldn't have done the same for Orion before coronavirus. Instead, we got the same POV and off-ride footage posted and reposted instead of the frequent and unique update strategy that they used when they were building and finishing Mystic Timbers. Look at Meteor Canteen. I love the park's history, I love seeing every step of the way on construction. Instead of posting photos of it being built, it just suddenly appeared in one of the drone photos. Why did the park not want to post any photos of it being built? Hopefully, with the full-time staff back at the park, we'll be back to getting more frequent updates.

As others have said, there was barely anything even before the shutdowns. What was preventing them from posting an update of Area 72 construction in January or February?
