  1. I love B&M, but I completely agree. I would love to see something "different," like you suggested. This removal opens up a lot of land, which is great for the future.
  2. Firehawk was announced without a replacement.
  3. I went on Friday night and had a good time, despite the crowds. I think that the decorations and lighting are much better than last year, which I was not expecting! The new Scare Zones are well done too.
  4. Interestingly, there was no set side for colors until 2008. You will often see photos of two red trains, two blue trains, red on the left track and blue on the right track, etc.
  5. Don Helbig is not in the Hall of Fame.
  6. The long wait is largely due to poor operations. Last year was a very, very low attendance year for Cedar Point. I don't have exact figures, but Kings Island had a larger 2018 attendance, and all we added was a barbecue restaurant. I do not believe Steel Vengeance has pulled in the GP, for whatever reason. I would love an RMC at Kings Island, but with all the issues Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers have and the lukewarm reception of both rides from the general public, I unfortunately find it hard to believe Cedar Fair will work with RMC again.
  7. I personally would have rather seen Bill Price or Walt Davis inducted before Al Weber. Greg Scheid was for sure a great choice. I too have always found it bizarre that the Hall evolved into just "famous people who worked there," versus people who significantly shaped the park. I do feel that the last two inductions are on the right track. Weber left a large mark on the park for sure, for better or for worse.
  8. It’s showing up fine on my phone.
  9. Some very high quality photos here of the new construction today:
  10. It is in HR in a corridor facing a window...which is in an employees only area. I never understood why they didn’t just leave it in the park.
  11. I noticed yesterday there is a new inductee to the Kings Island Hall of Fame, the late Al Weber. I’m surprised that there isn’t a blog post or something on it, but then again the park didn’t post anything about the last induction either (Greg Scheid in 2017).
  12. The numbers painted on front are the hangar numbers. Flight of Fear is Hangar 18 (after Hangar 18 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) and Orion is Hangar 20 (presumably because it’s opening in 2020).
  13. I would be interested as well. I have not been to Dollywood yet, but I have heard fantastic things about Wildwood Grove and the park in general. Interesting to note too that Dollywood pulled ahead of Cedar Point in the "Best Amusement Park" category.
  14. I know there are some posts on this sprinkled in in other threads, but I thought it would be very convenient to have all the conversations on it in one thread. Here is where Kings Island placed on the awards: Golden Ticket for the Renaissance Award: Kings Mills Antique Autos and other 2019 improvements and renovations Second place for Best Kids Area Third place for best new family attraction Fifth place for best Christmas event On the 50 best wooden coasters list, The Beast placed fifth and Mystic Timbers was ranked 10th On the 50 best steel coasters list, Diamondback was ranked 14th and Banshee 33rd. They also put a very nice article on Kings Island's special award for this year in the actual issue: http://www.amusementtoday.com/issues/2019/2019gta/
  15. Les Taxis did run during Winterfest in 1991, so I would think Kings Mills Antique Autos would be running this year. I think the website is still showing the attractions from last year and has not yet been updated.
  16. Kings Island does not have a designated archive. I’ve checked and unfortunately, they do not. There is some historical materials the park has, but they are just scattered around in offices, etc. They also do not have much materials on The Bat, or really anything on that era, because most of it was thrown out in the late ‘90’s by some stupid marketing intern. Very unfortunate!
  17. The music on International Street is set to “shuffle,” so the fountain can’t really be choreographed during the day unless they play the playlist straight through. I also do agree that the fountain could be more synched to the music during the Royal Finale. The fountain work was done by Georgia Fountain Company, which does work for Disney and many other companies, so it’s not like it was done by someone inexperienced in choreographing fountains. That being said, I love how animated they are during the day and the lights at night. It makes it much more of a true centerpiece for International Street.
  18. The trains will not be put on Nighthawk. They’re incompatible. I personally believe they will be just cannibalized for parts.
  19. The Jersey Devil is a very famous creature in New Jersey folklore: https://weirdnj.com/stories/jersey-devil/
  20. Yes, it set a record for the time: 2.76 million people. The record was not surpassed until 1984, which saw over three million people.
  21. I really like Diamondback's splashdown. It adds great, much-needed kinetic energy to that area and makes a nice focal point for Rivertown.
  22. Don Helbig is area manager of digital marketing. He has no say in what rides are removed and added.
  23. For some reason, they posted it over in the other thread. Can these two threads just be merged already? People keep on posting thoughts on the ride in the construction thread and construction photos on the thoughts thread. It’s so much more streamlined if it’s just one thread. Nobody is respecting that there are two separate threads anyway.
  24. I will say that C.H.A.O.S. last year was great. It's honestly probably my favorite maze.
  25. Cedar Point has generally terrible operations compared to Kings Island. Steel Vengeance this year is especially obnoxious. Nobody has any idea what they're doing, whether it be guests or employees.
