PKI_Diana
I pretty much agree with you, PKI_Diana, but, you can't ignore the enthusiast market either. I would venture a guess and say that it is the enthusiasts that make multiple trips to PKI, whereas many families can only go once a season. And, I'm not talking about the families that live in that area either. Families spend sooo much more than enthuastists per a trip usually, even if the enthuastist comes multiple times. Oh! And some families do come multiple times! Even if they don't like in the Cincy/ Mason area. I work there, and to be honest, I feel I see a LOT more families than those people hunting for a thrill. I'd rather be a family park anyhow. I know when I went Admission (x2 cause 2 people work there) Food (x4) Games (x4, kids love winning the plush) Sovenirs (x6) Ice cream / Candy (x6) p.s. No, I don't have kids, I just work with a lot of them, and have a ton of nieces and nephews.
KIBeast
Oh! And some families do come multiple times! Even if they don't like in the Cincy/ Mason area. Yeah, this is why I said probably most families do not, insead of all families do not. Anyway, I mostly see teenagers by themselves more than any other group of people including enthusiasts and families. Families spend sooo much more than enthuastists per a trip usually, even if the enthuastist comes multiple times. I do not doubt this, but you still have to satisfy the thrillseeking, coaster enthusiasts.
BoddaH1994
They've added thrilling attractions almost every year. Italian Job, Delirium, SOB, and loosely speaking, Taz and Coolangatta are all thrilling rides. In response to you, PKIBeast, I agree that enthusiasts are the main return visitors, but think of it this way: when you go to the park, do you eat two times, play several games, and buy a souvineer? Now a family of four would typically do all of that and may, in a one or two day visit, outspend an enthusiast for the whole season. Then again, I went up there today with a bunch of people from my work that are are family men (who had their families with them) and they were thrilled to hear that a new coaster was in our horizon. One thing that I will suggest is more attractions for pregnant women and people wil disabilities.
Vortexlover2
I'm not saying ANYONE is wrong or right. All I'm saying is I'm glad we arn't getting any new slides, flat rides, but acually a roller coaster, a launched roller coaster. The second in the park, but now that this is coming I'll be able to ride FoF. And if anything in 2006, a flat would be fine. I 'm fine with anything, unless we haven't gottten a coaster for 3 years, again. VL2
KIBeast
The only thing I don't do there is play games. So yes, I eat there twice and buy souvenirs. Plus, I might snack in between.
Vortex
Just be happy Paramounts Kings Island is getting a ride every year. I think they could do with out a ride one year and just fix the park up and the rides they have.

KIBeast
I am expecting more kiddie stuff. Probably a new coaster or something like that.
flightoffear1996
Where would a new kiddie coaster go. There is really no room in the kiddie area unless they take something out. The only thing I see them taking is Slime ZOne thing.
teenageninja
They could expand into the Picnic Grove (it's easily movable) or they could expand behind the Nick Theatre. I don't see them removing the Slime Zone, it seems like it's pretty popular even if it's not burning hot, and they did just redo it.
flightoffear1996
Yes I forgot about that but why expand the kiddie area when it has been rated the number one kiddie area in the world for the past 4 years.
King Bowser
Very easy question because when you win something you always wanna do better and thats what PKI should do the Picnic area(-which has all the Classic HB characters there in one forum or another-)will most likely be moved in favor of a new Nick themed ride. KIBeast
"Where would a new kiddie coaster go. " Well, if they got a Super Saturator, it would go above everyone's heads. Otherwise, I agree, that they would probably have to remove something else. I think they should get something like the Froghopper at Cedar Point. It's like the Power Tower for kids. PKI Punk
I see the park removing Nick Theatre and using the land behind it (the woods and the picnic grove.) I mean, Nick Theatre didn't even have any shows in it this year.
BoddaH1994
You never really know about the Nick Theatre. Right now it's just a pavilion, but they could have plans to renovate it. They might have just utilized it for the meet and greet this year. If not, yeah, I can see it going.
The-Snapper
we need a nice new thrilling coaster! A B&M or Intamin. We dont need to improve our kiddie land because its already the best in the business
TheKlockster
We're not going to get a coaster in 06. Guaranteed. But that aside, I will say what I always say (and BoddaH disagrees with me ) - I can really see a B&M invert, almost like a copy of Top Gun the Jet Coaster at PC or Silver Bullet at KBF coming to PKI, themed to Skycaptain and the World of Tomorrow. I also think a B&M dive machine themed to the Core would be possible. Those are two Paramount coasters I see in the future. But if they are built, which park will get them? Lets hope PKI! Delirium13
We dont need to improve our kiddie land because its already the best in the business. I want a coaster next year as much as anybody, but if PKI wants to keep the kiddie area the best they have to keep improving it or eentually it won't be the best anymore. Anyways I have a feeling IJ:ST will be awesome!

Smurfs Enchanted Voyage
This what I see happening 2005- IJ:ST,Nick Parade,Winter Fest,A really short fearfest. 2006-Nick Central Expansion w/ two new rides and a new meet and greet and a new place to eat. 2007- The Addams Family Reunion Coaster

BoddaH1994
One of the reasons why they axed Winterfest is because the expanded the season in order to have Fearfest. They may require a few extra weeks to set up for Winterfest if they have it.
TheKlockster
Why wouldn't they just keep Fearfest the way it is, and add Winterfest? It would take a few weeks to set up, but they could do that all of November, and most of December. I think it would be cool if they did a big christmas light thing like the Zoo does. Could you imagine SOB completely lit up with christmas lights? That would be awesome! Probably will never happen, but it would still be awesome! Browntggrr
We're not going to get a coaster in 06. Guaranteed. How can you guarantee that? Yes, I would be surprised if they would put in a coaster for '06, but using "guarantee" is a very strong statement.

KIBeast
Why is it that people think there is some kind of pattern in what PKI is installing? There is no pattern. You cannot predict what is coming next based on what they have previously done, just like every other park.
derbeast
You're right, there is no pattern, if PKI decides for whatever reason they need/want a coaster in 2006 then they will install one. They base their decisions very little on previous patterns. But right now all we have to base our predictions off of are patterns. Since 1999, we've gotten 3 "giant flat rides" 2 coasters, 1 kiddie coaster, Waterpark Expansion, Water-ride revamp, A new Darkride and another coaster coming in 2005. PKI has literally covered every aspect of the market in the past 5 years so there's no telling what is coming in 2006. And who says PKI is out of the coaster race? If Six Flags can compete, I think we can too.
BoddaH1994
Saying that PKI is out of the coaster race doesn't mean that they can't compete. It just means that they're not going to go up against CP or Six Flags to try to build the tallest, longest, whatever.. They're concentrating on improving the park, not necessarily holding records.
KIBeast
Yup, Boddah's right. Besides which, parks make decisions based on Return on Investment (ROI), not patterns. Still, basing predictions off patterns is of no use either. It still won't tell you anything. They can make you think you know what is coming next, say a new flat, and then totally throw a monkey wrench into the mix with a BB expansion. Maybe this thread should be more of a wish list than predictions. BTW, here's my prediction for 2005. PKI will in fact install a new ride or attraction of some sort that will make them lots of money with a nice ROI. That's about all there is to know.
