HandsUp Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I was wondering if anything special was going to be done for Darlene's (forget her last name) 500th DB ride. I think she plans to do it on Saturday, and that is an amazing accomplishment especially at this point in the year. It's a testament to her, as well as the capacity of our newest friend. Quote
Colonel_SoB_fan Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I was on her 400th ride, I guess about 2 weeks ago during a saturday ERT Quote
Hoeter Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Just to let you know, Darlene Bell is the woman's name. She has been mentioned on Kings Island Insider and she is also on KIC. Her name is darlagirl. Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Darlene isn't one to ask for attention. Shes a good friend of mine and the family. Quote
Tom76257 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I don't know, but if I see her at the park either on or after that ride I'll give her a hug. She dwarfs my 43 rides on Diamondback. She and Single Rider Bob should be the definition of what it means to be a ride warrior. Quote
skaterboy22101 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I was talking to Darlene on Sunday about this. She told me that she was going to wait till this Saturday to get her 500th. Aperently, Mr. Helbig is inviting the media and press. Quote

mtl2013 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 WowI applaud her for her dedication. that makes my 110 rides look like nothing! if i saw her after her 500th, i would probably give her a hug! Quote
Oldiesmann Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Congrats to Darlene on her upcoming milestone ride. I will be getting my 50th tomorrow (and will likely be well above 60 by the end of the weekend). Quote
markr Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Just got back from ERT this morning on DB and had the honor of sharing Darlene's 500th ride. She was on the front seat with one of the DB attendants, Brian and Karen and myself rode in the second row. Three cheers for Darlene. Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 I wish I could ride it 500 times trust me. I can't make it to the park but once or twice a week if I am lucky. Quote
kiruler102 Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 yay darlene, looks like i am going to KI later but looks like i wont be riding DB today. Quote
goofywdw Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 http://www.kingsislandinsider.blogspot.com/ A jubilant Darlene Bell (front seat, left) takes her 500th ride on Kings Island's Diamondback roller coaster here, accompanied by a rides associate, Bryan Miller. The Dayton, Ohio native has visited Kings Island 28 times this season, averaging 18 rides per day on the park's new $22 million steel coaster. Lucky Bryan got to ride with her. Quote

Erosarrow05 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 With 500 rides thats about 17 hours of her life she wont be getting back... Quote
HTCO Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 For me, thats 17 hours of awesomeness. It beats sitting here looking at a forum for 17+ hours right? Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 ...It depends. Who's posting? And what?* Seriously, folks. I have learned much from here. That aside, congratulations, Darlene! *It is not to be implied that this post in any way is about polls, nor that it is not. Quote
Beast1979 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 500?! That's amazing! Congrats, Darlene! I'm only at 26.... Quote
Rustbucket Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I rode with Darlene on her 500th. Don Helbig took a sign of her #500 and took a picture. The sign is being displayed on the window of a control room. That ride was my 193rd. I got to 202 today. A long way to go!!! Quote

The sign is being displayed on the window of a control room. That ride was my 193rd. I got to 202 today. A long way to go!!! If you rode with her, then you must be an employee. That's because the employee rode with her. So, if your name is not Bryan Miller, then you didn't ride with her for her 500th. EDIT: And it wasn't Don, it was Scott. why is everyone here so sarcastic, literal, and outright mean? honestly, is that necessary. he could simply mean that he rode on the train with her. often times i ride behind my friends, or they sit in the front, and me in the back... i still consider it riding with them . geeze. why don't you douse that flame thrower with some ice cold water? Quote
markr Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I remember Don did take our photo as we went down the first hill. As to who took the photo of Darlene holding the sign, in all honesy I cannot remember if it was Scott or Don. And I second the motion-why is everyone so sarcastic, childish, or downright mean? I certainly hope your parents taught you better manners than that. Quote
fan of beast Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 i believe Don was taking the pictures. i was in the backseat of the second car in the tan shirt. Quote
Rustbucket Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 After my son and I rode with her 7 times yesterday, we rode again with her this morning. She was up to 515 when we left. I hit my 200 and my son hit 150. She was riding right behind us on 12. Darlene and other ride ops gave me high fives. Quote
