TheSonofBeast
Id like to make a nice easy to find section of prices of notable items that have increased in price this season. The first thing that immediately came to mind today was the increase of the lockers at the crypt/Firehawk/white water canyon from .75 cents to $2.00. TH13TEEN
^ My sister and I saw this... $2.00 that is awful! Sure Firehawk isn't even a good coaster, so I could kinda' care less...
Dvo
Wow that's ridiculous. Especially in Firehawk's case, where they require you to put loose articles in a locker. Oh Holiday World, you have spoiled me forever with your free lockers.

CoastersRZ
I didn`t even notice the increased price on lockers by Firehawk. (I did ride Flight of Fear first thing in the morning.) What I did notice, however, was that two slices of cheese pizza and a 20oz. Coke cost me $10.10. While that seems high, that was cheaper than the $13 and change I paid for the exact same thing at Carowinds on their opening weekend. There, once slice of pizza was in the $4.30 range! At Kings Island, two slices of cheese pizza cost $5.79, still high but better than the Carowinds price.
Coney Islander
Maybe Kings Island has less local food competition? I guess Cedar Fair might be regarding this as competition, though twisted as their ways do seem.

Avatar
My wife and daughter rode to the park with me today and I gave them $80.00 to spend for lunch and dinner. When we got to the park they went their way and I hung out with many of the KICentral members. My family rarely looks at the prices when going out but just get what they want as I usually pay the fare, so I made sure they had enough money today. When we meet back at our vehicle tonight my wife and daughter both asked me to stop somewhere to eat on the way home, I asked did I not give you enough money for food. My wife's response was "yes but the prices where so high and I could not spend that much on what they were asking for, so we just snaked here and there", she the rattled off some of the prices at the park as an example. I think Kings Island has finally surpassed my families price point breaking point. I truly believe in supporting the park and will continue to do so in a variety of ways including purchasing some meals at the park still, but we be packing a cooler or leaving the park midday to have a late lunch/early dinner more regularly on our future visits to Kings Island. This is in no way meant to be a negative post about Kings Island but more of an informative feedback. Kings Island we have supported you and will always do so but we can no longer afford your food prices each and every time we come to the park and we understand your reasons for the menu prices. This is sad to hear coming from you, Jesse....it's also a testament that enough is enough. Wake up, Cedar Fair, wake up. Its pathetic that in park prices are far greater in Kings Island or any of the other CF parks than it is at the big players here in Orlando. I eat frequently in the Parks here and have no issue paying the money for it because the food is usually fresh and GOOD. After my KI experience last year at Hank's Back Porch Bar....I don't think I've ever been served anything so disgusting and overpriced at any park I've ever been to. Unfortunately, earlier in the season last year, I had a similiar experience at Rivertown Potato Works. I definitely won't be making the mistake again when I visit in June, I'll quite happily leave the park to find lunch and dinner. - Todd
kjkjkj
Payed over 10 dollars to get a souvenir refill, and a Shrimp Basket Meal at Outer Hanks, which had shrimp and fries. The food sucked, and was not worth the money. However we payed 10 dollars to get the Backyard BBQ for dinner, and it was great! I ate a hotdog, a roll, 4 pieces of chicken, a slice of watermelon, and like 4 refills of pop. It was well worth the money. The food was warm when they would first put some fresh stuff out, but then it got cold because of the freezing cold wind. But they kept putting fresh stuff out, so it wasn't a big deal. If it was a little warmer out, then this would be the perfect meal to eat at King s Island! It was 500 times better than Outer Hanks
flightoffear1996
I love the park food everyone once in awhile but the prices are just outragous. I dont mind spending a little more because it is a themepark but come on. Its not at just themeparks either but any sporting venue. I know what it cost to make a pizza including overhead and to pay over $5.00 for 2 slices is just plain highway robbery. Did the prices at the skyline go up as well? I hope the chicken basket at Outer Hanks didnt go up. That was one of the best deals in the park. $10.00 for fries, chicken strips, and a drink. CoastersRZ
A 3-way from Skyline in Coney Mall will set you back about $6.50. I`m not certain what the prices at Skyline were last year so I can`t really comment on that.
chaddie
I try to not buy any food items in the park. I did notice that a turkey leg is $6.57 though.

RD Reynolds
Interesting that everyone is complaining about the food prices. My family (of three: me, wife, four-year old) and my best friend's family (of four: him, wife, 9 year old, 6 year old) had lunch at the Fest Haus. We got a pizza, two extra slices of pizzas, three orders of breadsticks, a side salad, three milks, and two new souvenir cups (which the adults split). Wound up at at the cost of about $10 per person, same price as the Backyard BBQ. Thought that was fine as the food was REALLY good (well, the pizza was, the breadsticks were kind of a joke); I love LaRosa's, and we have none of those in Indy. Now that we have the souvenir cups, that same meal would have been like $8 per person. The souvenir cups are a key to saving money for sure. I think it just kinda depends on what you are looking for. You don't have to spend a fortune to eat at KI, but you easily CAN do that. Is it more expensive than eating outside the park? Absolutely! That's why we eat one meal in the park, and when we leave, we eat some place cheap; yesterday, we hit Chick-Fil-A on Fields Ertel on the way out of town. (Is there a Taco Bell around there too? That's the best cheap place to eat for my family.) RD

count_of_tuscany
I guess this would be the appropriate topic in which to post my question. This coming weekend Leah (countess_of_tuscany) and I are going to KI and we're meeting a friend there from Fort Knox. We both have platinum passes but he does not. My question is, where is the best place to get a ticket for our friend? By "best", of course, I mean cheapest. Do they offer military discounts at the park? He will need a ticket for both Friday and Saturday or just Saturday, depending on when he can meet us. And, yes, I realize the park opens at 5 on Friday. Your responses are appreciated! I can't wait for Friday!
Aaron88stang
I agree with all of you that the prices are high for food at KI, but where they really get you is on the drinks. This why I always just get a cup of water, which is what I usually do anytime I eat out. It will save you a ton of $ and not to mention it is better for you. Unless things have changes the cup of water is free.

The $5.79 price for 2 slices of pieces isn't horrible assuming that you actually got two slices of pizza. The way the pizza was sliced at Festhaus was outrageous-2 slices of pizza was more like 2 half slices of pizza.
CoastersRZ
Thay may have been the case for some of the slices. And yes,I did see some plates that had two slices of pizza that were a lot smaller than others. I grabbed the biggest two pieces I could see to ensure that I was getting my moneys worth. Regardless, $5.79 for two slices of pizza is still better than Carowinds $4.30 for ONE slice of pizza.
