Carowinds was centrally-located to their parks and was deemed to have a strong transportation network, making it a good spot for corporate headquarters. The main reason was that four of the seven KECO corporate executives were from North Carolina.

Paramount’s flagship park was Carowinds. It had been the flagship park of that group since 1986, when KECO moved corporate HQ to Carowinds from Kings Island.

I think the fact that this building is filed separately (a la the ride photo booth) than the rest of this project indicates that this building is not just another shade structure. Very excited to see what they do for the theming!

Yes, it's labeled as a Quonset hut on another sheet and is listed as being filed separately from Project X. Since it appears both Fast Lane and the regular line are routed through it, it apparently must have something pretty important inside.

The lights are on the nozzles, they just haven't been turned on yet for the public.

Does anyone know if the fountain will be choreographed to the orchestral music in addition to the fireworks? The original blog post says that there will be "choreographed daytime and nighttime shows," but the park's Instagram posted about the "new fountain show," singular.

It’s labeled as a Quonset hut, so it probably will be enclosed with theming. Also, it’s “prop” without the period.

We have so much unused land. Not only is the giga not using it...but it's blocking off expansion into it as well!

Kings Island is still a part of Warren County, they just used to be in Deerfield Township. The park was annexed to the City of Mason, which has a building department.

The sign was gone April 14, which was Dry Run Day for associates. The sign's footings were still in the ground. The first time I came as a guest was on May 3, and the footings for the sign were totally gone.

Does anyone have a recording of this? “World” and “Royal” can sound very similar, especially when it’s said over an outdoor speaker obscured by background noise (people talking, rides, etc.).

I am that “someone,” and as someone who has worked at Emporium for the past two years and looks at those buildings all day, I still stand by my opinion!

Those were all so relatively long ago, the park has certainly recouped those investments by now.

R & R Designs is still around. It would be great if they could do a large Adventure Express refurbishment a la the Calico Mine Ride renovation at Knott's.

We have gotten worse over the years but major steps are being taken. Mystic Timbers, Flight of Fear queue lighting effects, Festhaus glockenspiel and the International Street renovation are prime examples of this. Mike Koontz is making this a big goal to have a larger focus on theming.

I work at Emporium. While I don't have the sales figures, based off my experience we sell a lot more of these than you would think.

The Eiffel Tower at Kings Island stands 314 feet tall. The three observation decks are at 50 feet, 265 feet, and 275 feet.

We had a former user who would point out stuff even more minor than this and berate new users...and nobody ever batted an eye. In fact, many people often post how much they miss him! But I'll shut up. I'm sorry, it's just the writer in me coming out.
